Got pretty tired of using and seeing the same old 'grass-fire-water' + Steel/rock type teams, so I felt like trying something new. Basically, this team uses a mixture of Fire and Fighting attacks to wear down the opponents counters for those types. Most importantly, however, was building a fresh and somewhat-unorthadox team to have fun with.
Entei @ Expert Belt
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 40 Atk/216 Spd/252 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Eruption
- Stone Edge
A great lead found by Exclamation Point with a few changes. More Speed to beat Uxie, non-scarf Moltres and Arcanine all the time, 2 or OHKOing them, as well as dealing with alot of other leads. My main strategy is to rough up the opponent from the beginning, and if they bring out a bulky water, I usually stay in and hit with HP Electric to take a big chunk out of them. Expert Belt lets me fake CS, since that's usually the item on somethin with Eruption. I'm considering switching to a Sunny Day verison of this to really screw over water types and setup Blaziken, although I think Arcanine would do that better.
Poliwrath (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Focus Punch
- Waterfall
- Substitute
- Encore
This has become a really fun and cool staple on many of my teans. Water Absorb is such a great ability, giving a Water resist and healing when I switch in, which is the main reason I use this over Azumarill. I find Encore to be one of the best moves in the game, better than any other setup-stopping move atleast. Max attack OHKOs Sceptile and draws in Venasaur, who is trouble for this team's Fighting core. I can Encore whatever Venasaur uses and switch to Entei/Blaziken to deal with it.
Gallade (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Psycho Cut
- Trick
- Stone Edge
Definitly unexpected. Screws over Spiritomb trying to switch in, among others. This is the main go-to guy for using scarfed CC to clean up after Poliwrath and Blaziken have done their job. Psycho Cut deals with Venasaur, Stone Edge is mainly for Moltres, but tbh I haven't used it much, so I'm considering Night Slash to deal with Uxie, Mesprit, Alakazam, Espeon etc. Which is actually a pretty good idea I think since Gallade is my trick blocker. Not sure though.
Blaziken (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Fire Blast
- Low Kick
- Vacuum Wave
- Hidden Power [Electric]
The second part of my Fire pair, and the third part of my Fighting trio! Blaziken has been a pretty good wall breaker for both parts of my combo. Comes in and starts shooting off Fire Blasts, if Entei isn't down I'll usually sacrifice Blaziken to bring down their bulky water. HP Electric > Grass because Low Kick deals with Omastar and Rhyperior. The lack of synergy is a bit dissapointing, but I like having a dedicated wallbreaker that isn't broken as hell (Honchkrow)
Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/100 Atk/8 Spd/148 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Iron Head
Getting into some bog stuff here, but you'll notice I'm not using Stealth Rock on this! It allows me to beat both Mismagius AND Raikou which pretty much nothing else can do. I like it enough. Explosion and Toxic are great to, again, beat bulky waters. Beating them is important to this team if you didn't notice! Not too much to say about this, everyone knows what Registeel does.
Uxie @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Stealth Rock
Yeah, had to sell out and use something lame for the final spot. Sets up Stealth Rock, scouts what the opponent's counter is, sets up the proper screen, and then U-turns out. The DS strategy is great for this team since I'm using some rather fragile stuff, and nobody has recovery abilities. Uxie and Registeel make a pretty neat wall combo I guess, handling each other's weaknesses except Fire..but I'm pretty sure I can deal with that attack type!
And there you have it. Just a fun team to use. Trying not to use too much standard sets/mons here, so if you can keep that in mind while suggeasting, thanks. I'm just really tired of how standardized this tier has become recently. :/ And I hope this was enough, this is something I want help on, not to make it flashy and super long like alot of RMTs. anyway, To end on a happy note...pretty happy Honchkrow is going to be banned soon!
