A UU RMT by MONSTER

I like to compile teams that consist of my favorite Pokemon, but many of them are UU. So I decided to compile a team of some of my favorite Pokemon, with others that fit well on the team. So far it's done fairly well, winning about half my battles (usually because they give up). I want to make it a very good team so that someday, hopefully, I can make the Pokemon in the actual game. Here it is:

Altaria (Son Goku)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
EVs: HP 64; Atk 184; Spe 152; Sp. Def. 110
E-Quake
Dragon Claw
Dragon Dance
Roost

Description: So far having Altaria as a lead has been kinda awkward, but he has served me well. He seemed to be the only one on my team qualified for it. I made him a little bulky so he can be good for sweeping and surviving attacks. Even after one Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw does considerable damage to a lot of Pokemon, even bulky ones like Hypno. Roost+natural cure works really well, and I use him to absorb status ailments. I haven't quite swept a team with him yet, but he's able to weaken Pokemon enough to have them finished off by the others.

Hariyama (Honda)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: HP 76; Atk 252; Def 180
Focus Punch
Substitute
Ice Punch
Payback

Description: This guy can be a real problem if my opponent doesn't respond in time. One Focus Punch will take its toll on any Pokemon, especially one from Hariyama's impressive attack. I've even pretty much swept teams with him before. Ice Punch and Payback are for coverage, and they deal with a lot of types of Pokemon. On another team, I used this same Hariyama with Bullet Punch instead of one of his attacks for priority, but I've found that doesn't work very well. I suppose Fake out is a viable option, but it doesn't pique my interest too much. Anyway, I gave him Thick Fat to absorb Ice Punches directed at Altaria, but Guts might be better, since Blastoise (who's also on my team) does that job well.

Blastoise (Adamantaim)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Calm
EVs: HP 100; Def. 200; Sp. Atk 110; Sp.D 100
Counter
Rapid Spin
Ice Beam
Hydro Pump

Description: My special/physical spong on my team, who can absorb attacks fairly well. I've considered focusing his spread on one of his defenses, but I could use both, but considering I already have two physical sponges (Miltank and Weezing), Special Def. is probably more preferable. So far this Blastoise has been able to at least finish off other Pokemon. I used to run Aqua Jet/E-Quake/Rapid Spin/Yawn, but considering I already have plenty of physical attackers and Counter and Aqua Jet are not legal together, I switched to special attack and gave it Hydro Pump, Ice Beam and Recover. Rapid Spin has been quite useful, and the potential damage from Poison Spikes is made irrevelant by Miltank, who can just Heal Bell it off (see below). I've considered getting rid of Blastoise for Gastrodon recently, as it can recover, but I like Blastoise better, basically. Counter is just there for suprising, but usually Blastoise takes so much damage from Psychic attacks (which this team is quite weak to), that he can't use it well.

Nidoking (Demiurge)
Item: Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Poison Point
EQ
Ice Punch
Thunder Punch
Megahorn

Description: My main sweeper of the team (if Nidoking can ever really be described as a sweeper), Nidoking hits the hardest and fastest of any of my Pokemon. I like the coverage of Megahorn, as Slowbro thinks he's safe from it and then loses 80~90% of his health. Nidoking is my second favorite (next to Dragonite), so I don't plan on changing him, but I have considered Drapion (who I really like too), for his resistence to Psychic, which this team really suffers from. If I replaced Nido with Drapion, I'd add Gastrodon instead of Blastoise for resistence to Ground, but that would hinder me because of the lack of Rapid Spin. I used to run Avalanche instead of Ice Punch, but since I normall plan on having Nido go first, I ditched Avalanche for the more powerful Ice Punch. So far, Nidoking has done a decent job at least taking down one of the opponents Pokemon.

Weezing (Berserker)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold
EVs: HP 143; Def 152; Sp. Atk 100; Sp.D 115
Will o' Wisp
T-Bolt
Flamethrower
Explosion

Description: My main physical sponge, Weezing has been a good switch-in on numerous occasions. As I have said, he isn't good in the fact that he is so week to Psychic, which is the main weakness of my team, and this is a problem because Psychic I've found is a lot more of a common attack in UU. Nevertheless, Weezing has helped me a lot. I used to run one with HP Ice instead of WoW on another team, which was a surprise, but like I have said, I want to make this team on the game, and having HP I would like to avoid, since it's so hard to get.

