A Gimmick of Fire and Stones: A Lead named Charizard-MY(First RMT)

Hello! my name is(as you can probably tell) crucible12! The reason I'm posting this is because after fine-tuning this team for some time I've decided to get recommendations other than battle results. The team that I'm posting is mainly based upon having Charizard-MY as a lead! Now while most of you reading this will probably thinking "No Shitty Gimmicks" I'd just like to say that not all gimmicks are inherently bad(however if mine is for some reason please inform me kindly). The basis of this team is to send in Charizard-MY, punch some holes in the enemy team, and clean up either with a Choiced Pokemon or a setup sweeper.

Design Process

With the main idea of this team being Charizard-MY, it would be natural for him to be the first choice.

12780-70c10439e156471fbeba7170ec4937b0.jpg

For my second Pokemon I decided to go with something that would deal with some of
Charizard-MY's checks and counters, Aegislash popped in my head immedietly, by being able to
deal with scarfTar and scarf terrakion, two of Charizard-MY's greater counters.

For my third pokemon I wanted something that could check a plethora of different pokemon to
act as a sort of insurance, while still having the bulk to take a few hits. Scizor seemed an
appropriate choice, being capable of packing a punch and taking a punch.

As a fourth, I wanted a good setup sweeper to sweep lategame or to serve as a contingency
plan incase Charizard-MY fails, while being unorthodox, Thundurus-Therian, with it's base 145
Spec.Attack seemed a great Agillity setup sweeper, being able to outspeed most threats and
deal a ton of damage back.

As my second-to last pokemon I wanted something that could hit hard and fast on the special
side. Latios seemed like the perfect recipient for this role, being fast, having a diverse
movepool, and capable of packing a punch.

For my final pokemon I looked at my team and noticed quite a few collective weaknesses,
being fire, rock, ground, ice, dragon, and dark, notice something here? A Choiced Azumarill
can cover every single one of those weaknesses, rounding out my team very nicely.

Charizard-MY@Charizardite-
-Fireblast/Flamethrower
-Solarbeam
-Focus Blast
-Earthquake/Roost
EV's:252 Satk,252 Spd,4 HP
Nature:Hasty(thx to thundershock1234 for the recommendation)
With the 4th highest base Satk stat in all of OU, and the 9th highest in all of pokemon
(I looked this up), Charizard-MY will definitely pack a punch, the only thing I have to say is:
STAB Fire Blast coming off of base 159 Satk in sun, to prove my point, Fire blast is self
explanatory, however I'm experimenting with flamethrower, which, despite the lower BP,
has higher accuracy and will hit more often, help would be appreciated. Solarbeam is for
covering (almost) anything that resists Fire Blast. Focus Blast is for extra coverage, but
primarily for Heatran, Earthquake is for other fire types or rock types, and also incase
Focus Blast doesn't kill heatran or it's being an idiot not running an air balloon, but I can always
switch to roost, both to heal from SR incase I'm forced out, and to increase survivability.
I chose Timid over Modest for some extra speed, but I can always do Modest for some extra
power.

Aegislash Air Balloon
-King's Shield
-Swords Dance
-Shadow Claw
-Sacred Sword
Nature:Brave(+Atk,-Spe)
EVs:252 HP,252 Def,4 Spd
With the equivalent of 60/150/150/150/150/60 if played correctly, Aegislash can become a
monster after one boost, the main reason I picked Aegislash is because it can counter
both ScarfTar and Scarf Terrakion(as mentioned before), it can do this by switching in on
the Stone Edge and setting up Swords Dance, Shadow Claw and Sacred Sword are there for
STAB and coverage, King's Shield is mandatory for any set not named Autotomize or Shadow
Sneak Spam. EV's are just standard bulky Aegislash, for my nature I did brave to lower
Aegislash's chance of outspeeding the opponent, meaning it will take any and all attacks in
in it's Shield Form, Air Balloon is for fitting in evading Earthquake, which can come in handy at
times.

Scizor @Choice Ban
-Bullet Punch
-U-turn
-Pursuit
-Superpower
EVs:252hp, 252Atk, 4 Spd
Nature:Adamant(+Atk,-Satk)
Scizor may not be the king of OU anymore, but that doesn't mean it's not viable, Scizor fits the
role of an insurance company on my team, being able to revenge kill many threats, and, if they
switch out, put a dent into them or kill them off with BP spam, Bullet Punch is there because it's
Scizor's version of sliced bread. U-turn is there for a switch, Pursuit traps and kill any Psychics or
Ghosts, while Superpower lets me deal a heaping of damage when needed. EVs and nature are
standard bulky Scizor. Choice band is there because... do I really need to answer that?

thundurus__sacred_beast_of_thunder_by_xous54-d4zmzjq.png

Thundurus-T@Life Orb
-Agility
-Thunderbolt
-Focus Blast
-Hidden Power Ice
EVs:252 Satk,252 Spe,4HP
Nature:Modest(+Satk,-Atk)
Thundurus-T is probably my more unorthodox choice, as it's considered outclassed by it's Incarnate
Forme, however it can become a monster with a single Agillity boost. Agillity is there for the extra
speed. Thunderbolt provides reliable STAB, as I will tell Thunder to go to hell not be using Thunder
as I'm no rain team. Focus Blast gives me some extra coverage for standing a chance against the
Abominable Blissey various special walls that will attempt to ruin my day. HP ice is there for
chipping away ground types that will switch in(not named Excadrill)on me. Life orb is
I don't answer to noobs there for extra power. EVs are standard, Modest is because with 2x speed
I don't need to imitate Sonic go any faster.

