SS OU A Noob's Attempt at HO

This is my first RMT,so if I have made any stupid mistakes I am sorry. So, I have been playing in showdown for quite some time, trying new teams sometimes cooking cutting other teams and modifying them. Now I tried to make a Hyper Offense team of my own for the General 8. When it does get me some wins it faulters a lot , I don't know how to improve it, so all suggestions are welcome.

The Team :

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Yawn
- Whirlwind
- Slack Off

After trying a lot of leads I finally settled on Hippowdown it serves as a great lead as a well as a phaser, yawn really helps in forcing out switches and coupled with stealth rock and whirlwind does remarkable chip damage, though taunt shuts down this set completely.

Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Mirror Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Roost
- Iron Head

Corviknight is my pivot and blanket check to a lot of Physical pokemon, it also forces threats like clefable or Primarina to switch out, giving me an extra turn, Body press is an amazing move and helps get ride of threats like Hydreigon and Bisharp in certain situations, and Iron head is pretty nifty for the fairy types. Though it is heavily walled by other corviknight and Mandibuzz.

Gyarados @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Power Whip

Gyarados is my main wallbreaker and does at terrifyingly good job at it, provided it's checks and counters are taken care of, once it gets going it is nigh impossible to stop, however it often gets walled by bulky pokemon carrying leech seed, or toxic and other status move, and the main threat is Zeraora who forces switches.

Zeraora @ Expert Belt
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Plasma Fists
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- Bulk Up

My Other Wall Breaker and one of the most terrifying ones of this generation, works pretty well is synch with Gyarados, Once I set it up and get going not many are safe from it however, it is extremely frail and often gets taken out with priority moves and such.

Dragapult @ Life Orb
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- U-turn
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Thunder

The Teams Speed control and special sweeper, U-turn gives it amazing momentum and Shadow Ball, Thunder And Draco meteor mostly weaken or take out most of the pokemon, however with loads of coverage options it has to be brought in with a lot of care, so it doesn't get revenge killed.

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Knock Off

And Last but definitely not the least the teams revenge killer cum sweeper, with boosted sucker punch it often becomes the win con for the team. However it can often be outplayed if I am not carefully enough.

So that is the team, the main problem is that If Gyarados nd Bisharp and Dragapult gets taken out early on, the team is pretty much done for. And achieveing sweeps and wins with this team is very situational, with so many monstrous pokemon with strong coverages running around in the meta.

Heyyos! Nice team you've got here~ HO is a very strong team style and I wanted to post after the suspect test but I think it's perfectly fine to do some adjustments to make this team more offensive and destructive in nature. Since your team is HO and is based around stacking threats to overload checks, lets focus your team around that concept!

First, when we are playing HO, we wanna focus on putting up hazards and quickly applying pressure on your opponent's team. Therefore, having Hippowdon in this team is good as a pivot but it's counter intuitive as it causes you to lose momentum instead of applying pressure. For that, we need to change our rocker to one that is able to quickly rack up damage and set up rocks at the same time. I've used a couple of hazard setters but I think the best setter for HO at the moment is between Excadrill and Terrakion. Using Excadrill will be much more better because rapid spin allows you to get a +1 in speed, remove opposing lead hazards and set up rocks as well. It also means you may need to play the 5050 game but I personally think Excadrill is very required for your team and will help you out more than Terrakion will in the long run. Furthermore for your team, having a strong ground stab in the form of Earthquake is really essential in wearing down opposing teams to ensure your mons like Gyarados and Zeraora can clean up more easily. Also, I would advise to never ever run a mon that is entirely taunt bait for your future team building as it is simply a waste of momentum should you get taunted.

Next change that is important for your team is to change up another defensive mon for another balanced offensive mon to use. This change would mean that we should go from Corviknight to Air Balloon Aegislash. We will use a specially offensive set here because 1. your team's only other specially offensive mon is Dragapult and having more specially oriented mons is key in ensuring that you dont get out walled when dealing with big fat physical threats. 2. We will use Air Balloon to allow you to freely switch in early game into Excadrills that like to rapid spin on you to gain speed. It also allows you a leeway to pivot and keep your excadrill / zeraora alive from the occasional scarf excadrill. Using Steel Beam is important in this team because you want to have maximum output on your aegislash to ensure that it's common switch ins (Mandibuzz, Corviknight and friends) are forced to go for the heal, giving you momentum to double into mons like Zeraora.

Last major change here is the swap from Dragapult to Scarf Rotom-H. Normally I don't recommend nor give rates that result in the change of more than 2 mons because it might change the entire structure of the team. However, because your aim is to use HO and I believe that you want to facilitate the sweep by using HDB Gyarados, I think you will want to have a mon that has immediate speed to outspeed and kill any potential threats against your team. Trick Scarf Rotom-H is really good for your team because 1. it gives you a levitate user which is good once your Aegislash's air balloon is popped and 2. it gives you a way to gain momentum via Volt Switch and doesnt stack up your weakness to Knock off. This allows you to pivot around opposing mons more easily and thus is a change I would recommend. Trick Scarf also allows you to cripple potential walls that like to switch in like Seismitoad and allows your Zeraora / Gyarados to clean up a lot more easily. You can also opt to run trick Ring Target but that is only if you're comfortable with lack of a speed control on your HO team.

Firstly, despite Bisharp's low speed, I think it is still absolutely necessary to run max speed in order to ensure you don't lose to max speed Aegislash and tie aganst opposing max speed Bisharp.

Other than the changes I listed above, I think your team is fundamentally already pretty solid to work with. Play this team aggressively and fast to overload opposing walls and I'm sure you will rack up wins and experiences. Cheers! Have fun and stay safe during this time of uncertainty /cheers/
