Introduction

Hello once again smogon community, i had submitted a rmt similar to this one about 2 weeks ago, and after continuing to use it and made some of the changes i saw that some of the components of the team just didnt seem to fit together very well, so i have reworked the team with the suggestions from last time plus some totally new things that i believe will help out and help to counter all of those threats agiasnt my team. While still definetly not perfect, please rate my newest rework and let me know what you think! :D and without further ado the team:

038.gif

Ninetails @ leftovers

Trait: Drought
Evs: 252 HP / 124 Def / 132 SAtk
Relaxed Nature ( +Def/-Spd)
Ivs: 0 speed
-Protect
-Energy Ball
-Heat Wave
-Will-O-Wisp

This is going to be my weather starter of course, i decided to give it a leftovers along with a relaxed nature so that it will have itself some sustain along with being able to take some physical hits decently well. The current ev spread i am using i found from a fellow smogon user and find it to work well. Thanks to its 0 speed ivs and nature it can put its weather out on the field by being slower then the weather competition.Protect of course, a standard move and good in any situation, energy ball for that pesky politoad along with his good friend gastrodon and all other threats. Heat wave which is a great STAB move for ninetails hitting both of the oponents pokemon at the same time. And willowisp to throw out some Dot damage so my other team members can take them out with less trouble thanks to them being worn down by the burn.

Shiftry @ Focus Sash

Trait: Chlorophyll
Evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adament Nature (+Attk/-Spatk)
- Fake Out
- Seed Bomb
- Sucker Punch
-Explosion

After juggling around some strong sun sweepers, i finally set my eyes on two, shiftry and sawsbuck which ill mention later in my rmt. Shiftry at first glance just seemed like a frail piece of glass that can get destroyed easily, but after more careful observation you'll see that he is not to be messed with. Under Sun shiftrys speed becomes nearly unmatched, and thanks to focus sash he can live another turn to brutally beat the opponent back. Fake out seemed like a great option to give him, annoy the heck out of the opponent the first turn and just stall him/her out of the strategy they were going to do. Seed bomb for a strong STAB move towards those water and ground threats. Sucker punch, a great move that will work excellently even when not under the sun to help take out those latios and latias/cresselia i see so much around. And then when shiftry has done his job and or is just dead weight in the team, i put in explosion to deal maximum damage to all of the oppoenents team while using protect on my partner to shield the damage. Shiftry definetly seems like a great addition to my team, tbh i never really liked venasaur xD

Cresselia @ Mental Herb
Trait: Levitate
Calm Nature ( +Spdef/-attk)
Evs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
- Moonlight
-Icy Wind
-Helping Hand
- Psychic

Cresselia is the support pokemon that was suggested to me in my last rmt over jumpluff to help deal with those dragon type pokemon that i didnt seem to have anything to really take out or fight head on. I think cresselia already boasts incredible defenses, so along with that calm nature it'll definetly be even more tanky, and be able to support my team for a much longer time. Mental herb was suggested just in case there is a danger of a taunt or something similar to that, so my cresselia can keep on supporting and not be stopped. Moonlight, an incredible heal under sun will help to keep my cresselia nice and alive. Icy wind is there to help deal with those common dragons that come my way such as garchomp and salamence/dragonite. Helping hand is an incredible move, boosting my partners power to incredible hieghts to help KO the opposing pokemon. And of course Psychic for a good ol' STAB from cresselia so it too can help deal some damage when not too busy supporting my team.

243.gif

Raikou @ air balloon
Trait: Pressure
Rash Nature ( +Spatk/-Spdef)
Evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Weather Ball
-Aura sphere
-thunderbolt/thunder
-Protect

Ah raikou, one of my favorite legenderys around. This by the way, is the raikou from gamestop with the exclusive moves of aura sphere and weather ball. I decided to include raikou in my team to have a little lightning power in there, along with a few good covarage moves. Air balloon of course, since im running a rash raikou, some other pokemon who might pose a threat to him can have an advantage over him since he'll be a little slower, therefore air balloon provides a little cover for raikou here. Weather ball, in the sun turns into an incredibly hard hitting move, aura sphere as a good covarage move versus tyranitar and the like. Not sure if i should run thunderbolt or thunder, im thinking thunderbolt since it has 100% accuracy but not sure, maybe thunder better due to the power increase. And lastly, protect in that last move slot so he can have a little further coverage to stall a turn or such.

637.gif

Volcarona @ charti berry
Trait: Flame Body
Modest Nature ( +Spatk/-Atk)
Evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Bug Buzz
-Heat Wave
-Protect
-Quiver Dance

This volcarona is similar to the last volcarona i had with a few minor tweaks. I gave him a charti berry to help it hold out a rock slide to something similar, not sure if i should change the item, i would put focus sash but shiftry already has it. I also checked the smogon builds for volcarona and it suggests a timid nature, although i think id prefer a modest one over timid for that extra attacking power but then again might be wrong here. Bug buzz for that strong STAB/decent power and good covarage towards those psychic and dark types, Fire Blast of course seems like a great choice, a STAB fire blast under Sun can be very very deadly. Protect again for the same reasons as usual, and for his fourth move slot not sure at all what to put, maybe some sort of hidden power? what do you guys think. Let me know what can be improved here thanks!

