A must for a team.[OU Sand]

A must for a Team.

This is my first ever RMT on Smogon , so do not blame me if I do anything wrong. Even though this is my first post on Smogon , I am not new as I have been researching about Pokemon since January this year , and decided to sign up now , since my exams are over. This team is a team that is based around the HGSS additions such as Head Smash Aggron , Extremespeed Dragonite , Bug Bite Scizor , etc.

Without further ado , I present you the team:

hippowdon.png

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Careful Nature ( + SDef , - SAtk)
252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
- Roar
- Earthquake

My lead and my Sandstorm starter . Hippowdon serves a very special role in the team as it sets up Sandstorm for my two very powerful sweepers. This Hippowdon is the standard lead Hippowdon just that this one has all its EVs invested in its Special Defense.Stealth Rock is obligatory and helps Aggron score many OHKOs for the team.Slack Off is another move which alows Hippowdon to survive longer to phaze away stat-uppers . Earthquake is a STAB move incase I get Taunted and to OHKO some pokemon with Hippowdon's respectable base Attack. The others are standard and do not require explaining , I guess .

Synergy:

[WATER] attacks go to Latias
[GRASS] attacks go to Latias
[ICE] attacks go to Aggron , Bronzong

nidoking.png

Nidoking @ Life Orb
Timid Nature ( + Spe ,- Atk )
4 HP / 252 Spe / 252 SAtk
-Thunderbolt
-Earth Power
-Ice Beam
-Shadow Ball

One of my favourite pokemon since the start of RBGY. Nidoking was the most powerful pokemon only second to Mewtwo / Mew at that time . Although now many pokemon have surpassed its mediocre stats , its attack prowess gets boosted by Rivalry and Life Orb.With Rivalry and Life Orb , Nidoking does 1.6x the damage on a Male pokemon , with a Neutral-typed move . Since most pokemon in Shoddy are Male, the default , Nidoking does very well, taking advantage of that point. With Ice Beam, Nidoking OHKOs Grass types and Dragon types , should they be paralyzed beforehand . Earth Power is the obligatory STAB , reaching about 300 power after including Life Orb and Rivalry. Earth Power is usually the move I use against all poke neutral or weak to it. Thunderbolt forms the infamous BoltBeam combination and it allows me to hit Water types better , namely Gyarados. Shadow Ball, finally, allows me to hit Mismaguis , as they are more common now , since Nasty Plot is added to their movepool now. After the removal of Alakazam and Rhyperior into UU, Nidoking can sweep better now without Alakazam ruining its fun . The EVs are standard and the EVs allow it to outspeed neutral base 95s.

Synergy
[PSYCHIC] attacks go to Tyranitar , Latias
[WATER] attacks go to Latias
[GROUND] attacks go to Bronzong , Latias
[ICE] attacks go to Bronzong , Aggron

tyranitar.png

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Relaxed Nature ( + Def , - Spe )
252 HP / 68 Atk / 188 Def
- Thunder Wave
- Focus Punch
- Fire Blast
- Substitute

My main status spreader of the team . ParaSub TTar. Tyranitar gets AWESOME defenses in Sandstorm and can take any non Super Effective moves like a champ. Tyranitar is my main Blissey counter in the team , along with Aggron , as Blissey requires 2 Seismic Tosses to break my 101-HPed Substitutes while I OHKO with a 150 powered Focus Punch.Fire Blast allows me to hit Scizor as I can survive a Superpower after the Reflect set up by Bronzong . Tyranitar serves as my main mixed-attacker in the team as well . The EVs allow 101-HP Substitutes, survive one Superpower from a +2 Scizor after Reflect and the rest are pumped into Attack to increase the power of Focus Punch.Tyranitar also serves as my backup Sand Streamer.

Synergy
[FIGHTING] attacks go to Nidoking , Latias , and to an extent , Hippowdon
[BUG] attacks go to Aggron , Nidoking , Hippowdon
[GROUND] attacks go to Latias , Bronzong
[WATER] attacks go to Latias
[GRASS] attacks go to Latias
bronzong.png

Bronzong @ Light Clay
Impish Nature ( + Def , - SAtk)
252 HP / 68 Def / 188 SDef
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Rest
- Explosion

One turn of Screens are enough for my Aggron. One set is all I need. 8 turns , Aggron will have 594 Defense and 488 Special Defense respectively , equivalent to Shuckle's defenses with its higher HP .
Bronzong's main job is simple : Set up screens , Rest is possible , Explode .
Explosion helps me take down one pokemon along with Bronzong most of the time , shortening Aggron's sweep by 1 pokemon . The EVs allow maximum HP and equivalent Defenses. Light Clay increases the turns of Reflect and Light Screen to 8 turns .
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Synergy

[FIRE] attacks go to Latias , Tyranitar

latias.png

Latias @ Life Orb
Bold Nature ( + Def , - Atk )
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
- Thunder Wave
- Recover
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [ Fire ]

My second paralyzer of the team which finally HAS a recovery move.Latias also serves as my team's ''synergizer'' , as it takes my Water weakness and Grass weakness very well. It has complete synergy with Bronzong ,Aggron and Tyranitar as well , resisting all their weaknesses while they resist Latias's weaknesses . Latias gains perfect coverage with its two moves. Dragon Pulse hits every pokemon available , while Hidden Power Fire hits the Steel types resistant to Dragon Pulse . With these EVs , Latias survives 2 Bullet Punches from Scizor or a Pursuit , and OHKOs back with Hidden Power [ Fire ] , if it is the standard Choice Band one without Rain . Life Orb boosts Latias's moves by 30% more , and Recovery helps negate the recoil damage . Latias is an important member of my team .

