A odd but pretty decent team

Well, after playing a few OU matches I decided to show off my OU team and let critics tear it to pieces :D Although some of my team is pretty standard I love creating new sets and being as original as possible. The idea of this team is really simple it was two walls who set up hazards, a sweeper and a few threats to deal with your opponents team so let's dive right into it.

Forretress/Naughty/Sturdy/Lum Berry or normal gem.

252 defense/ 252 attack/ 4 SP defense.

Toxic Spikes/Stealth Rocks/Heavy Slam/Explosion

Forretress is a really reliable lead. With the ability sturdy you are assured to at least get up your rocks and maybe a layer or two of toxic spikes. Heavy Slam is there in case you don't want to explode right away. I personally like to run Lum Berry on Forretress because some leads like to paralyze/volt switch things around and the Lum berry delays them a turn. I didn't put any EV's in HP because even though it is a good defensive wall, it's main job is to place hazards. Also it's really nice to have Forretress as most carry rapid spin. Since this set doesn't have rapid spin you can always bluff like you have a spinner when you really don't.

Ferrothorn/Iron Barb/Relaxed/Leftovers

252 Hp/252 Defense/4 Sp Defense

Spikes/Leach Seed/Protect/Power Whip

This is a fairly standard Ferrorthorn so I won't waste much of your time explaining it. Set up more hazards and sponge just about any hit.

That's about it for walls. Now let's move onto the main threats.

Gengar/Modest/Levitate/Black Sludge

252 Sp Attack/252 Speed/ 4 Hp

Substitute/Hypnosis/Shadow Ball/ Sludge Bomb

This is a different Gengar set then you are used to seeing I'm sure. The main purpose of this Gengar is to put something to sleep then set up a sub on it. With dual STAB moves it can hit anything for damage. Some may argue that Hypnosis is a horrible move with too low of accuracy but hey this isn't your team it's mine. While I agree 60% isn't the best if you are like me hypnosis hits more then focus blast *Nintendo Logic* Others run something like HP fire to deal with ferrorthorns but I really like this set and I have a different Pokemon to deal with ferrothorn.

Lucario/Modest/Inner Focus/Choice Specs

252 SP attack/252 Speed/4 Hp

Aura Sphere/Flash Cannon/HP Dragon/Shadow Ball

This is another probably different set Aura Sphere and Flash Cannon are just for STAB moves. HP Dragon is to deal with any threats like Salamence or Garchomp that might think Lucario can't touch them. The only reason why I don't run Dragon Pulse is just for the element of surprise. Since dragon does neutral damage to just about everything it's a nice thing to have. Choice specs is there just for the added boost.

Volcarona/Modest/Flame Body/Life Orb

252 Sp attack/252 Speed/4 Hp

Bug Buzz/Fiery Dance/U-Turn/Quiver Dance
We finally reached the last threat on this OU team. Volcarona is just there to deal with Ferrorthorns. That is really the only reason why I included it. It can do heavy damage against lots of Pokemon but it's main job is to threaten out Ferrorthorns and to stop them from setting up.

Ok, you still here? Time for the last Pokemon, the sweeper.

Salamence/Choice Scarf/Adamant/Moxie

252 Attack/252 Speed/4 Hp

Outrage/Dragon Claw/Earthquake/Zen Headbutt

Yes, I'm sure you've all been swept by one before I know I have. The scarf/moxie Salamence. Possibly one of the best Sweepers in the OU tier. You get a couple moxie boosts on Salamence you can just destroy everything with Dragon Claw. Again this is a fairly standard set so no real explanation needed.

So yeah that's the OU team I've been using recently. Any questions/comments/complaints leave them below. Happy ranting! Cheers, ^_^

Hey!

You have a decent team here, but I guess it can be improved with some changes.

Firstly, Forretress. If you want a lead set, try out Custap Skarmory over your current set, if you want a more reliable hazard lead.

Next, Ferrothorn. Given the offensive nature of your team, I guess Ferrothorn kills too much momentum. I'm not entirely sure what you can replace it with, so maybe you should wait for future rates.

Now, I see problems with your Gengar. You should really use Timid>Modest. The extra power maybe nice, but not better than losing to Terrakion, Keldeo, Latia@s, Garchomp and Thundurus-T. Next replace Slugde Bomb with Focus Blast. Sludge Bomb maybe STAB, but Ghost/Poison is hard-walled by Steel types, so Focus Blast will surely help. You can keep Hypnosis if you want, though I suggest giving Pain Split or Disable a shot.

Next, I lol'd at your Lucario, because I really don't understand what "element of surprise" does HP Dragon has over Dragon Pulse. Also, the Specs set isn't that great either - it isn't crazy powerful or anything, especially compared to Specs Latios or Specs Keldeo. So, Swords Dance Lucario is what you should be using as it gives you a secondary sweeper, if Salamence dies or anything.
If you really want to use Specs, change your moves to Aura Sphere/Dark Pulse/HP Ice/Vacuum Wave. Perfect coverage along with priority (though I recommend Swords Dance).

Your Volcarona is pretty nice, except for one thing - U-Turn. If you're running offensive Volcarona, you shouldn't be looking to switch out to much, instead just set up and sweep. So, I recommend HP Ground> U-Turn to beat Heatran, which seems problematic for you team.

Lastly, good ol' Scarf MoxieMence. Now, as good as it might be, this meta just makes its life so difficult. Terrakion, Keldeo, Latios, Garchomp, Thundurus-T and Mamoswine are some extremely common Pokemon who often use a Scarf (except Mamo) and thus, can revenge kill Salamence regardless of what set its using. Now, I recommend Latios> Salamence just because how easily it keep your team from getting swept. It outruns and OHKOes just about the whole meta, and if you're using Swords Dance Lucario, you have another late game sweeper.

tl;dr

Forretress --> Custap Skarmory

Gengar
~ Modest --> Timid
~ Sludge Bomb --> Focus Blast

Lucario
~ Current set --> Swords Dance

Volcarona
~ U-Turn --> HP Ground

Salamence --> Choice Scarf Latios

Sets:
Skarmory @ Custap Berry
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Brave Bird

Lucario @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance

Latios @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpAtk/252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Trick/ Dragon Pulse

Thanks for the tips.

Honestly I like Forrestress for two reasons.

A: He is my only Stealth Rocker

B: He can bluff the rapid spin.

I agree Skarmory is both better defensively and Offensively.

I do notice that more and more Lucarios are running SD sets which is precisely why I'm running Specs.

For Gengar and Volcarnoa I'll probably change those and Salamence I really like having a moxie sweeper.

Thanks for your suggestions.
