A Request for some UU Love.

I simply love how UU looks in the few brief glimpses that I have caught of it throughout the discussions here, but I feel that UU has been majorly neglected unfortunately. With the exception of Phuquoph's UU team I've yet to see another UU RMT. Perhaps UU falls into place once people start getting tired of the standards, but I think that there should be at least some discussion of the possibilities in UU for Pokemon and to try to form at least an educated guess of how it'll look.

I'm making a UU team right now and it would be great for other people to post discussions of UU aspects, there's been so little love for UU it's sad.

I think many people are waiting to find out what will actually be considered UU after the DP metagame settles down a bit. It won't be cool if you make a team and suddenly one of the Pokémon rises to prominence in Standard play and you're therefore not allowed to use it.

That being said, here's my personal opinion. I like using underused Pokémon. A lot. But I don't consider UU to be a legitimate battling environment. It's just a bunch of Pokémon that don't see use in Standard play. Some are in UU because they have low stats or aren't viable in single battles for another reason. Some have great stats, but people consider them to be outclassed by something in standard play. The only thing that unifies UU Pokémon is that nobody uses them in Standard, so UU is not a well-thought-out, cohesive tier.

Generally, if I want to use UU Pokémon, I make a Double Battle team. It's incredible how many Pokémon are useful in that environment!

No, not yet. I think it'll take a while for the tiers to settle into place. I'm not really sure how long it'll be, since I wasn't part of the online Pokémon community during the Advance generation. Also, it may take more time with D/P than with Advance, considering the huge number of new moves, abiliies and strategies. But, it may take less time because a lot of the members of the community have so much more experience now.

It's hard to say.
