A Pure White Beginning
Intro
'ello, fellow Smogonites. I welcome one and all to the viewing of my first RMT! I had many teams prior to the team I am about to show you, but they weren't very effective in today's current metagame. After the rise and fall of many of my teams, one stood up, out of the ashes of my failed teams, and managed to hold its own against many of my friends. It may not be a flawless team, or even a good one. But one man's trash may be another man's treasure. On this team, I tried to promote the balance between stall and offense. I also added bits and pieces of Volt-Turning, Set-up sweeping, Choiced attacking, and a plethora of various options. Please, once again, one man's trash is another man's treasure, so please, don't post comments like "your team sux more than u". Thank you all in advance for reading this, and now, the moment we've all been waiting for has come!
The Team...
Jirachi @ Choice Scarf Raichi
Trait: Serene Grace
EV(s): 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Jolly (+Spe, -SpAtk)
-Iron Head
-Trick
-Thunderpunch
-Stealth Rock
Jirachi, oh Jirachi. In my eyes, you are the cutest 'mon in existence. I always wanted to try out a lead Jirachi. Being Jolly and equipped with a choice scarf, Jirachi can outspeed most other leads, and then use Trick to swap items *evil laugh*. A lead locked into Stealth Rock won't be able to do anything more, where afterwards I can safely set up Stealth Rock, predicting the almost certain switch. I usually like to save my Jirachi for later, so if I see the leads that can cause Rachi problems, the most prominent being Metagross and Heatran, but Infernape can be seen too from time to time, I can switch in Heatran to anything they throw at Jirachi (Fire and Ground-type attacks) while he still has an Air Balloon. Iron Head is infamous for it's flinch hax, and I just LOVE flinching poor Pokesmon to death. Thunderpunch is for those bulky Water-types who think they can switch in on cute little Jirachi, such as Gyarados and Vaporeon.
I named Jirachi "Raichi" because it makes the once cute Jirachi into the Super-cute Jirachi!
Scizor(m) @ Choice Band Crimsect
Trait: Technician
EV(s): 250 HP/252 Atk/8 SpDef IV(s):29 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk)
-U-Turn
-Bullet Punch
-Superpower
-Pursuit
Scizor: The definition of Overused, Revenge Killer, and Gengar's worst nightmare. The standard Choice Band set, although so predictable that a coconut would know what it's moveset was, is still arguably the best moveset for Scizor. I gave this Scizor 29 Speed EVs so that it could go last U-Turning against another Scizor with 30 or 31 Speed EVs. U-Turning is great on Scizor, receiving STAB and according to a battle with my cousin, it can OHKO almost everything weak to it. Bullet Punch's measly base power of 40 is doubled with Technician, and it receives STAB, so it is a must-have. Superpower is for those pesky Tyranitar, and is just an awesome attack to have, even though the Attack drop is disappointing. Pursuit is the answer to Gengar, Alakazam, and all the Pokemon of the Ghost or Psychic typing. Sadly, Scizor's quadruple weakness to fire is a let-down, so Heatran and Rotom-W are excellent partners to Scizor, taking no and resisted damage from fire-type attack, respectively.
I named Scizor "Crimsect" 'cause he's a Crimson insect, for crying out loud!
Heatran(m)@ Air Balloon U Mad,Bro?
Trait: Flash Fire
EV(s): 248 HP/252 SpDef/8 Spe
Nature: Calm (+SpDef, -Atk)
-Lava Plume
-Toxic
-Earth Power
-Roar
Heatran dominated DPP OU, and continues to thrive in today's metagame. Telling by the EV spread and moveset, this Heatran is specially defensive. But, you ask, why is it holding an air balloon and not leftovers? Well, Heatran and Jirachi share amazing synergy with each other except for one thing: They are both weak to ground. So, for example, if I see a Metagross lead, it would either set up rocks or use Earthquake(which I see more often.)so I'd switch in my Heatran, who can float with air balloon. Since air balloon usually signals an offensive set, they switch out into something that can take my attacks, where soon after, Jirachi is once again able to switch in safely for the Trick and/or Stealth Rock. Lava Plume is a good move on defensive Fire-types like Heatran, which has a fair amount to burn. I chose Toxic over Will-o-wisp because Lava Plume's high burn chance is usually enough to burn. Instead of Protect, I decided to run Earth Power to hit things that resist Lava Plume. Lastly, I use Roar to phaze those dangerous set-up sweepers out there.
I named my Heatran "U Mad,Bro?" because well, it can trick many opponents because of its air balloon, and his exceptional walling capabilities.
