XY OU Acid Rain Team

This is a team I like to call Acid Rain. Why? Because Rain hurts. A lot. It will burn right through you until there is nothing left.

Now, I suppose this team could be considered a Hyper Offensive Rain Team, but I'm not really too sure with those terms, as I don't really use them myself. So if this team can be classified as anything else, do let me know.

Anyway, as usual, looking for support and feedback on how the team can be improved!

Politoed (F) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Perish Song
- Scald
- Toxic
- Ice Beam

Politoed is probably the most important piece of this team, as it is all powerful Rain maker. In order to keep Politoed as healthy as possible, I've chosen a defensive set, with max Investments in HP and Def, while putting the rest in SpD. Giving it a Bold Nature is also important here. However, even with these precautions, Politoed rarely stays in longer than the first turn to set up Rain as, since Rain is no longer permanent, it needs to be recycled when the Rain runs out. Damo Rock is another important piece here, as it helpfully extends Rain's duration, which is so very important to the team.

As for the moveset, STAB Scald is great, especially when facing physical threats thanks to the chance to Burn, and Ice Beam helps cover threats such as Gliscor and Landorus. Toxic is great when faced with bulky Pokemon and Walls, while Perish Song discourages Pokemon from setting up. Essentially, this move set is all about screwing up my opponent's plays.

Kingdra (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Waterfall
- Iron Head

Since its introduction in Generation II, Kingdra has been one of my all time favorite Pokemon. With an elegant design based off of one of the most beautiful animals in the world (The Weedy Sea Dragon), Kingdra commands respect wherever it goes. Especially in the Rain.

The Main Physical Sweeper of the team, Swift Swim Kingdra is truly a force to be reckoned with. Dragon Dance boosts Kingdra's already high speed in Rain to insane levels, while also giving it a nice boost in its attack, making sweeping so much easier, While STAB Outrage (Once all my opponent's Fairy Pokemon have been removed) is capable to completely destroying teams late game. Waterfall is another very nice secondary STAB when I don't want to lock myself in Outrage, while Iron Head is an amazing answer to Kingdra's Fairy problem, especially with the aforementioned insane speed. Life Orb is also a very nice touch here as if gives Kingdra that extra power boost to make it truly terrifying.

Thank you Gen II for bringing us this majestic Dragon. Now can it please get a Mega?

Ludicolo (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swift Swim
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Focus Blast
- Hydro Pump
- Giga Drain
- Ice Beam

I was once watching a pretty popular Youtuber on Youtube once, and he was battling using a Sun Team. And on said team he had a Choice Specs Venusaur with Chlorophyll, and it was a dangerous set indeed. So I got to thinking, why not try the same thing, except with a Pokemon with Swift Swim?

Now, while I'm not sure if Choice Specs/Swift Swim Ludicolo is exactly a new or exciting idea, I sure love it. Ludicolo is extremely fast in the Rain, and Choice Specs makes is something you do not want to mess with unless you have a direct counter.

Hydro Pump and Giga Drain are the main STAB moves of the set, Hydro Pump providing pure, un-adulterated power, while Giga Drain provides Ludicolo a reliable form of recovery while keeping the offensive pressure on. Focus Blast and Ice Beam provide some nice coverage for Ludicolo, allowing it to hit Steel and Ice types respectively. EV spread here is pretty self explanatory.

Tornadus-Therian (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 132 HP / 160 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Focus Blast
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Who likes 100% accuracy Hurricane? Tornadus does. Equipped with an Assault Vest and Regenerator, Tornadus-Therian becomes an extremely hard-to-kill tank that can really hurt foes with its 100% accuracy STAB Hurricane. Focus Blast allows Tornadus to hit Steel and Rock types that would wall it, while Knock Off gives Tornadus the nice ability to get rid of my opponent's items, which is always fun. Lastly, U-Turn gives Tornadus access to the job of a scout, seeing what moves my Opponent wants to make so I can act accordingly. It also allows me to get a Regenerator boost off while doing at least some damage to the opponent. The EV spread is to keep Tornadus speedy and powerful, while giving it some bulk on top of Assault Vest.

Toxicroak (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Dry Skin
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch

Sadly, despite unique access to both Dry Skin and Black Sludge, while also having Drain Punch for massive recovery power, Toxicroak is probably the weakest link of the team. It isn't exactly the bulkiest Pokemon in the world, and while it has decent speed and power, it can't seem to really apply to much offensive Pressure.

Access to Swords Dance does help this problem a but, but I've noticed that even with the boost, Toxicroak lacks that overwhelming presence other Fighting types have. Gunk Shot does provide nice Poison STAB, which really helps against Fairy types, while, as mentioned above, Drain Punch allows for STAB power and added recovery. Sucker Punch is always nice for priority, allowing Toxicroak to pick off weakened foes.

mega_scizor_by_hukuzo-d72lihx.png

Scizor (F) @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn

While Scizor may seem like a weird choice for a Rain Team, it actually fits quite well here. Since Scizor is infamous for being 4x weak to Fire, Rain's Fire Damage reduction greatly benefits Scizor in this way. And in return for such a gift, Scizor provides the gift of Defog. This is a bulky set, meant more for the Defog support than insane physical presence, but that doesn't mean the Steel Bug is completely helpless here.

Mega Scizor still has an impressive Attack Stat, even with only 4 EVs invested into it, allowing it to threaten various Fairy Pokemon such as Togekiss and Gardevoir out thanks to the risk of STAB, Technician boosted Bullet Punch. U-Turn is secondary STAB for Psychic types while allowing Scizor to switch out if it is needed for another Defog later. Roost is Scizor's only reliable recovery, but it is all that it needs, thanks to its EV spread maximizing its Hp and Def.

Altough I might not be the best advice giver, I think you should definitely have a back-up rain setter- ya know in case Politoed dies early on. I would suggest Thundurus because he gets prankster which pretty much guarantees the rain is gonna get up as well as access to STAB Thunder which is pretty powerful. The one thing is I don't know who you would replace :/. Hope this helps tho :)

Ludicolo shines with its movepool, and can easily sweep a weakened team. I suggest you to use life orb instead of specs. You wouldn't want to be locked in a move if ludicolo is your last pokemon while you could be easily blasting the shit out of the remnants of the enemy team with super effective moves. It already has giga drain to relieve the hp loss from the LO, so it's perfect for it.
Also try using another rain setter. Tornadus would be perfect, but idk what to replace (maybe knock off?) and maybe put a life orb on it too
Finally, switch those def evs from scizor into spdef. Hes stupidly bulky enough in def, and try adding like 40 atk or something