Sawsbuck @ Choice Band
Trait: Chlorophyll
Evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adament Nature (+Atk/-Spatk)
-Horn Leech
-Nature Power
-Return
-Jump Kick

This sawsbuck is also from my previous team yet modified quite a bit. Sawsbuck under sun can be very fast, and thanks to his choice band he now also boasts an incredible power along with his already high attack stat. Horn leech for a good strong STAB move with some sustain behind it to help keep himself alive, Nature power being a killer move in doubles is definetly going on there, especially when its CB'd its amazing damage, return which is another good strong STAB move for when those grass and ground moves just arent cutting it for sawsbuck, and the fourth move slot i have no clue what to fit on there, i just tossed jump kick on there for the time being but dont really like it due to protect being a popular move in doubles and its chance to miss thus hurting my sawsbuck :(. Suggestions here would be awsome :D

Conclusion

Well everyone, we are at the end of this rmt, hopefully with your suggestions i can make this rework of my old team even better and climb those ladders! All suggestions and critiques are welcome. Thanks alot in advance :D

That Ninetales set looks awfully familiar :)

I'd say, unless going for a bulky Volcarona, drop the Charti Berry. Even at 252 HP, Stone Edge will OHKO through Charti and Rock Slide deals about 75-80% on the bulky spread. Sash would work in that spot instead. Also, why Fire Blast and Fiery Dance? Heat Wave is far superior, and dual Fire Attacks is redundant. You could change one out for Giga Drain or even Protect.

Why give Cresselia Mental Herb? I see no reason for it from here, as it isn't a Trick Room setter. Try a ChestoRest set instead.

Finally, Sawsbuck, while interesting, is NOT a good fit on the team. It gets screwed by a bad Protect or miss, and then gets locked into it. Not a good idea unless your name is Blaziken and its all you have.

Good luck!

Yeah lol its great, credit goes to you :D allright i shall change the sash to volcarona instead and give it protect, protect is always a great choice, should i gI've the shiftry a life orb then? definetly gonna look into the chestorest set i have heard good things about it. and finally as for sawsbuck whom would you suggest take his place? have no clue who to fit on there xD thanks in advance

Hey man!

Alright, I'm here to give you some suggestions to try to improve your sun team. Looking at it, I see that it's very weak to Stealth Rock because Ninetales and Volcarona take 25% and 50% respectively from it and because you haven't a Rapid Spin user to remove Stealth Rock and you haven't even a Magic Bounce user to try to bounce it. Also, your team looks weak to dragon-types too because you haven't a solid dragon-types resistor and Cresselia can't tank Outrages and Draco Meteors all the day because Moonlight isn't a very reliable recovery move. Looking at your team I can also see that you haven't a Stealth Rock setter and you haven't a revenge-killer to deal threats like Dragonite, Salamence, Thundurus-T, opposing Volcarona and so on more easily. Well, to solve the weakness to Stealth Rock and to dragon-types, I'd use Forretress replacing Shiftry which seems the weak line here. I'd use a EV spread of 252 HP | 252 SDef | 4 Def with a moveset of Rapid Spin, Gyro Ball, Volt Switch and Spikes, with Relaxed nature and with Leftovers. Ah, as you can see, Forretress can also put the very very important Stealth Rock and that's fine for your team in my opinion. Now you lack a revenge-killer and to solve that I suggest you to use somewhat similiar to Choice Scarf Terrakion replacing Raikou which is the other weak line in my opinion. Terrakion allows you to revenge-kill threats like Dragonite and Salamence as I already said and it allows also you to have a check to Tyranitar which is problematic for your current team. I will post Terrakion's set below in this same rate. Then, I don't understand the reason to use Protect and Volcarona, I suggest you to use Quiver Dance replacing it because is simple a better move and it allows Volcarona to become a very good sweeper. Finally, on Cresselia, Leftovers is a better item in general because it allows her to have a higher staying power which is always good. Like last thing, I suggest you to try Sword Dance > Jump Kick on Sawsbuck because it allows Sawsbuck to be a better sweeper and wall breaker but that's optional.

Anyways, here's the set you should use:

Sprnbmd639.png

Terrakion @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- X-Scissor

Good luck!

this is a doubles team

Thanks for the terrakion set, he has always seemed like a strong pokemon, and as a revenge killer like you listed seems to be a perfect option, just one thing on the fortress, i thought that spikes and things like that were nearly non-existent in doubles since double matches last only a couple of turns, and also looking to replace sawsbuck since blankzero suggested that he has no palce to fit onto this seem, and after looking it over he's right and im looking for someone worthy to replace him with, any ideas for that would be wonderful, on the volcarona seeing as i have two fire moves which needs to be taken out, going to update the volcarona moveset as well, and @ charizard, i posted a doubles rmt last time in the Ou section and for some reason a moderator moved it over to here, so thought the right section to post it was here.

There is no item Clause in Doubles, so you can sash them both actually. For Sawsbuck, I'd trade for another fast Mon like Terrakion, who gets Close Combat, Rock Slide, and EQ, all of which help cover some Sand weaknesses.

Question. Why is this in Other? it should be in the OU thread or are you planning to not battle competively?

It's not an OU team, it is a Doubles team. Therefore, it falls into the Other Category.

I'd disagree about the Rocks comment, as well as the Dragon comment, seeing as this is Doubles.

yeah true allright, definetly going to switch that sawsbuck up for terrakion then, he seems like a great choice. thanks for the rates so far :D

I actually am going to second the suggestion to replace Shiftry for Forretress. Not at all for the same reasons though.
Forretress gets Sturdy+Custap Berry+Explosion and it can provide support to Volcarona to sweep.
Struggle Bug+Light Screen+Reflect can destroy the offensive presence of your opponent.
Worth looking into.

np alexander, thanks fpr the rate anyways :D Definetly taking terrakion into accounr, and as for fortress gping to look into him too. he seems great, I'm just slightly worried id have a shirtage of chlorropyh abusera on the team

Forretress is... ass, in doubles. He's weak to rain and sun teams and sturdy doesn't mean shit in the face of double targetting and he has no offensive presence and low speed. Stick with what you've got, it's a solid team. Try terrak though.

Allright, gonna just take out the sawsbuck for terrakion as well as make the other adjuatment. thanks a lot everyone :D
