Well I started off by trying to build a team around Electivire. I thought Jirachi would make a good lead because it could come back in later on in the game and help out my team using trick or scouting with U-Turn. Gyrados is there to attract electric attacks so i could then switch into Electivire to absorb the incoming electric attack. I also us Gyrados as a possible switch in on a ground attack aimed at Electivire. Electivire is basically my physical sweeper. It has great type coverage and expert belt to boost those Super-Effective moves even more. He also takes any electric attack i can predict. Lucario is a bit of a special sweeper and a revenge killer. He can come in on anything previously weakened and Vacuum Wave it. Gardevoir is there for basic team support and to cripple physical attackers with ever so important burns since i dont save many pokes on this team that could take physical hits like a champ. Gengar is sort of another special sweeper i guess. He's there to take out pesky psychic types and to take incoming ground attacks. (=
Jirachi@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature - Jolly
- Iron Head
- Stealth Rock
- U-Turn
- Trick
I personally love Jirachi as a lead. It can use Iron Head to flinch Azelf and Aerodactyl 60% of the time, and then OHKO on the next Iron Head. This means that more than half of the time my opponent won’t be able to get rocks up. After I KO their lead I’ll usually try and U-Turn out if they switch to a counter or set up rocks if they don’t. I usually expect Rachi to stick around awhile.
Gyrados@ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 248 Def / 12 Spe
Nature - Impish
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Waterfall
- Roar
I basically use Gyrados to take water attacks and for intimidate. I can switch in on predicted electric ground attacks due to ground resistance. I also use him to draw electric attacks for Electivires Motor Drive.
Electivire@ Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature - Adamant
- ThunderPunch
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
My physical sweeper of this team. I use it to deal Super-Effective damage to 13 out of the 17 types of pokemon. The amazing type coverage on this thing is what really draws me to it. I can great damage to a lot of pokes, which leads to a great sweeper. People may argue that the mixed set is better but, I don’t think so.
Lucario @ Choice Specs
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature - Modest
- Aura Sphere
- Shadow Ball
- Vacuum Wave
- Hidden Power Rock
I use this Lucario as a special sweeper/Revenge Killer. It has ok type coverage and a good special STAB move in Aura Sphere. I like Lucario as a Special Sweeper mainly because of his Superior Special attack stat.
Gardevoir @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 48 SpA / 176 SpD / 32 Spe
Nature - Modest
- Wish
- Will-O-Wisp
- Psychic
- ThunderBolt
I love Gardevoir. Gardevoir can support my team by passing wishes on to its teammates. It can also inflict burns to cripple physical sweepers. It can also do damage when it has to. It’s basically its ability to heal my team and to burn opponents that drew me to it.
Gengar @Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature - Timid
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power Fire
Gengar. I think of Gengar as my main special sweeper. I kinda think of this set as more replaceable then I do of Gengar but, if it’s a better idea to just replace Gengar altogether than it’s a possibility.