Miltank (Elsie)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Impish
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: HP 6; Def. 252; Spe 252
Seismic Toss
Heal Bell
Milk Drink
T-Wave

Description: Yes, I know this moveset is a bit outdated, used mostly in the ADV days, but I have found it very useful. I have been constantly walled by Spiritomb while using this team, so I switched to Scrappy to hit them, but I haven't gotten a chance to see how well it works; however I'm pretty confident because Spiritomb does not have very good HP+no good recovery moves. Miltank has been very good in my team, albeit lacking offensive capabilities. Heal Bell has been very useful, as this is a primarily defensive team. Seismic Toss is not to be underestimated, and I have killed pokemon with it. I originally had Thick Fat on Miltank to be a good combination with Altaria, but like I said, Spiritomb just walls me. I have also considered switching out Miltank with Ursaring with Quick Feet and Swords Dance, because I lack a really solid sweeper.

So that's my team. I know it's very defensive, and has very little to actually hurt the opponent save Altaria, Nidoking and Hariyama, but it has been relatively successful nonetheless. I would appreciate your feedback.

not a major change as i not that sure on UU but have rivalary on nidoking for the attack boost it can give as it will help in how much he can damage and due to them being automaticly set yo male unless it cant be you will more oftehn then not get it

Yeah back when I first looked at Nido's ability when DP was first coming out, I was like, 'yeah, that's pretty awesome', but the description didn't include the fact that his attack decreases when faced by a female; this is a problem because of Chanseys and Nidoqueens, etc.

I'll take this to mind, though thanks.

The EVs on Altaria seems quite random, use the standard sweeper spread: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe so you'll be faster than every pokemon in UU barring Crobat and Electrode (and random choice scarfer, obviously) after a DD. Also, I really suggest you not to keep it as your lead: it can force out Arcanine and maybe Roserade, but that's it... Slow support leads will still set up SR easly and Crobat will simply taunt every attempt to DD, while Ambipom will simply fake out and u-turn out. It better fills the role of bulky physical sweeper.

Hariyama (Honda)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: HP 76; Atk 252; Def 180
Focus Punch
Substitute
Ice Punch
Payback

Fine, this is one of my favourite pokemons, and you're using my favourite Haryiama set. Just be sure to move 4 EVs to speed, to be sure to outspeed the Regi trio (notably Regirock and Registeel) and Chansey, so you'll set up a substitute before they can attempt to status you or explode (in the case of the Regi). You can't imagine how many times those EVs saved my Hariyama from an incoming explosion.

Blastoise (Adamantaim)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Calm
EVs: HP 100; Def. 200; Sp. Atk 110; Sp.D 100
Counter
Rapid Spin
Ice Beam
Hydro Pump

Description: My special/physical spong on my team, who can absorb attacks fairly well. Again, pretty random EVs: if you want it to be a special wall (though heavy special attackers like Shaymin, Manectric, Sceptile, Ludicolo will still take it down having stab super effective attacks) give it max hp and sp.def so it will take special attacks better. Consider giving it surf over hydro pump, it's not going to hurt much with its special attack anyway, ans surf has more PP and accuracy.
Consider giving it toxic over counter, you are going to have problems with bulky waters like Milotic and Azumarill, so toxic may result decisive for taking them out.

Nidoking (Demiurge)
Item: Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Poison Point
EQ
Ice Punch
Thunder Punch
Megahorn

Description: My main sweeper of the team (if Nidoking can ever really be described as a sweeper), Nidoking hits the hardest and fastest of any of my Pokemon. Fine, though I really suggest giving it sucker punch over thunder punch, water types will be hit with the same 150 base power by your stab EQ, and you already have ice punch to hit flyers, so sucker punch may be really helpful to hit faster foes.

I used to run one with HP Ice instead of WoW on another team, which was a surprise, but like I have said, I want to make this team on the game, and having HP I would like to avoid, since it's so hard to get.

Although I realize you're trying to use your favourite pokemons, Crobat is a lot better than Weezing, it still counters fighters thanks to its 4x resistance to fighting attacks, but also checks Shaymin and Roserade (and other grassers), which can really massacre your team, use the standard set:

Crobat@leftovers
nature: jolly
EVs: 104 HP / 152 Atk / 252 Spe
-brave bird
-u-turn
-taunt
-roost

the set is self-explanatory: BB for a reliable stab, u-tun for scouting, taunt to stop your foe to use stat-up moves or set up entry hazards, roost to heal. This pokemon is almost a must have in the actual UU metagame.

Miltank (Elsie)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Impish
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: HP 6; Def. 252; Spe 252
Seismic Toss
Heal Bell
Milk Drink
T-Wave

Description: Yes, I know this moveset is a bit outdated, used mostly in the ADV days, but I have found it very useful. I have also considered switching out Miltank with Ursaring with Quick Feet and Swords Dance, because I lack a really solid sweeper.

