Anorith functions as a strong Salac Berry sweeper thanks to its high base Attack, solid type combination, and Swords Dance. Rock Slide is used most often due to the lack of Rock-resistant Pokemon within the tier, being able to OHKO Flaaffy, Noctowl, and uninvested Seaking at +2. Brick Break complements Rock Slide by targetting the likes of Corsola, Magnemite, and Porygon super effectively. Alternatively, Hidden Power Bug secures an OHKO on the likes of physically defensive Lileep at +2 and physically defensive Mightyena at +3 after Intimidate. Substitute gives Anorith some form of protection from switch-ins and status, allowing it to set up freely while getting itself down to Salac Berry range. Anorith can scare off Pokemon such as Magnemite and Ariados through its attacking options, allowing it the free opportunity to use Substitute. Swords Dance allows Anorith to become a threatening cleaner. An Adamant nature allows Anorith to OHKO uninvested Seaking at +2. 76 Speed EVs allow Anorith to outspeed Pokemon such as Ponyta and Abra at +1, while the Special Defense EVs allow it to tank Quilava's Fire Blast and Abra's Psychic so it can set up.
Salac Berry Anorith functions best on offensive teams that benefit from having a strong cleaner to support them. Pokemon such as Gloom, Flaaffy, and Castform that help spread status are appreciated, giving Anorith more windows of opportunity to set up and sweep. Various Choice Band users, such as Aipom, and other setup Pokemon, like Quilava and Cubone, can help dismantle certain defensive cores, which allows Anorith to have an easier time sweeping. Seaking can cover for the likes of Koffing thanks to its solid Special Attack allowing it to 2HKO Koffing with Surf and access to Water Veil. Castform offers mixed attacking coverage and status, weakening threats like Gloom and Koffing and allowing Anorith to come in and clean. Wartortle gives Anorith a hard time. To help with this, both Magnemite and Tentacool are immune to its Toxic, Magnemite can 2HKO Wartortle with Thunderbolt, and Tentacool can apply pressure to non-Refresh and Seismic Toss Wartortle with status and Substitute. Anorith provides an important resistance to Normal, which Flaaffy and Porygon appreciate. However, Anorith isn't bulky enough to switch into Normal-type wallbreakers such as Choice Band Aipom and Doduo long-term, so Pokemon such as physically defensive Gloom and faster threats like Ponyta can prevent these Pokemon from causing too much havoc.
