SM OU a really bad webs team

144.jpg

so I made this team in like 5 minutes for the purpose of breaking through low ladder quickly on new alts (around like 1400 maybe) and i also wanted to use mega mawile but then i got to 1500 so im basically the best pokemon player alive after somalia, but i want to try to make the team better because it seems cool and i like buzzwole. i made this months ago (a few months after sm came out) and i just found the start of this in my drafts i guess

the hands (Mawile-Mega) @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 48 HP / 252 Atk / 208 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
- Thunder Punch
- Fire Fang

The first pokemon that came to my mind when i started the mindset of building a sticky webs team. even before the webs user somehow. anyway, shits fire. 208 speed EVs helps it outspeed mons that hit 180 speed, like skarmory and azu and stuff without the need of webs. ok while writing this out im not actually sure why there's so much speed on it ive forgotten what i was thinking of when making this set, and im just gonna leave it like that because idk what to change it to. its four attack because sd isnt really necessary, nor is iron head since play rough 2hkos like everything thats neutral. fire fangs cool for catching ferros and scizors and that type of stuff, while thunder punch is for a 100% accurate move vs celesteela and it hits tapu fini hard as shit, and can also catch heatrans switching in for damage.

i be sharp (Bisharp) @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance

since sm first launched bisharps usage has dropped a lot (at least from the battles im getting) possibly because the knock off nerf or z crystals? idk but i still love this bitch. black glasses because iron head gets the same 2hkos anyway. the rest is pretty standard, its good for switching into defogs and stuff, since people are always in a rush to clear off webs, understandably

dont taunt (Smeargle) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sticky Web
- Destiny Bond/Explosion
- Stealth Rock
- Spore

finally, the webs setter. pretty self explanatory id think. i only chose smeargle over shuckle because of spore and to avoid giving the opponent control. destiny bond is my preference, since people love switching in tangrowths and stuff thinking they're geniuses predicting spore, and brainlessly click giga drain twice. explosion is alright too to prevent defog or being setup fodder. a lot of people like magic coat as a fourth move, but it always makes me overthink and click it when it turns out more often than not their lead doesnt carry taunt

landorus-therian.gif

iCe mOveS (Landorus-Therian) @ Rockium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- U-turn
- Stone Edge

i originally had lando with the generic defensive set, but i changed my mind because who needs pivots amirite? sets pretty self explanatory, and works stall after an sd after some damage on skarm and if they forget EVs on tangrowth and if their clef is magic guard

greninja.gif

frogadier (Greninja) @ Choice Specs/Choice Scarf
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Water Shuriken
- Surf
- Dark Pulse
- U-turn/Spikes

another self explanatory set, its the fastest mon on the team. i like specs because it hits pretty dang hard, but scarf also is cool if u want to outspeed the meta, like shift gear mag and stuff. i like uturn over spikes because momentum over everything heck yeah kowabanga bazinga

buzzwole.gif

buzzswole (Buzzwole) @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Leech Life
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

tbh this shit was mad underwhelming when it came out, how tf does this have less attack than lando-t, it got swole in its name... but anyway, this serves as my "pivot" (term used extremely loosely) and its fat as heck unless ur opponents a pussy and uses special attacks. it checks stuff like zygarde and garchomp and other strong grounds (pretty much any physical attacker that doesnt have a stab thats super effective). u also sub on them and get to work. and beast boosts racks tf up. no fighting stab needed because earthquake hits heatran well enough. ur walled by skarm but just thunder punch that bitch with mawile

Here's some calcs that literally mean nothing except to further explain the mawile set and show off buzzwoles natural bulk:
252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Thunder Punch vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 176-208 (52.8 - 62.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Celesteela: 300-354 (75.3 - 88.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 72 HP / 0 Def Buzzwole: 76-90 (20.3 - 24.1%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Pure Power Medicham-Mega High Jump Kick vs. 72 HP / 0 Def Buzzwole: 132-156 (35.3 - 41.8%) -- 86.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

this team loses to scarf lele and magearna after 1 shift gear, as well as most other pokemon above B- in viability rankings, which is why i only used it up until 1500

u can beat rain if u play well and if they dont expect tpunch on mawile vs pelipper

if u cant keep webs up ull probably lose to any form of HO

also loses to mono fly

yeah this rmt is pretty unprofessional but this team is pretty fun if the opponent doesnt know what they're doing, i havent done an rmt in a while so just thot i would now i guess

please recommend better sets/pokemon to use i havent laddered since mega mane was released, i understand lopunny and gard and gallade have been released as well

here's the importable idk how to do the tab thing where u click it and it appears so:

here are few changes you could make.
1.add magic coat over dbond on smeargle it helps vs taunt users like koko, lele ,etc.
2. rock polish or sub+smack down over stone edge>u-turn. this change mainly because on these teams pokemon prefer to setup or double on a predicted switch instead of u-turning out and lose the boost in certain situations.
3. add a spinblocker>buzzwole. This ensures that the hazards stay on the field.
I hope my rate helps you have a great day.

magic coat is a good thing to consider, i just havent ran into enough situations to choose it over destiny bond/explosion, possibly because i didnt get too high on the ladder.

i thought about running sub over uturn at first, but i found uturn useful to bring in mawile or buzzwole on things that usually switch into lando (skarmory, opposing lando, tangrowth, etc). although a defensive set with helm/lefties would be better for this purpose, the current offensive set is more threatening to some teams, and can be a late game wincon in rare occasions with sd.

also, what spin blocker would you recommend? do u mean a pokemon that beats spinners, or a legit ghost type to block? the main (if not the only) spinner in ou is exca, which is soft checked by lando (even tho lando's 0 bulk) and solidly checked/countered by buzzwole. but i agree, a spinblocker would b nice, just not sure what would be a good one.

I can recommend mimikyu with z-move, because it's awesome with web support and changing lando to pivot, or just life orb if you don't wanna give your z-slot.
