Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
I have always wanted an UU team. They have always fascinated me whenever they took out a Uber team or OU. Please take your time to give honest opinions to make this team great. Thanks. Now for the team...
Of course you can't have Illumise without its partner in crime Volbeat! This Volbeat is pretty standard. Ice Punch is there for Dragons and Grass. U-Turn to switch out.
Possible problems identified in red, solutions or suggestions in green.
Illumise @ Leftovers Tinted Lens - Always state the ability you will be running, Tinted Lens recommended.
Modest - Stated below - Timid for speedy EV setset, Calm for defensive EV set.
6hp/252spatk/252speed - Try running 252 HP / 6 SpA / 252 Spe if you are looking for a speedy support member, if you want it to be more defensively orientated, look at boosting SpD rather than Spe, something like 252 HP / 6 SpA / 252 SpD. Only boost it's subpar Def if you are going completely defensive. Bear in mind that the defensive set with a Calm nature reaches 334 HP and 273 SpD, which is very respectable. Bug Buzz Wish T-Wave U-Turn
Lead support. Wave em then sweep if i can. Wish then U-Turn out to pass it. I have tested it on shoddy and it seems to work considerably well.
Volbeat @ Choice Band - (Choice Scarf?) - Your team seems a little slow, so maybe Choice Scarf with an adamant nature would be desirable.
Swarm - Obvious choice, Illuminate does nothing in battles.
Adamant (Jolly?) - If you are running Choice Band, maybe you should go with Jolly as you want to outrun as much as you can.
6hp/252atk/252speed
Ice Punch / Zen Headbutt - Will serve you better coverage against the many poison or part-poison type pokemon in UU, as the only dragon you'll face is Altaria, who you wouldn't really want to stay in against, as they often pack Flamethrower.
Return / Thunderpunch - Option to hurt the many water types of UU hard, as well as giving you coverage against flyers who might come in to take you out.
U-Turn Brick Break
Consider running Trick if you want the option to cripple walls. If you choose to stay with Choice Band, run Quick Attack instead of Return to outspeed and finish off faster foes.
Of course you can't have Illumise without its partner in crime Volbeat! This Volbeat is pretty standard. Ice Punch is there for Dragons and Grass. U-Turn to switch out.
Standard set off the analysis, solid choice, not much else to say.
Don't you just love little electric Math rodents? I know i do. Nasty Plot up then sweep. Pretty Standard.
Sandslash @ Brightpowder - Not sure why you'd run Brightpowder, as sandstorm won't be in play in UU so you won't be activating Sand Veil, go with Leftovers. Adamant 252hp/252atk/6def Rapid Spin Earthquake Night Slash Swords Dance
Pretty standard. Blow off spikes and rocks then SD for the sweep.
Your team so far seems very frail and offensively orientated, so I recommend you go with a defensive Sandslash, especially because his base 110 defence will complement the lackluster defences of the 3 former team members.
Sandslash @ Leftovers Sand Veil - Impish 252 HP / 6 Att / 252 Def - Rapid Spin - Knock Off - Stealth Rock / Toxic - Getting the entry hazards up is recommended over Toxic. - Earthquake
This will support your team greatly, as well as it's new Platinum tool, Knock Off, partially crippling your opponent's team.
Macargo @ Leftovers Bold 252hp/252def/4spdef Flamethrower Recover Earth Power Will O Wisp
Because who wouldn't want a big Flame Slug on there side? I know i would want one. Support Wall. Burn then sweep.
I don't think that this guy is complementing your team very well, water hits two of your walls hard, even with Mantine it's a promlem, as well as your team starting to look weak to status. Two pokemon come to mind when i'm thinking of a replacement, Meganium and Weezing. (Sorry if you wanted to keep Magcargo, I just can't see it fitting in).
Weezing offers the burn support you wanted, as well as the ability to Haze any stat-uppers. He also offers good special attacking options as you seem to like being offensively orientated.
Meganium offers so much for your team, and is my recommendation for a replacement. It's typing offers you extra protection against water and grass which you were previously lacking, as well as it having awesome 100/100 defences complimenting it's above average 80 HP. It has access to Aromatherapy, so you need not worry about status crippling your team. It can set up both of the screens for your team, which I feel would help immensely as you seem a little frail otherwise, whether you run both of one is your choice, Reflect complements the team more than Light Screen as far as I can see. Instant recovery in Synthesis and Energy Ball for a stab attack can also go on this set.
Mantine @ Leftovers Calm
252hp/252spdef/6speed - Mantine lives to be a wall, so boost it's Defence as well as SpD, something like 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 SpD or simply putting those 6 spare EVs in Def not Spe.
Surf
Ice Beam / Mirror Coat - I'd rather use this than Ice Beam because you'd be surprised how easily Mantine will absorb weak Thunderbolts and other special attacks, simply knocking it back in the attacker's face for a free KO.
Toxic
Confuse Ray - Protect might be more useful as it's reliable and allows a free turn of lefties recovery and poison damage.
Special Wall. Will aid in blocking Water moves with its ability. Toxic and Confuse Ray = Good Stalling.
It's a solid team, with a few floors but none too serious, I feel that you could have used more powerful attackers, but that's merely opinion, having your main offence (Volbeat and Plusle) in pretty much NU pokemon might be problematic. Apart from that, it's a good first try at UU.
