PU Accelgor

:ss/accelgor:
[OVERVIEW]
Accelgor makes for a decent revenge killer given its higher Speed than everything but Ninjask. It works well as an offensive Spiker, with Knock Off accentuating this, removing pesky items such as Heavy-Duty Boots. It also provides pivoting in U-turn, acting as an early-game pivot and switching out on special walls like Audino and Lanturn as they come in. Accelgor can also serve as a deadly sweeper with Throat Spray + Bug Buzz on hyper offense, setting up while forcing crucial damage onto checks like Charizard and Garbodor on the same turn, helping other sweepers. However, Accelgor tends to be quite weak unless hitting a foe super effectively, and its meager bulk means even walls like Aromatisse often 2HKO it. It's also held back by its poor offensive typing in Bug and a weakness to common, good offensive types in Fire, Rock, and Flying. These flaws mean that Accelgor matches up poorly against entry hazard removers like Charizard and Coalossal. Accelgor also faces competition as an offensive Spiker from Froslass, which simultaneously spinblocks and boasts amazing utility options like Taunt and Destiny Bond.

[SET COMMENTS]

Knock Off makes Accelgor's Spikes more of a hassle to deal with for foes like Heavy-Duty Boots Audino while also punishing Eviolite users like Doublade on the switch. Focus Blast hits Steel- and Rock-types such as Aggron, Perrserker, and Togedemaru, and U-turn allows for pivoting. Recover can also be run to help get Spikes up against weaker defensive foes like Sandaconda lacking a Rock-type move, Audino, and Whimsicott. Sticky Hold prevents Accelgor from losing its Heavy-Duty Boots, giving it more opportunities to safely switch in and set Spikes. Scrafty is a notable partner that enjoys Accelgor's pivoting and can use Spikes to enhance its wallbreaking potential. Wallbreakers that enjoy having Steel-types chipped also work amazingly with Accelgor, like Glastrier, Cinccino, and Galarian Articuno. Glastrier also checks Ninjask and appreciates the pivoting support Accelgor provides. Gallade also works well as a partner, taking on Rock- and Steel-types for Accelgor and enjoying being brought in by U-turn, since it's relatively slow.

[SET COMMENTS]
Focus Blast hits Steel- and Rock-types like Aggron, Togedemaru, Gigalith, and Regirock. Energy Ball hits Jellicent and Quagsire, as well as OHKOing Sandaconda at +1. Sludge Bomb allows Accelgor to revenge kill Ribombee, and it is also meant to force significant damage onto Charizard. Mud Shot is an alternative that doesn't chip Charizard, but could work to force damage on Doublade, Garbodor, and Neutralizing Gas Weezing. Doublade and Ribombee are some of the best sweepers to pair with Sludge Bomb Accelgor, as they can break past checks like Charizard and Gigalith after Accelgor wears them down. Rock-type sweepers like Lycanroc and Carracosta offer good synergy because they threaten Flying-types for Accelgor, and they rely on it to deal with defensive Water- and Grass-types, as well as faster threats like Whimsicott. +1 Bug Buzz cannot usually get past walls like Weezing and Garbodor, but its damage is significant enough for physical sweepers like Silvally formes and Scrafty to clean thereafter. Physical sweepers help in return by forcing out special walls like Gigalith and Audino.

We only need one set for Accelgor right now, namely the offensive spiker one, which would look like this:

[SET]
name: Spikes
move 1: Spikes
move 2: Bug Buzz
move 3: Knock Off
move 4: Focus Blast / U-turn
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Sticky Hold
nature: Timid
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

The Focus Sash lead is not worth highlighting due to hyper offense not currently being in a great place in PU. As for the Choice Specs set, while it is certainly more consistent than Focus Sash, its prediction reliant nature more or less takes away from Accelgor's other qualities. The extra power is nice, but Accelgor does not really need it to revenge kill most of its primary targets, benefits more from being able to switch moves, and is still largely walled/hampered by much of the same stuff either way.

