A go at a OU BW drought team. I love it

Blazer (Ninetales) (F) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SDef / 136 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Substitute

Summary: The obvious for any sun Team. Ninetales is here for drought, therefore i also intend to have her as my lead so i can get drought out as fast as possible. The idea with her is come out get drought, burn if needed ko if possible then switch until needed again.

Grass Dino (Venusaur) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Growth
- SolarBeam
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sludge Bomb

One of the main sweepers of my team. With sun out chlorophyll double the speed making him a fast sweeper and the idea is to come out get a growth then start pounding away with his three attacks.

Flame Shot (Charizard) (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Solar Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Air Slash
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast

Ah Charizard. My favorite but i've never been happier than now with solar power he becomes a powerful beast especially with fire blasts i've OHKO'd bulky waters at times with this set. complete and utter offense

latios.png

Eon (Latios) (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Recover

Latios is for coverage i'm running thunderbolt to get water types dragon pulse for stab and recover for some staying power because he does have decent special bulk.

Gold Rusher (Donphan) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic

My Spinner. THis team hates hazards so he's around to get rid of them and set up my own teams with stealth rock i have a defensive set to keep him around and earthquake for stab and toxic for status help.

190px-392Infernape.png

Spit Fire (Infernape) (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fire Punch
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance
- Mach Punch

Finally Infernape. I have the focus sash so he can get at least 1 swords dance and then start sweeping with iron fist and sun fire punch becomes really powerful mach punch for priority and close combat for more kick when necessary.

Any Suggestions would be great tell me what you think items movesets change around what you want mostly i have some doubts about the items so I could use some help there.

Hey man! Nice team you have here!

Since you have Recover on Latios maybe you would want to give it a Life Orb? Recover/Life Orb has always been a good combo.

I feel like this team has a weakness agaisnt a Rain Offensive team that has a Starmie with Hydro Pump/Surf and Ice beam in its moveslot. This combination of moves hits super effecitive hits on every member of your team. Starmie also outspeeds everyone in your team and resists Mach Punch. To be perfectly honest I'm not sure what the true answer is. I think you'll prob want to replace Infernape or Charizard. You could put in a Chansey/Blissey or a Gastrodon without a water move. Another option is to make your Latios Scarfed to revenge kill the Starmie but idk if thats the best option. I'll try to come back with better suggestions.

Forgot to mention that when I said Starmie would out speed everyone in your group I was assuming Rain was up not Sun. Because your Vensaur would be faster than Stamie in the Sun. Might want to change Solarbeam to Energy Ball (or Seed Bomb if you change the EVs) so a Politoed won't switch in to ruin your day. (Solarbeam takes 2 turns to charge up in the rain)

Team change

Yeah i see what you mean about starmie. Interestingly enough though i just had a battle with one and i don't know how but my infernape managed to 2hko and survive with a sun boosted fire punch and survive, and I have to ask can i have duplicate items because that's why i didn't put a life orb on latios because i though it wasn't allowed.

I believe I bumped into this team on smogon earlier today, although I may be mistaken. Personally I would switch Charizard to Volcarona, mainly because he is much more reliable, he's probrably just as powerfull in the long run, with the ability to boost its SPAtk, SPDef and Speed with QD, recover off damage with Morning Sun in the sun, and also does not have to rely on Sun for its power since a STAB Bug Buzz even at +1 will deal large chunks of damage to what switches in on it, it also means your not prone to switching as much with Charizard due to his choice specs, if donphan is incapable of spinning away rocks, you can only switch in your Zard once, whereas volca can heal off the damage isnt walled as easilly.
The bulky QD set is without a doubt the best choice for under the sun:

Volcarona @ Leftovers
Flame Body
Bold Nature
224 HP/252 Def/8 SpD/24 Spe
-Quiver Dance
-Fiery Dance
-Morning Sun
-Bug Buzz

I would also suggest running EQ on Venusaur, mainly so you dont set up then get walled by Heatran, a mixed varient favours Physical offense as opposed to Special, (Being Seed Bomb(so your not reliant on sun after setting up), EQ, and HP Fire)
however if you wish to keep the more specially oriented mixed set, I would suggest running EQ over Solarbeam, as this provides you with the best possible 3Move coverage out of those four moves.

