A Toxic Abuser in UU?

Hello Everyone!
I always have tought of building a team based on toxic spikes in UU and, at last, i completed it. So here it is:

BUILDING PROCESS

First at all i needed a toxic spiker. So, with only a weakness to Ground type attacks, i decided to use Drapion.

Then i should put some more defense in my team. Drapion has weakness to ground-attacks, so why not put a levitate pokèmon?
It Immediately came to mind Weezing, with his huge defense and the ability to phaze the setting-up guys, like DDFeraligatr.

Now, i really need a Special Wall. I have always liked water-type pokèmon, so i putted Milotic.

Okay, the defensive core is up. So now i need some support. Maybe a cleric that can pass the always welcome wish and stall a little? Of course, it is Clefable.

I was thinking about doing a little more damage on the switch-ins. I think a Stealth rock user will be very useful. And if it could blow away the opponent's entry hazard, it is much more useful.
It also covers Milotic orrible weakness to Electric-Moves. It is Donphan!

My team looks well... now i realized that i need a ghost pokèmon to prevent rapid-spinners to cause me problems. It also covers some of my teammates' weaknesses. Welcome to Spiritomb!

MEMBER ANALYSIS

dpmfa452.png

Drapion @Black Sludge
NAT:+DEF/-SPA
+252HP/+252DEF/+6SPE
-Toxic Spikes
-Taunt
-Crunch
-Protect/Knock Off

My lead, with a nice 95 speed he can set up the Toxic Spikes or Taunt the other leads. Protect is listed here to protect drapion from fake-out leads like Ambipom. I was thinking of using Knock Off over Protect to make opponent's wall less durable. A grounded-poison can also absorb Toxic Spikes

dpmfa110.png

Weezing @Black Sludge
NAT:+DEF/-ATK
+252HP/+252DEF/+6SPA
-Pain Split
-Haze
-Flametrhower
-Shadow Ball/Dark Pulse

Weezing is a really nice guy. He can sponge hard hits, while fading all the boost of the opponent's pokèmon. Unfortunately the only recovery move outside of Rest he has is Pain Split, and is not SO reliable.
Thunderbolt is here just for coverage and Shadow Ball and Dark Pulse could be a nice surprise for the Psichic which comes so easy on it. I don't really think he could score KO's, but it helps.

dpmfa350.png

Milotic @Leftovers
NAT:+SPD/-ATK
+252HP/+200DEF/+58SPD
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Surf
-HP Grass/Electric

Milotic is really an interesting pokèmon, with his Marvel Scale ability. So i think a status-absorber will really be useful. While asleep, it's really difficult to destroy it. Surf is a good STAB move without accuracy drops, and HP is used to hit those bulky water that loves to come in Milotic to set-up.

dpmfa036.png

Clefable @Toxic Orb
NAT:+SPD/-SPA
+252HP/+212SPD/+44ATK
-Wish
-Protect
-Heal Bell
-Facade

I just love this pink guy. It's quite unpredictable, and his Magic Guard abilty is one of the best in the game, i think. This is a mix between a Wish-Staller and a Facade user. I'm not so sure about this, so please tell me what do you think. Wish is obliviuosly useful on this team, because other teammates doesn't have reliable recovery moves.

dpmfa232.png

Donphan @Leftovers
+ATK/-SPA
+252ATK/+204DEF/+52HP
-Stealth Rock
-Rapid Spin
-Earthquake
-Assurance

It's a nice spinner, and a very reliable SR user. It has Assurance, and this helps him to hurt Levitate-Ghosts like Mismagius and Rotom that likes to come on it. Earthquake with his 120 base attack does some damage.

Spiritomb @Choice Band
NAT:+ATK/-SPA
+252HP/+252ATK/+6DES
-Trick
-Curse
-Pursuit
-Sucker Punch

I'm not sure at all on wich moveset use on Spiritomb.
This is a mix between a Pursuit-trapper and a Curse Spiritomb.
Curse is to destroy last pokèmon or to force a switch, while Trick could be a nice surprise with choice band. Pursuit could work well with Curse and psichic pokèmon (that are called by Weezing), while Sucker Punch is a very useful move in today's extremely offensive metagame. It's a good Spin bolcker.

WEAKNESS

Note that:

DRAPION:-Weak to Ground => Weezing has Immunity

WEEZING:-Weak to Psichic => Drapion has Immunity
=> Spiritomb has Immunity

MILOTIC:-Weak to Grass =>x0,5 vs Weezing
=>x0,5 vs Drapion
-Weak to Electric =>Donphan has Immunity

CLEFABLE:-Weak to Fighting =>Spiritomb has Immunity

DONPHAN:-Weak to Grass =>x0,5 vs Weezing
=>x0,5 vs Drapion
-Weak to Ice =>x0,5 vs Milotic
-Weak to Water =>x0,5 vs Milotic

SPIRITOMB: -no weakness-

Thank you for your attention.
I'll add a Threat list soon.

Venusaur looks like a major problem pokemon for your team...
It's pretty prominent, so the majority of your matches won't be ones where you can easily get t-spikes up, since he absorbs them upon coming out. Choice Specs Venusaur looks especially troublesome, since you have no counter for Venusaur anyway, and Leaf Storm just laughs at Milotic and Donphan.

Just pointing that out, but hopefully somebody else knows how to fix this.

Yea, with a metagame littered with grounded poison types, maybe you should think again about a team based around toxic spikes.

How has this team worked out for you? how often have you stalled most of their team with toxic? if most of your wins came from countering the other team with your own pokemon and not stalling with tspikes, you might want to think about reforming your team.

I'd say try out a more general Spikes team, and throw Toxic Spikes to the curb. I mean, Venusaur, Toxicroak, Nidoking, Drapion, and Qwilfish can all absorb TSpikes, and had a combined total usage of 46% in May, and will absorb your primary win condition; Venu is a large problem in general to this team, as your primary walls do not seem to wall him.
*shrug*

Yeah, i thnk i'll go for spikes. I'll modify my team. Thanks all guys! This thread should be closed.

Hi,

If you want to keep Toxic Spikes, I'd recommend using a Pokemon that can work its way around Venusaur, while also keeping with the theme of Toxic Stalling. So, I'd suggest replacing Clefable with a SubRoost Moltres, who easily sets up a Sub on Venusaurs who like to come in and absorb your Spikes, and proceeds to possibly destroy entire teams with Toxic. With its ability Pressure, it can even stall out Rhyperior:

Moltres@Leftovers
248 HP, 84 Def, 176 Spe
Timid
- Flamethrower
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Roost

176 Speed EVs and a Timid nature allow you to outspeed all positive base 80's. Curse on a CB Tomb is IMO a bad idea. I'd recommend running an alternative set of Trick/Pursuit/Sucker Punch/Shadow Sneak. On Weezing, why not try out a Rest/ Sleep Talk set to function more effectively? Its still a pain to beat with Will-O-Wisp keeping physical attackers at bay and STAB Sludge Bomb dealing good damage.

Other than that, this is a nice team. Gl.
