Introduction:

Hi everyone, my name is Zac73806 and this is my second RMT Post. I constantly glance around and look for teams to use with unusual Pokemon and I'm sure that there are people that do the same thing as I do. This time though I really wanted to use Cresselia, and Gardevoir so lets begin. :)

Team Building Process:

As stated above I really wanted to use Mega-Gardevoir and Cresselia. Mega Gardevoir had been looking really strong from what I was watching on YouTube and I really wanted to try out Pixilate Hyper Voice. So, I did. Cresselia just was a problem for me to take out with my teams for the most part so I decided to see if I could do the same to other people.

It may have seemed quick to add two pokemon like this but I really wanted the Volt Turn momentum. Staraptor with a Choice Band and Reckless can do hefty chunks to anything that switches into it and Choice Scarf Rotom-W beats Talonflame and is rather unexpected to the abundance of the Bulky Rotoms running around now a days.

I wanted a Stealth Rocker who could do some damage and have some priority due to the fact that Staraptor is the only thing on the team other than Mamoswine that could even have priority. Mamoswine can take out Dragons if Gardevoir somehow gets knocked out. The Ice/Ground coverage is also brilliant.

I chose Excadrill to be the last member of this team because of Rapid Spin and Mold Breaker. Everyone knows what Excadrill does but he's really powerful and can chuck loads of opposing Pokemon down in health and allows for easier times for the other members of the team.

In-Depth Sets:

Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Ice Beam
- Psychic
- Light Screen
- Moonlight

Even though Cresselia fell down in usage last gen, she definitely is still an immovable object who just stands between your enemies team and victory. I fun the max defence set due to the fact that Gardevoir is naturally specially defensive and I believe that the Light Screen helps my team more then Reflect would. Ice Beam is for things like Garchomp/Salamence that lock themselves into Outrage and Cresselia can come in, laugh at the Outrage damage, and then hit them hard with an Ice Beam. The rest of the set is fairy simple and I don't think you need me to explain it for you.

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball

Next we have probably one of my favorite mons at the moment, Gardevoir. Mega Gardevoir is a threat guys. Trace is much better than Synchronize due to the fact that you can sometimes get Water Absorbs, Strom Drains, and other abilities of the sort to get free switches and sometimes some nice boosts. The Set itself is fairly straight forward as well. After Pixilate and STAB, Hyper Voice has a base power of ~176 with is incredible. I have Psychic for another STAB move. Calm Mind is kind of iffy for me because I never seem to have to use it because Hyper Voice's raw power is normally enough. Shadow Ball is the final move just for coverage.

Staraptor @ Choice Band
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Quick Attack
- U-turn
- Close Combat

This thing is so strong. I can't even handle it. U-turn momentum can be so important especially when paired with Rotom to get favorable matchups and thats not the only good thing about Staraptor. CB Brave Bird can do a very sizable amount to anyone who comes in its path. Close Combat is for coverage and i'm still not sure about Quick Attack or if there are and better options. Help is appreciated :)

Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash

Mamoswine is also a super strong Poke. Stealth Rocks are really nice to have with the rising usage of Charizard, and all of the Talonflames, Dragonites, and Volcaronas running around in OU. Thick Fat is an option that is far superior then any other ability that Mamo gets. Ice Shard for a Strong Priority and EQ and IC for STAB coverage. The ev's are set up that way so that I can take hits better if my sash isn't available.

Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball

Everytime I use Rotom-W i feel like I'm part of the group that just spams the Number 1 OU Pokemon, but It's just so strong its really hard to not use it. Instead of running the bulky sets I prefer to run the Choice Scarf set. I need the scarfer since 100 Speed is the highest base speed on the team and Rotom-W fills the niche well. The set is extremely standard so I don't feel as if I need to go more into it.

season14_ep33_ss1.jpg

Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

Oh Excadrill. One of the first pokes banned in fifth gen is key supporter of this team. Rapid Spin is really important when you have Staraptor due to the fact that you can't have the extra Stealth Rock damage stack up on Staraptor or else recoil from Brave Bird will take you out too quickly. Just as the set with Rotom-W This is extremely standard and I don't really feel as if it needs a lot of explaining.

Conclusion:

This team has been really strong for me and after about 10-20 games i have not lost with it yet and thought that I'd do a RMT to see if there are any more updates I could make to it to make it more dominant. Thank you to everyone who read the whole thing and left feedback. :)

StruggleMons are something that can cause this team trouble but can be beat with some predicting.

Scizor. Scizor hurts this team a lot. If its an SD Set or a Mega Set its annoying. The team can beat it obviously but it can cause for some problems especially since Cress and Gard can't just handle it due to U-turn/Bug Bite/Bullet Punch.

Sp.D Waters. Well can't particularly hit these super hard. Mamo and Excadrill are weak to them so if Staraptor is gone we could have a bit of a problem.

Mega Mawile. This thing is a problem.

I need help finding more of these.

Overall you look pretty strong to me. The only edit I would make is psyshock over psychic for gardevoir. I use one myself and love it. Psyshock gets you past special walls while still giving you a way to demolish poison types.