Latios.png

Latios@Choice Specs
-Psychic
-Draco Meteor
-Thundurbolt
-Dragon Pulse
EVs:252 Satk,252 Spe,4HP
Nature:Timid(+Spe,-Atk)
Latios is always a pokemon that I liked, mainly because of it's sleek and fast appearance, it also
is one of my favorite pokemon competitively, being able to hit a multitude of threats very fast
and very hard, the set I'm using is a standard Choice Specs set, but I can always change to Choice
Scarf incase the meta gets a little too fast. Psychic is for STAB coverage, Draco Meteor is for the
times when I need to do a ton of damage, Thunderbolt provides a little extra coverage, while
Dragon Pulse is for when I want to spam attack more than once. EV's are standard.I run Timid to
go a little faster, which can be surprisingly helpful.

Chibi_Azumarill_by_SoruTheWolf.jpg

Azumarill@Choice Band
-Aqua Jet
-Ice Punch
-Superpower
-Double Edge/Waterfall/???
EVs:252HP,252Atk,4Spd
Nature:Adamant(+Atk,-Satk)
Azumarill had legitimately become one of my favorite pokemon simply by being a psychopathic
murderer and looking like a gentle bunny with giant eyes, seriously if thats not awesomeness I
don't know what is. Bias aside however, Azumarill is a pokemon that I immedietly snatched for
my team, this is because the set that I'm using counter almost every single weakness my entire team has(and it's weaknesses are basically covered for barring electric), I chose Choice Band
because all the other sets just won't live up to the standards I'm looking for, Aqua Jet is there for
smacking pokemon in the face and STAB. Ice Punch provides a nice way to deal with most (every)
dragon(s) that will be able to threaten me, given I can get the hit in. Superpower is there for those
times scizor is down for the count, or his bane o' existence just so happens to be out(I mime rhyme cause I can't get a chyme to fit my time of the lime). Double Edge is there for when there are no more options available, but the recoil sucks so I'm considering waterfall, but this is one were I really could use some help.EVs and Nature are basically unquestionable(but if you happen to find
a reason to use different EVs or a different Nature I'm all ears).

Thank you for reading my RMT! Any and all suggestions or recommendations will be very helpful
(just please no flaming), below you will find some replays incase you'd like to see it in action, or
you just so happen to be quite hungry and notice an extra bag of popcorn in your pantry! Once again, Thanks for reading!

Yea, sry, my computer is kinda faulty and doesn't work well, is it still readable?
It is still readable, just a little confusing at first.

I apologize for not being able to rate your team at the moment but I will give it a full rate tomorrow evening as it is relatively late and I have school in the morning. :D

Hi there! Great team overall. I've heard of using a Mega Charizard Y as a physical attacker but never really seen it done so I'm just curious to see how this turns out. Anyways, to the review!
1. Timid Mega Y with Earthquake? Timid lowers physical attacking moves like Earthquake. I would suggest either changing it's nature to Hasty > Timid or Roost > Earthquake whichever you prefer. I would change it's nature personally since you have no ground type move however, it's up to you.
2. If you ever use a pokemon with a 4x weakness to rock (e.g. Charizard Y, Talonflame ect.) you MUST have a defogger or rapid spinner to get rid of rocks. If you do not then when you switch in to stealth rocks with Charizard, half of its HP will be gone. May I suggest Zapdos > Thundurus?
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Bold nature - Pressure - 252 HP/ 252 sp. def / 4 spd
- Thunderbolt
- Roost
- Defog
- Toxic/ Heatwave
Zapdos is one of the best defoggers in game reason being it has amazing defenses and speed. It's main stab move is thunderbolt, which even for a wall can do terrifying damage to the opponent. Defog is there to remove hazards from the field and since your team doesn't set any up, will only benefit you. Charizard will also be free to switch in without losing half of it's HP. Roost is needed for Zapdos to regain HP fast leaving only one moveslot free. Toxic is the must for this set incase Zapdos faces other walls who will keep recovering until you switch out and since you already have a fire pokemon, heatwave isn't that much of a loss to your team.
3. I would have waterfall > Double Edge on Azumarril, purely for the stab boost.
And that's it for my rate! Overall great team apart from that huge stealth rock weakness. I hope you will take into consideration Zapdos and enjoy playing Pokemon XD

1. Thx:) didn't see that there, as I really have to get heatran out after he comes in I'll keep Quake and get hasty
2.Not really sure about that there, even though I need a defogger I'm not sure of removing Thundurus, as I need a pokemon other than Aegi and Charizard who can switch moves, I definitely will test it though.
3.K, yea thought so, thx!

Thank you for the feedback:D

I would highly suggest a defogger as well.

You can try running bulky latios, or latias if that could help.

Latios@Leftovers
-Psychic Psyshock
-Draco Meteor Defog
-Thundurbolt Hidden Power Fire
-Dragon Pulse

EVs: 252 HP, 152 SpD, 104 SpA
Nature:Calm(+SpD,-Atk)

This is what I would personally run for a latios, (or latias) if I wanted a defogger. It's a pretty solid set, and can be very helpful support.

Thx, I tried the zapdos and I found myself too reliant on my choicers, which allowed my opponent to overrun me, however I've noticed that since my Charizard-MY is basically a suicide lead, and the only other SR weak pokemon I have is Thundurus-T, I don't actually need a defogger, but then again I'm not exactly in the high ladder, and don't really see entry hazards that much,
Will still test though.

Not much of a rate, but on Aegislash I would recommend Shadow Sneak because it's super slow and priority is needed. Shadow Sneak is still good, it reaches 60 power on Aegislash from STAB. 240 power after 2 Swords Dances. Waterfall definitely because Double Edge gives unwanted recoil to Azumarill. Also add an importable so people can copy and paste your team into Showdown to test it.