Synergy

[ICE] attacks go to Bronzong , Aggron
[DRAGON] attacks go to Bronzong , Aggron
[GHOST] attacks go to Tyranitar , Aggron
[DARK] attacks go to Tyranitar , Aggron
[BUG] attacks go to Aggron , Hippowdon , Nidoking

aggron.png

Aggron @ Choice Band
Careful Nature ( + SDef , - SAtk )
80 HP / 176 Atk / 252 SDef
- Head Smash
- Earthquake
- Superpower
- Fire Punch

The god of all rock types . Hail the Aggron . Aggron serves as my team's main focus . In Sand , Aggron can take 15 resisted hits without dying if they are physical. Aggron's new STAB move , Head Smash , has more power than a 252 Attack Adamant CB Rampardos ( about 704 Attack ) , with just 56 Atk EVs . That new move , having 225 power , including STAB , OHKOs every pokemon that is not resistant to it . The recoil damage is negated by Aggron's Rock Head ability , which is the best ability in the game , in my opinion . Pokemon resistant to Head Smash get OHKOed by Earthquake , who gets perfect coverage , with Head Smash . Only pokemon who resist this combination are Steels with the Levitate ability , Bronzong especially . Superpower and Fire Punch are just random selected moves who are not used once in over 200 battles as Head Smash just OHKOs any random poke they send out . With Reflect , Aggron is capable of surviving a CB Scizor's Superpower . Pretty good , eh ? If you havent used CB Aggron out , I suggest you use it now , as it will not disappoint you . The EVs now . 252 SDef allows me to hit about 500 SDef in Sandstorm and can now switch in easier. 176 Atk allows me to ''outpower'' 252 Atk Adamant Rampardos' Head Smash and to 2HKO max Def / max HP Skarmory. The rest are pumped into HP to increase its overall defenses.

The most common Physical walls are :

-Skarmory
-Dusknoir
-Cresselia
-Suicune
-Aggron
-Gliscor
-Rhyperior
-Bronzong
-Hippowdon
-Rotom Formes
-Swampert

All of them get 3HKOed at least by Aggron , with 252 HP / 252 Def EVs , + Def Nature . But , how many physically defensive pokemon pump max Def and HP ? That is why Aggron is such a good sweeper . <3 Aggron.

Rate away thanks .

4 Water weaks , 3 Ice weaks are my main concern.

Wat? 500 sp. def in sandstorm for Aggron?
He hits 328 IIRC in the sand, not 500... not even Tyranitar hits that much(only Bastiodon and Probopass surpasses the 500 sp.def). You can't really count Reflect/Light Screen since they are not guaranteed and fades out after 10 turns.

What do you want with a Rest/Explosion Bronzong? His only attack will kill itself, Rest is useless on that kind of Bronzong. Switch for EQ/Gyro Ball.

Switch Hippowdon evs to def. So it can take hits and wall/counter physical pokes better.

Nidoking is ok. Though Rivalry does not boost the moves by 1.6.

Tyranitar as a status spreader? Why? And 2 sandstream users in the same team? Oh well...

And finally, LO shortens the life of Latias with Sandstorm. Even with Recover.

Vaporeon os a good replace, being immune to water and resisting ice, and being able to pass wish to someone. I say take Tyranitar out for Vaporeon.

Sorry , must have doubled it instead of multiplying it by 1.5x . Thanks for that nitpick though.

That is a good suggestion on Bronzong.I will try it.

Tyranitar incase Hippo dies and the opposing team sets up Rain / Sun / Hail .

Vaporeon is agood one too.

Close Combat from Infernape can srsly dent your team and if Latios comes in, itll take a max of 40%. if he comes in to Revenge Kill, then your Aggron is srsly screwed. Even if u come in with Bronzong, Infernape might carry Fire Blast or EQ to end it. Latias might come into Infernape, but if Infernape carries a U-Turn, then Latias will have a massive dent in it. So I recommend that you exchange one pokemon for Gyrados to counter a possible Infernape Sweep

Hey, are you forgetting someone? Max Sp.Def Cradily hits 516 in sand..

I've changed the team abit.

I know I am Infernape weak . Most Napes carry HP Ice nowadays . Therefore , I think Gyarados is a good idea for the team .

Next , I have decided to use Cradily in the team. Cradily can be used as my Special Wall in the team as it hits 516 SpDef as the previous poster mentioned . I think I will run the Toxic / Stockpile / Recover / Stone Edge set , but I need suggestions .

Once anyone gives comments on my changes made to the team , I will work out if they are useful to my team or just causing more trouble to the team.

Well, if your opting to use Cradily you should change Bronzong > Cradily as Bronzong won't do good..As listed in your moveset, I agree with the previous poster mentioned that that Rest and Explosion doesn't go well...Anyways if your going for Cradily I suggest this set...

Cradily@Leftovers
Toxic / Stockpile / Recover / Earthquake or protect /
96 HP / 160 Def / 252 Sp.Def /
Careful Nature

It's your choice whether you'll use Earthquake or protect, If your going to stall use protect but if you think that you'll need an attack then use Earthquake...The given ev's allow Cradily to be bulky..96 HP ev's put's Cradily's HP at 337 and 160 ev's put's Cradily's Def at 270...
