Special Attacker (Elekid) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Static
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Punch
- Hidden Power Grass / Toxic
- Substitute

[SET COMMENTS]
Elekid is a solid special cleaner and revenge killer thanks to its amazing Speed and coverage, notably being faster than Abra and more effective against Water-types than Quilava. Ice Punch nails Ground-types like Cubone and Grass-types like Gloom and Lileep. Hidden Power Grass hits Chinchou, which has Volt Absorb and resists Ice Punch, super effectively, and it OHKOes Rhyhorn. Toxic is an alternative to punish and wear down special walls like Porygon and Lombre. Substitute enables Elekid to safely activate its Petaya Berry, takes advantage of switches Elekid forces, and blocks status from defensive Pokemon like Porygon, Gloom, and Lileep. If Elekid is running Toxic, then it can use Substitute to exacerbate the passive damage from Toxic against poisoned foes. The boost from Petaya Berry enables Elekid to sweep weakened teams and overwhelm defensive Pokemon like Gloom and Porygon.

Offense teams appreciate Elekid's great Speed and colorful coverage, and wallbreakers like Ponyta, Aipom, and Doduo can open the way for Elekid to clean up in the end-game. Special wallbreakers like Clamperl and Quilava are especially noteworthy for softening up special walls like Delcatty and Porygon. Water-types like Seaking can draw in and weaken Gloom and Porygon to give Elekid an easier time finishing them off. Beedrill and Ariados can both switch into Gloom pressure it offensively for Elekid, while Elekid outspeeds and revenge kills fast offensive answers to them, such as Ponyta and Abra. Paralysis support from Gloom and Porygon can open up Elekid to set up Substitute safely, and these Pokemon can also check or soften up troublesome Electric-types like Magnemite, Chinchou, and Flaaffy, especially with status. Toxic support from users like Mightyena and Wartortle synergizes with Elekid's Substitute, opens Elekid up to run Hidden Power Grass more freely, and puts specially bulky Pokemon like Porygon and Lileep on a timer.

Other Options
=============

Elekid has access to other great coverage moves to replace Hidden Power Grass and Toxic: Cross Chop nails specially defensive Lileep and Normal-types like Delcatty and Porygon, Psychic is strong against Dustox and hits other Poison-types like Gloom and Ariados harder than Thunderbolt, and Fire Punch nails Magnemite and the aforementioned Poison-types. However, Elekid's boltbeam and Hidden Power Grass coverage hit the widest range of targets for neutral or super effective damage, so switching out any of its coverage moves makes it less consistent as a sweeper.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Gloom**: Gloom has the bulk to survive Elekid's Ice Punch and hit it back hard, and its poison immunity lets it wall unboosted Toxic variants of Elekid.

**Special Walls**: Porygon, Lombre, and Lileep can wall Elekid thanks to their reliable recovery. Dustox's poison immunity helps it sit on Toxic variants of Elekid, while Delcatty has access to Heal Bell.

**Electric-types**: Flaaffy and Magnemite are tanky enough to beat Elekid one-on-one; the former has Heal Bell to deal with Toxic, while the latter is immune to Toxic. Chinchou's Volt Absorb lets it tank hits from Elekid, but it has to be wary of Hidden Power Grass variants and being worn down by Toxic.

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe (doesnt it want 4 HP to sub down to 25%? seems niche but at least it can take a QA from Quilava)

Elekid is a solid special cleaner and revenge killer thanks to its amazing Speed and coverage (could be good to mention why you'd choose it over say Abra or Quilava? maybe mention the better matchup into Mightyena and Noctowl, respectively. just something to ponder since it's a B tier mon and explaining the niche could be good). Ice Punch nails Ground-types like Cubone and Grass-types like Gloom and Lileep. Hidden Power Grass hits Chinchou, which has Volt Absorb and resists Ice Punch, super effectively, and it OHKOes Rhyhorn. Cross Chop nails specially defensive Lileep and Normal-types like Delcatty and Porygon. Psychic is strong against Dustox and hits other Poison-types like Gloom and Ariados harder than Thunderbolt. Fire Punch nails Magnemite and does decent damage to the aforementioned Poison-types too. However, Elekid's boltbeam and Hidden Power Grass coverage hit the widest range of targets for neutral or super effective damage, so switching out any of its coverage moves makes it less consistent as a sweeper. (mention what some of these moves would replace, i assume it's usually the hp grass/tox spot but i would just clarify that is the flex spot)