Otherwise, good work!

Psyshock seems like it would work well. It'd help against those specially defensive water types. I'll have to try it out

choice scarf talon flame is better than staraptor. talon flame has better attack and paired with choice scarf. plus talonflame has brave bird and flare blitz. staraptor has brave bird and close combat. (but close combat has no STAB) oh and nice one on the gardevoir trace thing. i never thought that your could get extra boosts. oh ya i dont think hyper voice is good for gardivior. take advantage of the new fairy type and use dazziling gleam

sweet team! i really like the gardevoir mamoswine staraptor core. i don't really see what cress is doing for you tbh though. what about replacing it with a lure genesect? I think that could be pretty cool, luring heatran for gardevoir and rotom-w for mamoswine and staraptor. I would run jolly max speed mamoswine, but if max hp works for you, thats cool, but i prefer outspeeding base 70s and under. i'd also use trick on rotom over shadow ball, as I don't really see what extra coverage sb provides, and you can trick a wall and set up on it with garde or gain momentum.

gene
Genesect @ Expert Belt
Ability: Download
EVs: 252 SAtk / 224 Spd / 32 HP
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Ice Beam
- Bug Buzz
- Energy Ball
no point in speed tying genesect b/c the set doesnt have flamethrower

Cress does a lot more then it probably seems. With Light Screen things like Excadrill to take HydroPump from bulky Rotom-W and Lava Plume from Heatran and OHKO. Also most people aren't carrying counters to Cress so it doesn't really die.

i would suggest trying stone edge>icicle crash on Mamoswine. Adamant ice shard hits like a truck and earthquake is your more reliable stab. Stone edge does help with some talonflames that set up on you. you also dont need the evs in hp if you are running focus sash. A fairy good team though.

really choice scarf talonflame? If you were to run one use a band. Anyways staraptor hits like a truck it can 2hko gliscor and rotom w with brave bird

talonflame has better attack then staraptor and with a scarf, he can outspeed much of evrything except pinsir. so with a scarf, talonflame is better then staraptor in both attack and speed

talonflame has base 81 attack it doesnt need choice scarf it has priority brave bird it also has base 126 speed dont run it with a scarf

252+ Atk Talonflame Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 184+ Def Gliscor: 102-121 (28.8 - 34.1%) -- possible 5HKO after Poison Heal

252 Atk Choice Band Reckless Staraptor Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 184+ Def Gliscor: 216-255 (61 - 72%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal

also you should run jolly on raptor to outspeed base 95+ pokes and you can still seal critical ko

Hi, here are my thoughts on the team.

First of all, and I know this is kind of radical, but I would replace Gardevoir's Psychic-type STAB with Focus Blast. Why? Because simply put, the coverage is redundant when you use a Psychic-type move. While Psyshock does about 10% more damage to Chansey than Hyper Voice, Focus Blast lets Gardevoir OHKO specially defensive Heatran, Tyranitar, and Ferrothorn at +1 after Stealth Rock, all Pokemon who otherwise pose a serious threat to Gardevoir.

Next, I would definitely follow lred123's advice and run Jolly on Staraptor instead of Adamant. Underspeeding threats like Charizard, Celebi, Mega Gardevoir, Manaphy, and non-scarf Genesect is simply unacceptable on a Pokemon that can wreck them all.

I would also use Double-Edge over Quick Attack. The damage you can deal to otherwise decent checks and counters to Staraptor such as Zapdos and Thundurus is invaluable to making sure Staraptor can punch holes like it's meant to, and not have to waste HP and turns avoiding the aforementioned foes.

Next, I would change Mamoswine's EV spread to 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe. Unlike Pokemon like Belly Drum Azumarill or Choice Band Scizor, Mamoswine is NOT strong enough, bulky enough, nor naturally fast enough to forfeit speed for bulk. Using full speed lets Mamoswine outspeed crucial threats such as fast variants of Aegislash and Tyranitar and slam them with a much faster Earthquake, or speed tie Adamant Dragonite to hit with Icicle Crash. In addition, on a Pokemon that wants to set up Stealth Rock before it goes down, EVEN with Focus Sash it's better to go for a speedy spread because of how easy it is for the opponent to take away hazards this generation, and the chances that you'll have to re-set Stealth Rock midway through a battle.

On Rotom-W, I would change Shadow Ball to Trick. A super effective Shadow Ball only does about 25 damage more than a STAB Thunderbolt, and being able to permanently cripple Chansey or any other special wall is very beneficial to your team, as your three physical attackers are not particularly resilient (certainly nowhere near as resilient as Chansey). Against an opponent that realizes that, you'd be hard-pressed to keep your rather frail attackers alive long enough to pose a threat to Chansey, but Chansey becomes very easy to beat when Tricked a Choice Scarf. Also, Trick helps a lot against Gastrodon, which you mentioned was a "strugglemon."

Hope this helped.

Dude, mega Gards ability is pixilate, which transforms hyper voice into a fairy type attack and increase its BP by 30%, meaning it gets STAB and hits wayyyy harder than dazzling gleam
