Abusing sleep clause?

Yeah, since the Australian Connection Tour 07 lacks Sleep Clause in a 3v3 format, I figured I'd want to be a lamer and abuse the lack of Sleep Clause.

My current ideas:

Breloom @ Toxic Orb, Poison Heal
- Spore, Substitute, Leech Seed, Brick Break
100% accuracy in sleeping might be important, and the large heal-over-time that Breloom gets after Seeding would help it live longer to spam Spore. Brick Break would be for Blissey mainly.

Persian @ Focus Sash, Limber
- Hypnosis, Roar, U-Turn, Switcheroo
I can sleep something, send it away, and sleep the next bugger, Persian's speed being good enough to land Hypnosis first (base 115, Latis are base 110, Garchomp 102). Sash is forgiving of a missed Hypnosis. U-Turn is basically a switch that puts some damage on opposing Lats - does it let me escape Wobbuffaggot? Not sure whether to use Switcheroo or Slash for last move.

Any suggestions as to how to best abuse no sleep clause?

I'm frankly unimpressed by Sleep Clause. If you start putting everything to sleep, then your opponent will switch to a sleeptalker or something with Insomnia.

What i used was Spore-punching Breloom with Focus Sash, Yanmega@Wide Lens, protect and then hypnosis. the most common thing i saw in all the competitions in brisbane was Gengar with hypnosis.

My brother managed to win the first one in brisbane with that Breloom. The yanmega got me to the final 8 on another day but i lost to a choice scarf latios (who puts a choice scarf on it).

If you are playing 3v3 get rid of leech seed for seed bomb and definitely get Focus Punch. I also had Stone Edge over Substitute to cover fly 'mons.

Another thing, give your pokemon lum berries and chesto berries if you are indeed entering the Australian comps. All the top players are using sleep moves so it's awesome to surprise them with a berry.

Assuming they even have one of those. Neither are all that common, so unless you're building your team for a sleep abuse environment, chances are you'll be caught with your pants down.

I'm also a fan of Jolly Crobat with a Focus Sash, Hypnosis, and Whirlwind. Just try to sleep their entire team. Weeeee.

Not many people use Hypno, Honchkrow, and Banette (Insomnia), and Sleep Talk has a randomness factor, so not many people use it.

I like this one;

CSBreloom @ Toxic Orb/Focus Sash
doesn't matter all its gonna do is;
~ Spore

Hariyama @ Leftovers?
defensively built
~ Fake Out
~ Whirlwind

Spore Pokemon A, Fake Out Pokemon B
Spore Pokemon B, Roar Pokemon A
Spore Pokemon C, Roar Pokemon B
Spore Pokemon D? Roar Pokemon C
(iono Pokemon A might come out, if so, switch out)
(Playing double battle 4vs4 cause thats what my Gamestop rules are)

How do you intend to use a Choice Scarf Breloom with Toxic Orb or Focus Sash?

I think many of you are trying to put all your eggs in one basket here, not realizing that the basket has a hole in it (Sleep Talk, Lum Berry, Chesto Berry, faster Substitute).

I believe the OP just said that he was going to compete in a tournament without Sleep Clause...

How about this... Put a Vaporeon on a SR team. Give him Yawn, Roar, Rest, and Sleep Talk. Before long, your opponent's team will be asleep and you'll be bouncing them around like a rubber ball.

I agree with Obi. It's certainly a strategy worth trying, as a slept Pokemon might as well be dead in 3v3, however the problem is that there's a lot of hate out there. When you consider that almost everything will have Ice moves due to the Latis, the Grass type sleepers may not be the best choice and Hypnosis is a coinflip.

Taking an entire team of sleepers isn't a good idea, but one will certainly help and two might net you some suprise wins, especially if people rely on nothing but Berries.

Oh and yes, U-Turn lets you switch out against Wobba.

Jumpluff@ Leftovers
Max speed nature max speed EVS (can get something like 350 speed if i recall)

Sunny Day
Sleep Powder
Leech Seed
Sustitute

If any sleeper you take, it should most definitely this one, most annoying poke in the game if you have no sleep clause.

Either this or!

Agility spore Smeargle.
