Accelgor and Friends

This team build began as team-build for the OU Teambuilding competition, lately I've been having a lot of success with it but I feel that with some help it could be greatly improved upon.

So to begin this OU Teambuilding competition required me to use Mega-Gardevior and Bisharp (I can get rid of them now if I want). I added in Rotom-W and Heatran to help protect Gards and Bisharp weakness. I used Dragon Dance Zygarde because I lack spinner/defogger and because it puts very little strain on my defenisive core. Then I decided to try out a harassing Accelgor a choice I did not regret. I am very happy with this team because it is pretty much my first good non-generic, non-Trick Room team.

So my team looks like this

Now to the in-depth overview.

Bisharp @ Dread Plate
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance

Bisharp is an asset to this team as he prevents defog. I chose a mono-attacking Sub-SD Bisharp as Gardevior can usually take out all of the dark resists on the opponents team before Bisharp comes out. I am max speed because it is very crucial to get fast subs and speed creeping defensive Rotom-W to prevent burns. I feel that Bisharp can be replaced as he doesn't add as much to the team as I thought he would intially.

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Healing Wish
- Hyper Voice
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic

Mega-Gardevior is such a great wall-breaker. Though base 100 is usually a poor speed tier I can use this speed to break fast defensive walls such as Rotom-W or Mandibuzz. Gardevoir's main fear is a bullet punch from a Scizor which both parts of my core tank very well. Gardevior is an excellent wall breaker who simply doesn't put a lot of strain on my core. I could see dropping her only if there is another mega that really fits this team build better (maybe SD Mega-Mawile).

Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 104 Spd
Bold Nature
- Trick
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch

I'll admit this Rotom-W has a strange EV spread but its for a pretty good reason. I needed at least a check to Mold Breaker Excadrill who destroys most of my team so I gave Rotom-W a scarf but I still needed it to be bulky so I only gave Rotom enough speed to outspeed max speed positive nature base 110s (Lati@s and Gengar) with a scarf. Trick Scarf Rotom-W is very useful to cripple defensive walls (especially the pink blobs who frequently switch into Rotom) which really helps Bisharp and Zygarde sweep.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Toxic

Heatran's many resistances and great overall bulk make it a key component of this defensive core. This is a toxic-stall Heatran the set that I've personally had the most trouble dealing with. His fire attack is very important to this team to break Pokemon such as Skarmory and Ferrothorn. As always Heatran complements Rotom-W well and protects my team against a lot of dangerous sweepers.

Zygarde @ Lum Berry
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed

This is a pretty standard Dragon Dance Zygarde but his real importance is how well he complements Accelgor. Accelgor and Zygarde share no weaknesses and most pokemon who kill Accelgor are either murdered by Zygarde (Heatran especially) or are complete set-up fodder. The only Unfortunate thing about Zygarde is how easy it is for Skarmory to wall. While there are a couple members of my team who can kill Skarmory until it dies Zygarde my win condition cannot come out. Another unfortunate thing is how often I have to outrage flying types and levitators only to get locked in and revenged by a fairy type. I would love to use Dragonite but I need to open up a spot for a defogger/spinner before I do that. Despite all these issues Zygarde is still an amazing mid to late-game sweeper.

Accelgor @ Focus Sash
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Hasty Nature
- Spikes
- Encore
- U-turn
- Yawn

This my own creation, Harrassing Accelgor and it is marvelous and IMO gives Deoxys-S a run for its money support-wise. Spikes while not the most useful entry hazard help Zygarde and Bisharp OHKO more defensive pokemon in sweeps. Encore and Yawn both phase but have different uses and I find it useful to have both on a set. Encore can lock defensive pokemon into Stealth Rock which is usually what my opponent does first turn seeing as I have no spinner. Then once they switch I yawn then I U-Turn which either secures me momentum or their pokemon falls asleep (Which gives free time to set). Accelgor outspeeds most relevant set-up sweepers outpacing +1 max speed base 80s (Dragonite) and speed tieing +1 neutral nature base 97s then Encoring and Yawn to force a switch. There is so much more like locking Kyurem-B into sub then Hyper Voicing him through said sub with Gardevior. Usually Accelgor is underwhelming but he just works so well with this team archetype.

Problems for this team

Skarmory: Skarmory's good defensive stats and typing along with its access to phasing moves make it very difficult for either of my set-up sweepers to break a team (Especially Zygarde). Rotom-W is only able threaten Skarmory out. I even started carrying T-bolt on Mega-Gard in the hopes I could catch a Skarmory by surprise and take it out.

Stick Web: Not in a million years would I think a team with Bisharp would have trouble with Sticky Web but it just ruins most of my mons. Accelgor hates it, Zygarde hates it, Mega-Gard hates it half my team just really, really hates Sticky Web and becuase I don't have defogger I can't do anything about it. At least Bisharp gets +2 from Stick Web but other than that Sticky Web screws me over.

I would add more stuff here but I can't exactly remember what else is a pain.

Wish List (Stuff I want on this team that I can't see how to make room for):

A Defogger of Spinner:
This issue kinda pairs with my issue with Sticky Web. I want a defogger but I sill need a solid defensive core and a way to maintain momentum.

Belly Drum Azumarill: I could see Belly Drum Azumarill wrecking on this team especially with a free-turn of set-up provided by Accelgor. While I would like to use it I just don't know where to put or if I should even add it at all.

Here are a couple of Replays that demonstrate this team's effectiveness

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-91389356 - This demonstrates Trick Scarf's harassing power along with the usefulness of Sub SD bisharp. Accelgor sucks in this replay tho :(.
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-91423074 – Just a really awesome match all around.

Two things: One, did you enter this team in the OU teambuilding thing, where the assignment was to have core a core with bisharp and Mega gardevoir? Just curious.

And second, there are many better harassing pokemon than accelgor. I think Whimsicott would be better, due to similar typings, prankster, and a secondary fairy typing. That is all I can think of for now.

Thanks for the Rate!

Yeah thats the competition I should've posted a link to it in the rate. Whimsicott could make more sense than Accelgor (I didn't know that it gets U-Turn) I'll give it a try but I don't think completely superior, as Whimsi doesn't have access to yawn or the unmatched speed for u-turns.