Lastly, i see little benifit of running a Sub on Ninetales, if anything I would use protect to scout and Burn Stall alongside Wil-O-Wisp, increasing Ninetales survivability.

Good Luck :)

Your team has a sever waekness to Scarf Landorus who can out speed everything except Venusaur, who has no good offensive move against him anyway. Ice Shard on Donphan would fix this weakness, so replace Toxic. Also watch out for rain Tornadurs, who can 6-0 your team is Ninetails is gone. You could fix this by replacing Latios with Latias or Chansey, who could both check Tornadurs and other rain threats. Latias can also be an effective sweeper, and your team needs his special bulk. Roar will also help deal with stat boosters, and cause some nice damage with your hazards set up.

Latias @ Leftovers
252 Hp/252 Spe/4 Sp. Def
Timid
-Calm Mind
-Roost
-Roar
-Dragon Pulse

Solar Beam is a risky option on Venusaur and I would definitely replace it with energy ball.

infernape/Latios seem like odd options for this team as nothing can really outpace or take a hit from any common scarf'd or boosted pokemon such as landorus, dragonite, volc, rotom, other than venusaur in the sun [Which can only switch in on rotom]. And you cannot really rely on that because you have to have the sun for it to be faster.

if you can add some priority on this team or bulk some weaknesses to those pokemon can be patched. Heatran @ air balloon can take on most dragonites/volcaronas, and having stealth rock up early also helps in limiting them from coming in.

Heatran(F) @ Air Balloon Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice] [30Atk/30Def]
- Earth Power
- Dark Pulse

over Charizard

Also by adding a RotomW over your infernape you can help get some crucial hits on other weather inducers and help you get your weather out more often.

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Trick

Sand teams look like they sweep your team pretty easily. With sand up landorus could annihilate you. He would outspeed everything on your team and be able to ohko everyone but donphan and maybe latios. Scarf tar also huts you a lot changing the weather to sand, outspeeding everything with sand up, trapping latios and maybe scoring a surprise ko on your ninetales if you assume you are faster and try to will o wisp sand also breaks your infernapes sash which could be annoying. I would suggest replacing charizard with Gastrodon. gastrodon gives you a water immunity a second rock resist and a solid check to rain teams and starmie in particular who is also a huge nuisance especially with rain up.

Rain teams will give you headaches, 4/6 are water weak and the other 2 are ice weak so the weakness to life orb starmie is very apparent. Especially if they have a slower lead politoed and switch out to starmie he could easiy pull off a 6-0. I would suggest replacing charizard with gastrodon as he can come in on predicted water attacks aimed at ninetails, donphan, and apr and get up a storm drain boost. Also i would go with a life orb instead of the sash on Infernape becuase it is hard to maintain the sash becuase he will not lead, even though u have a spinner. Scarfed terrakion will also give the team alot of problems so i would definitely go with gastrodon over charizard

I would definitely go with gastrodon over charizard

Volcarona is a much better choice to replace Charzard, since Donphan can already handle Terrakion. Don't forget that Gastrodon is close to useless on this team unless you are opposing rain, so it's not worth the spot, especially when there are so many better replacements for Charzard.

THe new version using your suggestions and what i thought was best

Tell me what you think now and if your believe there are still any very glaring weaknesses

HP Fire/Roar over TBolt on Latias, HP Fire gives better coverage to hit steels that resist Dragon Pulse, alongside the Sun boost to its power. STAB Dragon Pulse with a couple of CM's hits bulky waters hard enough anyway. Roar is the other option however lack of hazards (aside SR) would suggest that HP Fire coverage is the better option.

I still see specially defensive heatran hurting this team too since you cant do much to him after Donphan is dead, the best you can do is wall him with your own, and most heatran users will SR & Roar your team around, so im going to be persistant and ask you try out the mix growth set on venusaur.

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Chlorophyll
Lonely Nature
252 Atk/4 SAtk/252 Spe
-Growth
-Seed Bomb
-Earthquake
-Hidden Power [Fire]

If you dont like it then by all means switch back to the old one as it isnt 100% nessercary, its just nice to have a solid revenge kill against the biggest sun counter in OU, it also means heatran cant wall you after setting up growth.
A large improvement from the original team though, good luck!

You could add Dark Pulse on Ninetales to get surprise KOs on stuff like Reuniclus or Espeon that try and switch in to set up on it. Otherwise, solid choices.
