I like to be as creative as possible with my team building, and after a little bit of thinking I came up with this one. I feel okay about it, but just out of curiosity I'd like to get some feedback for it.
TEAM BUILDING PROCESS (Will Update if changes made)
The first thing that I wanted to incorporate into a UU team is Noctowl. He's been on most UU teams I've made and he's a pretty good special wall.
Suicune seemed like a nice touch to cover Noctowl's Ice weakness and he's also a damn good Pokemon in general.
And finally, to tie the defensive core together, I added Claydol, who can moderately cover both defenses, take care of Noctowls and Suicunes weakness to Electric, provide Stealth Rocks, and so on.
The first Pokemon I wanted to put in for the Offensive side of the team is Mienshao because it's awesome.
Chandelure seemed like a nice Pokemon to fit into the next offensive slot.
A unique STAB combination that covers the psychic types that Mienshao fears.
Finally, Honchcrow. Overall, I think these three get good coverage on most types, and that's what's important.
THE TEAM IN DETAIL
Noctowl
Calm
Leftovers
Insomnia
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Dp. Def, 4 Spd.
Air Slash, Roost, Toxic, Magic Coat.
Noctowl really has an element of surprise in the UU environment, an environment which, in fact, he can function very well in. Noctowl can take special hits very, very well, with a healthy 100 HP and 96 Sp. Defense. He's also a good check for offensive grass types in the tier such as Shaymin and the ever so popular Roserade. Roserade can do very little to Noctowl, as he is immune to sleep, can bounce back poison thanks to Magic Coat, is immune to spikes, and even Roserade's mighty Leaf Storm can barely 3-KO it. Thanks to Noctowl, Suicune, another defensive Pokemon in this team, does not have to worry about his main counter. A beautiful partnership indeed.
Suicune
Bold
Leftovers
Pressure
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp. Def.
Scald, Rest, Sleep Talk, Calm Mind.
Suicune never ceases to amaze me. It's just a really solid Pokemon. I don't really have much to say about it, This is just the CroCune set that you've all
seen. After a couple Calm Minds, Suicune is both a defensive and specially defensive powerhouse. RestTalk can keep the thing going for the entire match, and it also eliminates statuses. No need to worry about grass types either thanks to Noctowl, and as far as Electrics go, that's what Claydol is for. Really, the idea behind the defensive core in this set is to get Suicune going, because once Suicune is set up, he becomes a real force.
Claydol
Sassy
Leftovers
Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp. Def.
Rapid Spin, Stealth Rock, Earthquake, Ice Beam.
Claydol... Is so extremely important. Seriously. Without him, this team would have so many exploitable weaknesses... Specifically, Stealth rock. Half of my team is weak to stealth rock, so the need for a Rapid Spinner is very strong. I love bird Pokemon, that's why 2 of them are on this team, and Claydol proves to be a perfect check for their weaknesses. An Electric immunity allows Claydol to switch in and do whatever it wants, including spinning rocks away and even setting up his own. The only weakness that Noctowl and Claydol share is that of the Ice type, and Suicune is an excellent answer for that particular weakness. Overall, these 3 have really good defensive synergy, with Claydol tying everything together very nicely.
Mienshao
Jolly
Choice Scarf
Reckless
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP.
Hi Jump Kick, U-Turn, Stone Edge, Aerial Ace.
Say hello to the first offensive Pokemon in this set, Mienshao. Mienshao is... Awesome. Great revenge killer and overall killer in general. Reckless Hi Jump Kick is ridiculous. U-Turn is for revenge killing. Stone Edge is for some other coverage, and Aerial Ace is for even more coverage, YAY! Mienshao works well with the other offensive pokemon in the team, covering Chandelure's dark weakness and Honchcrow's dark and ice weakness. Overall pretty self-explanatory but awesome Pokemon.
Chandelure
Modest
Life Orb
Flash Fire
EVs: 68 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 184 Spd, 4 Sp. Def.
Shadow Ball, Fire Blast, Pain Split, Subsitute.
Chandelure is an awesome offensive Pokemon as well, relying slightly on bulk to set up some substitutes and deal some damage. Chandelure, obviously, has an amazing Sp. Atk so even uncharged hits deal incredible damage. Substitute and Pain Split help keep him alive for as long as I need him to be. Flash Fire can create some switch-in opportunities as well, further persuading the opponent to also switch so I can set up a sub. I personally love SubSplit, it's a really unique and effective set. Chandelure has good type synergy with the other offensive Pokemon, helping cover Mienshao's weakness to psychic and Honchcrow's weakness to ice.
Honchcrow
Jolly
Choice Scarf
Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Sp. Def.
Brave Bird, Night Slash, Drill Peck, Superpower.
I love using Honchcrow. Choice Scarf and Moxie are perfect for each other. This Pokemon can basically set itself up, if used right. All you have to do is choose the right attacking move, as Honchcrow slowly increases in strength and eliminates anything that doesn't counter it. This is why Honchcrow is great for cleaning up what's left of the opponents team near the end of the battle. Once counters are eliminated, Honchcrow is free to move in and destroy everything else. Honchcrow helps cover Mienshao's psychic weakness, but doesn't really help out Chandelure. Still, an awesome Pokemon.
SOME NOTABLE PROBLEMS
Well... Obviously you guys have probably noticed the extreme weakness to Stealth Rock. Because of this, I often have to very heavily rely on Claydol to be a pivot, switch in to stealth rock, and set up stealth rock. This basically means that Claydol CANNOT die, otherwise this team is severely crippled. It doesn't really help that Claydol can't recover either. Having more support options for my stealth rock-weak Pokemon would be very nice.
Along with that, the defensive Pokemon as a whole lack a lot of supporting moves. Noctowl helps spread Toxic around, but Suicune is basically there just to set himself up. This, again, makes Claydol very relied upon.
Also having some problems with bulky water types.
Other than that, I'll leave you guys to think of other problems.
If you can help me out with this team, that would be great. Thanks to you if you decide to help! ^.^
