At A Glance.
Introduction:
Hi everyone, my name is Zac73806 and this is my second RMT Post. I constantly glance around and look for teams to use with unusual Pokemon and I'm sure that there are people that do the same thing as I do. This time though I really wanted to use Cresselia, and Gardevoir so lets begin. :)
Team Building Process:
As stated above I really wanted to use Mega-Gardevoir and Cresselia. Mega Gardevoir had been looking really strong from what I was watching on YouTube and I really wanted to try out Pixilate Hyper Voice. So, I did. Cresselia just was a problem for me to take out with my teams for the most part so I decided to see if I could do the same to other people.
It may have seemed quick to add two pokemon like this but I really wanted the Volt Turn momentum. Staraptor with a Choice Band and Reckless can do hefty chunks to anything that switches into it and Choice Scarf Rotom-W beats Talonflame and is rather unexpected to the abundance of the Bulky Rotoms running around now a days.
I wanted a Stealth Rocker who could do some damage and have some priority due to the fact that Staraptor is the only thing on the team other than Mamoswine that could even have priority. Mamoswine can take out Dragons if Gardevoir somehow gets knocked out. The Ice/Ground coverage is also brilliant.
I chose Excadrill to be the last member of this team because of Rapid Spin and Mold Breaker. Everyone knows what Excadrill does but he's really powerful and can chuck loads of opposing Pokemon down in health and allows for easier times for the other members of the team.
In-Depth Sets:
Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Ice Beam
- Psychic
- Light Screen
- Moonlight
Even though Cresselia fell down in usage last gen, she definitely is still an immovable object who just stands between your enemies team and victory. I fun the max defence set due to the fact that Gardevoir is naturally specially defensive and I believe that the Light Screen helps my team more then Reflect would. Ice Beam is for things like Garchomp/Salamence that lock themselves into Outrage and Cresselia can come in, laugh at the Outrage damage, and then hit them hard with an Ice Beam. The rest of the set is fairy simple and I don't think you need me to explain it for you.
Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
Next we have probably one of my favorite mons at the moment, Gardevoir. Mega Gardevoir is a threat guys. Trace is much better than Synchronize due to the fact that you can sometimes get Water Absorbs, Strom Drains, and other abilities of the sort to get free switches and sometimes some nice boosts. The Set itself is fairly straight forward as well. After Pixilate and STAB, Hyper Voice has a base power of ~176 with is incredible. I have Psychic for another STAB move. Calm Mind is kind of iffy for me because I never seem to have to use it because Hyper Voice's raw power is normally enough. Shadow Ball is the final move just for coverage.
Staraptor @ Choice Band
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Quick Attack
- U-turn
- Close Combat
This thing is so strong. I can't even handle it. U-turn momentum can be so important especially when paired with Rotom to get favorable matchups and thats not the only good thing about Staraptor. CB Brave Bird can do a very sizable amount to anyone who comes in its path. Close Combat is for coverage and i'm still not sure about Quick Attack or if there are and better options. Help is appreciated :)
Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
Mamoswine is also a super strong Poke. Stealth Rocks are really nice to have with the rising usage of Charizard, and all of the Talonflames, Dragonites, and Volcaronas running around in OU. Thick Fat is an option that is far superior then any other ability that Mamo gets. Ice Shard for a Strong Priority and EQ and IC for STAB coverage. The ev's are set up that way so that I can take hits better if my sash isn't available.
Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
Everytime I use Rotom-W i feel like I'm part of the group that just spams the Number 1 OU Pokemon, but It's just so strong its really hard to not use it. Instead of running the bulky sets I prefer to run the Choice Scarf set. I need the scarfer since 100 Speed is the highest base speed on the team and Rotom-W fills the niche well. The set is extremely standard so I don't feel as if I need to go more into it.
Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance
Oh Excadrill. One of the first pokes banned in fifth gen is key supporter of this team. Rapid Spin is really important when you have Staraptor due to the fact that you can't have the extra Stealth Rock damage stack up on Staraptor or else recoil from Brave Bird will take you out too quickly. Just as the set with Rotom-W This is extremely standard and I don't really feel as if it needs a lot of explaining.
Conclusion:
This team has been really strong for me and after about 10-20 games i have not lost with it yet and thought that I'd do a RMT to see if there are any more updates I could make to it to make it more dominant. Thank you to everyone who read the whole thing and left feedback. :)

StruggleMons are something that can cause this team trouble but can be beat with some predicting.
Scizor. Scizor hurts this team a lot. If its an SD Set or a Mega Set its annoying. The team can beat it obviously but it can cause for some problems especially since Cress and Gard can't just handle it due to U-turn/Bug Bite/Bullet Punch.
Sp.D Waters. Well can't particularly hit these super hard. Mamo and Excadrill are weak to them so if Staraptor is gone we could have a bit of a problem.
Mega Mawile. This thing is a problem.
I need help finding more of these.