[OVERVIEW]
Because of Accelgor's blistering speed tier, it makes for an amazing revenge killer as it doesn't have to fear about being outsped by non-Choice Scarf users bar Ninjask. However, it's held back due to its poor offenesive typing in Bug, weakness to Stealth Rocks, and a weakness to common, good offensive types such as Fire, Flying, and Rock. (true, but having this sentence here is very awkward, and it doesn't flow well into the next sentence at all. move it to the end of the overview.) It gets access to Spikes, which cripple the opposing team, allowing its team break the opposing team more easily. (this point is kind of generic and only really describes what spikes does. instead, explain what makes accelgor a good offensive spiker.) Getting access to U-turn allows Accelgor to act as an early-game pivot and get the jump on special walls by switching out with U-turn as they come in. Sticky Hold, its best ability, allows it to ignore Knock Off’s secondary affect, but, due to its low HP and defense, it can’t do it consistently. (edit: you're not using this as a knock absorber at all unless you run recover, it just has the ability to take weaker knocks from stuff like audino.)

[SET]

move 1: Spikes
move 2: Bug Buzz
move 3: Knock Off

Spikes are to set up consistently damaging entry hazards. Bug Buzz is a good, strong STAB move which its the Psychic- types like Mesprit, Grass-types like Eldegoss, and Dark-types like Absol or Sneasel. (obvious info.) Knock Off gets rid of opponents' items, meaning those who are reliant on them get crippled. (keep the knock off sentence BUT absolutely make it more about how the move makes spikes more annoying by removing boots/lefties, that's too important not to note.) Focus Blast hits the Steel- and Rock-types that love to come in on Accelgor, (such as...) and U-turn allows for pivoting. (mention recover as an option for the last slot, seen some p effective use of the move on accel before.) Because of its weakness to Stealth Rocks, Heavy-Duty Boots lets you ignore them, and it means that using U-turn won't cripple you every time you come back in. In conjunction with Sticky Hold, Accelgor can't lose its item whether its due to a Trick, Switcheroo, or opposing Knock-Off user.

add good teammates for accelgor after the last sentence, you're missing those rn

Please implement the rest of my check (I only counted one comment from it that was properly implemented), including adding teammates where I mentioned doing so. Be sure to also add mentions of the new Pokemon that fell to PU wherever applicable.

Mb. I don’t want to make excuses, but this was a while ago, and I don’t really understand what happened on my end. However, I’ll get straight to it! Tyvm

mention accelgor's meager bulk (which you did point out before) mostly limiting its switch-in/spikes opportunities to doubles/forced switches, but do so in a standalone sentence. accelgor is also not that strong unless hitting something for super effective damage, which you should absolutely point out.

Guzzlord is a notable partner that enjoys Accelgor’s pivoting and is able to abuse Spikes with its RestTalk Dragon Tail and Choice-locked sets alike (this part where you mention specific guzz sets doesn't really need to be here, the point isn't lost without it.), giving Accelgor a powerful breaker. Wallbreakers that enjoy having Steel-types chipped also work amazingly well in conjunction with Accelgor, like Glastrier, Cinccino, and Galarian Articuno. The former also enjoys Accelgor being able to pivot it in. Gallade can also work well as a partner taking on Rock- and Steel-types for Accelgor, and, since its relatively slow, it enjoys Accelgor being able to pivot it in to battle.

mention recover as a viable alternative in the last moveslot. extended longevity for something like accelgor is really good, makes it easier to comfortably spike against weaker foes.

hi Sulo !
random thoughts
love the first sentence rework, love the end sentence of set 1 rework, good concision stuff all around like first sentence of set 2
muster/break and breaks/wears was a real smarticle change, love to see it
found two small oopsies in check, in intro you forgot to add back something about accelgor's early-game role, and "its meager bulk means its" missing apostrophe
"Sludge Bomb allows Accelgor to revenge kill Ribombee, and it is"
'it' should remain here; comma is setting out a new independent clause post-conjunction, and "it is often 2hkoed..." works as an independent clause/sentence while "is often 2hkoed..." does not
:psyglad:
