A Synergetic UU Team

Hello!

Recently I have started to get in to the UU tier on Pokemon Showdown. I find that it has a bigger variety of Pokemon, and you don't see the same Pokemon on every team like the ever so monotonous OU tier. I've made a few teams for UU, but this is definitely my favourite. I only started Teambuilding and playing more seriously a short time ago, so my W - L Ratio and GXE isn't very high, however I do know that I peaked in the mid 1350's. Anyway, on to the team~

My team is broken into 3 parts, so that is how I'll display it.

[ ~ The Orbers ~ ]

These Pokemon have great coverage, and both do a respective amount of damage with their Life Orbs.

mienshao.gif

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- High Jump Kick / Drain Punch
- Fake Out

Mienshao is a personal favourite of mine. Its access to moves like Knock Off and U-Turn, its coverage and the viability of it are just amazing. I decide to go with this set because I really liked the idea of it. Knock Off is a great move just by itself, and can check some dangerous things like Victini and Metagross. I'm debating as to whether I should go with Drain Punch or High Jump Kick. Personally I like High Jump Kick, as it has much more power and if I miss, I can regain most of the lost health through Regenerator.

nidoking.gif

Nidoking (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Ice Beam / Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt

Nidoking's coverage, good STABs and power with the Life Orb + Sheer Force combo is what got it a place on my team. This thing is just amazing. A lot of the time things stay in on it, and straight after I OHKO. It's a great check to some dangerous things in UU, such as Florges, Metagross etc. However, it's lack of defences mean that it gets knocked out quite easily. Max speed investment is necessary, as Nidoking has a mediocre 85 base speed.

[ ~ The Choicers ~ ]

These Pokemon do the real damage on the team. Their choice items allow them to hit hard, and hit fast.
noivern.gif

Noivern @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Air Slash
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
I always like to try and fit a spot for Noivern on my team. It has INSANE coverage, and hits extremely hard with Choice Specs. Boomburst is there in case I don't want to risk missing, but I still need some power. Air Slash and Draco Meteor are Noivern's two STAB moves, and Flamethrower counters Ice-types while providing coverage as well. This thing outspeeds (I think) anything that isn't Scarfed. The only real problem Noivern has is Sturdy Donphan with Ice Shard, and Florges.

victini.gif

Victini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Zen Headbutt
- U-turn
Victini is my usual lead. It's an excellent wallbreaker, with access to moves like V-Create, which do an insane amount of damage. In fact, V-Create does the exact same amount of damage as a super-effective Bolt Strike would do. With max speed investment and a Choice Scarf, it can still outspeed many Pokemon after the speed drop from V-Create. Scarf U-Turn is also a very nice combo. Zen Headbutt is there for STAB, but I don't use it very often.

[ ~ The Defensive Core ~ ]

This is by far my favourite part of the team. The synergy of this core is unmatched - they work unbelievably well together.

florges.gif

Florges (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Symbiosis
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aromatherapy
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Protect

Florges is currently the most used Pokemon in UU, and for a reason. It's great specially defensive bulk and access to moves like Wish and Aromatherapy make it an amazing support Pokemon. I've decided to run a physically defensive Florges, as people simply don't expect it. I distinctly remember one opponent saying he was very shocked after I told him I was not running specially defensive Florges. Florges' special bulk is great naturally without investment, and Moonblast also has a 30% chance to lower Special Attack, improving my Special Defence even more.

aggron-mega.gif

Aggron @ Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Head Smash
- Stealth Rock

It's the same kettle of fish with Mega-Aggron. It's natural defence is higher then most fully invested physical walls. It's synergy with Florges is amazing - Florges counters many of Mega-Aggron's weaknesses, and Mega-Aggron counters many of Florges' weaknesses. It has the ability to set up Stealth Rock, can counter Fire-types with Head Smash and Earthquake, and does a decent amount of damage with Heavy Slam. Most Physical STAB fighting-type moves are a 3HKO, and a super-effective Life Orb + Sheer Force Earth Power from a Nidoking doesn't even OHKO - that is some serious bulk.