Again, change the EVs to 252 hp \ 252 def \ 4spe, it's a wall, so the speed is pretty useless. I would probably change it, but I don't want to twist your team completely, so keep it. Just replace thunder wave with stealth rock, with Crobat and max speed Altaria your team will be quite fast, while lacking SR is a serious problem on every team.

So that's my team. I know it's very defensive, and has very little to actually hurt the opponent save Altaria, Nidoking and Hariyama, but it has been relatively successful nonetheless. I would appreciate your feedback.

Suggestions in red, it took a while to write this, so I really hope it helps.

Good luck with your team!

I agree on what Haunter said about pretty much your whole team, but I'm throwing in my two cents:

-Keep Thick Fat > Guts on your Hariyama for two reasons; 1 is that you can set up your Sub on Ice and Fire type Pokemon easier, 2 because the Sub protects you from status anyway.

-Another vote to put Sucker Punch > Thunderpunch on Nidoking, along with Haunter's opinion.

-If you really want Ursaring on your team he could fit over Miltank; he's a real bitch to slow teams, especially with Swords Dance Facade. I like Miltank, really, but it's an ADV set for a reason; it was useful back in ADV only. If you do go with Ursaring, you could change Altaria into a more defensive pokemon;

Altaria @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 252 HP / 108 Atk / 64 Def / 64 SpD / 20 Spe

-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage

All of these moves have good synergy; Rest heals Altaria of any Life Orb and normal damage, while Dragon Dance and Outrage are for sweeping purposes. If you select Outrage while sleeping, it won't lock you into it either. Natural Cure always heals the sleep status should you want to switch in mid-Rest, so you can always come back in ready to battle again. I got the EV's off of his strategy pokedex (http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/altaria), so look there if you want a better understanding of them.

I hope I helped =)

Yeah, just to clarify, these aren't all my favorites. Blastoise, Nido and Altaria are basically the only I really don't want to get rid of. The rest are definitely subject to change. I can't have all my favorites, because one of them is Spinda =\

I can see where you're coming from with Crobat, Haunter, he's basically the Scizor of the UU metagame.

Yeah, for sure all of what I was going to suggest, Haunter already covered...
With so many stall teams running around, thunderwave is only half useful. Stealth rock really needs to be on every team, and you lack it, so miltank should pack it.
Crobat isn't so much a must as a constant looming threat. You can play around him and without him, but hes a total beast that should be one of the first things you make sure you have a counter for, or at least something he has no hope of killing. Sad part is, he can be harder to take out than you would ever think.
Altaria isnt a lead, its a sweeper. Uing him so early is just asking for trouble. I suggest you add the crobat already suggested as your lead or find one that fits for you(However few things are going to set up anything with crobat, let alone ko him). For instance I lead a roserade, but he loses easy to crobat so I then just switch in Steelix to absorb brave bird which is basically lol damage and uturn does less than lefties heals, this is my first turn more often than roserade actually staying in to spike(crobat is THAT common in UU). I have a similar problem in that roserade just isn't that effective of a lead anymore, but I have nothing better to run.-

-Not that any team is amazing at it, but the only way you can beat a blaziken that can stay healthy long enough for hariyama to get some damage on it is to ask it nicely to stop and hope it feels merciful(not likely)... Actually, I see several threats that can give you some real trouble (all of which are problems all teams seem to have because the pokes are just very good)
-BTW, the most common spiritomb is a rest talking set that carries calm mind, dark pulse, rest, and sleep talk. Miltank doesn't beat spiritomb as it reaches just over 300 health, meaning it can wake up and rest again before you can ko it with miltank.
-Crobat counters this nicely with taunt which is just another reason to run him as well as solving a weakness to shaymin as your team is already weaker on the speacial side and he is one of the most common special sweepers in UU.
Weezing seems to be dead weight on this team, taking him out for an umbreon not only takes out one psychic weak poke, but he is probably the best answer for mismagius. Note: you then may have a problem with fighting attacks as you cant really wall them w/o a ghost as they usually carry a move that can hurt crobat. However I feel that crobat and umbreon work to help the teams weakness to some very commonly used pokes by removing altaria and weezing.
Umbreon helps this team even further by:
a) having that built in immunity to psychic
b) wish passing to your bulkier pokes
The suggestions end up making the team look something like this
crobat
blastoise
miltank
umbreon
nidoking
Haryiama