Rotom-W@ Leftovers Appliance
Trait: Levitate
EV(s): 108 HP/252 SpAtk/ 150 Spe
Nature: Modest (+SpAtk, -Atk)
-Pain Split
-Volt Switch
-Will-O-Wisp
-Hydro Pump
Rotom-W, my bulky attacker. It works excellently as a bulky water, and maybe a mid to late game sweeper. Along with Scizor, they become a dynamic duo. Fire-type attacks aimed at Scizor hit Rotom instead, and Grass-type moves aimed at Rotom get a jolt of terror as I switch in Scizor. I ran Modest because of the boost th Special Attack. Rotom's best attack is probably Volt Switch, and Rotom can possibly KO Skarmory with it according to previous experiences against defensive variants. Pain Split is Rotom's most reliable way of recovery, saving me against many bulky threats such as Reuniclus and Conkeldurr.
Will-O-Wisp, I love you. Let's say Scizor swept 2 of my 'mons. The modest Rotom steps up to Scizor, the almighty king, and then burns it with Will-O-Wisp, ending it's short reign of terror. With Will-O-Wisp, a physical attacker will think twice before switching into my Rotom. Hydro Pump is basically there for coverage, and to attack ground-types for Super-effective damage.
I named my Rotom-W "Appliance" because, well, um... I had no more ideas. *sighs*
Gliscor(m)@ Flying Gem CaveDwella
Trait: Sand Veil
EV(s): 252 Atk/6 Def/252 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk)
-Swords Dance
-Acrobatics
-Earthquake
-Substitute
AcroBAT Gliscor, my favorite variant of Gliscor. Switching out, predicting the Protect to activate Toxic Orb, my Gliscor gets a free Substitute up. I then get a Swords Dance, putting Gliscor at +2, and then Acrobating and Quaking poor Pokemon to death. He is a great mid-game sweeper, and he loves trolling sandstorm teams. Oh Sand-Veil. Such a useful ability. You all now why Substitute and Swords Dance are there, turning a deadly-looking bat into a deadly bat. Acrobatics is awesome, slashing away at every Pokemon that doesn't resist it. Earthquake is there to hit Heatran, Steels, and Terrakion. Gliscor can be a secret weapon in every battle against sandstorm teams.
I named Gliscor "CaveDwella" because it's the ghetto version of Cave Dweller, which Gliscor is.
Lucario(m)@ Life Orb Oprah
Trait:Inner Focus
EV(s): 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Agility
-Close Combat
-Crunch
-Ice Punch
Say hello to my late-game Sweeper. Lucario is a beast 'cause 1. It's a jackal. 2. It can OHKO almost anything in the metagame. I can use Agility and make Lucario middling BS in Speed of 90 to be able to outspeed Base 108s like Infernape and Terrakion. Now that Lucario can blaze through his faster rivals, he is a threat that nobody wants to deal with. Close Combat is for Blissey, rocks, and is his main STAB, Crunch is for Pyschics and Gengar nicely, and Dragon/Flying types who think they can switch in on him get greeted by a 4x effective Ice Punch to the face.
I named my Lucario "Oprah" because he is the most awesome Pokemon I've ever used.
Threats
Even though I have decent synergy on my team, it still isn't flawless. I usually have trouble with bulky waters like Vaporeon, I have a pretty big issue with Conkeldurr, if it wasn't for Gliscor I'd be in a tight spot. The Latis are decent threats to my team, for most of them carry HP Fire, which Lucario, Scizor, and Jirachi despise. Breloom isn't much of a problem because almost everyone is faster than him and carries a super-effective move against him. Hetran and Metagross can be threats, but are stopped in their tracks by Gliscor. T-Tar is no threat to me, unless somehow he can set up a few Dragon Dances. Politoed is hit hard by Rotom-W, and Ninetales stands 0 chance. Gyarados is hit so hard by Rotom-W that it makes him cry. Landorus is not a big threat, 'cause Lucario can hit him with an Ice Punch, along with Tornadus. The Dragons can be mildly annoying but are usually taken out. Those are most of the offensive threats that I've faced, if there are more PLEASE post, it'd help me a lot. Most defensive threats aren't actually a big deal according to my experiences. Once again, please reply if I have a problem on breaking walls. I think I covered most threats there.
Conclusion
Did you enjoy my post, everyone? It took me hours to make this, and I hope you are satisfied. I have no Stealth Rock weak Pokemon, which is a huge thing in today's metagame. If there is something I forgot to cover, just let me know. Well, there it is, guys! My Pure White Beginning!