[ ~ Conclusion ~]

Overall, I've really liked how this team's worked out. I love the synergy and certainly love battling with it. Please add your suggestions and comments, I'd love to hear what you think! Thank you for reading,

Hello there. I've been absent from UU for a while (trying to stick to OU), but I do have some things you might want to consider. First, you lack a Defogger / Spinner. That means SR or Spikes would wear down Victini and Mienshao when the U-turn in and out of play. Second, as good a core as Mega Aggron + Florges is (I used it a lot too), both are 2HKOed by the Nidos who have been on the rise as of late. A pretty good fix to those problems is SpDef Mew. She switches in fearlessly on any attack King or Queen throws and she has Defog to clear hazards for Victini and Shao. Third, Boomburst is kinda redundant since your Noivern has Infiltrator. I suggest you replace it with Switcheroo to cripple switch ins like Florges.
Noivern @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Def ~ gives you an odd number in HP for Stealth Rock purposes.
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Switcheroo ~ Cripples switch ins
- Air Slash
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower

Victini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef ~ Again, for Stealth Rock purposes
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Zen Headbutt
- U-turn

Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def
Calm Nature
- Defog
- Softboiled / Roost
- Psychic / Psyshock
- Will-o-wisp
Not to sure about move compatibility issues, but this is the set in general. Play around with it and tweak it to suit your preference.
Hope I helped! Good luck with your team!

Thank you for your suggestions! I did originally have Switcheroo on Noivern, but I found I didn't really use it. Maybe Focus Blast for coverage?

Focus Blast covers both Porygon2 and Umbreon, 2 decent switch ins so I guess that's nice lol. Just note that uninvested Ice Beam from Porygon2 OHKOs while Focus Blast does about ~50% max. That means you won't be staying in on any Porygon2. Focus Blast also does ~58% max to Umbreon while Foul Play 4HKOs. I think that's kinda bad since Noivern doesn't have any reliable recovery outside of Wish passing. I suggest you run 0 Atk IVs just to be safe from Foul Play.
vs 252 HP / 252+ SpD Porygon2 (I think there's a mixed wall variant as well but here's the worst case)
0 SpA Porygon2 Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Noivern: 324-384 (104.1 - 123.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Choice Specs Noivern Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Porygon2: 160-190 (42.7 - 50.8%) -- 3.9% chance to 2HKO

vs 252 HP / 252+ SpD Umbreon
252 SpA Choice Specs Noivern Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Umbreon: 192-228 (48.7 - 57.8%) -- 57.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Umbreon Foul Play vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Noivern: 84-99 (27 - 31.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
Glad to have helped. Good luck with your team!!

This is a major pet peeve of mine. Having a defensive mon with no recovery outside of wish passes with a RECOIL move. Please, replace head smash with roar or something.

Will add more later.

I personally prefer the scarfed Mienshao as it is able to outspeed almost anything and therefore able to revenge kill very easily. Even if you decide to stick with the LO Mienshao i prefer Stone Edge over Fake Out for coverage

As Ununhexium stated, replace Head Smash with either Thunder Wave / Roar / Fire Punch / Stone Edge / Ice Punch which you prefer. Maybe Dragon Tail to hit Dragon types but watch out for Fairy types.

I hate Florges Aggron combo. Florges is such a stupid Pokémon Wish Protect Toxic stalling you while keeping Aggron alive with Wish passing. I know they work well together but i think it takes all the fun out of the match. So SpDef Mew might be a good alternative and also giving you the opportunity to Defog all hazards.

Make sure noivern can always OHKO the nidos, or your defensive core is absolutely fucked. If you see this happenning too often, replace florges with umbreon, who can pass larger wishes, has better physical defense though worse special defense, and can do the same task.

Also, you need some sdef evs on florges, or she will more easily fall to special attackers despite her high sdef. J believe the recommended spread is 252 HP 32+ def and 224 sdef but I might be wrong.
