ORAS OU Advancing Threat (First RMT)

This is my first RMT and a team I really enjoy using. The team is based around using boosting moves to scare out dangerous Pokemon and beating switch ins. Moreover, the raw power of my team and the synergy between them helps the team work together. That being said, let me show you my team. I have been playing Showdown casually some time, but I want to get into the competitive scene with a strong team.

The names are of the Pokemon are the names of songs I like.

Hero (Gallade) @ Galladite
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Skill Swap
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt

This is Mega Gallade, half of an iconic duo with Bisharp. Mega Gallade and Bisharp have a great offensive presence and work off each other beautifully. The base 110 speed gives me the speed I need to be a threatening sweeper after a swords dance. Skill Swap was chosen because my team is threatened by Mega Sableye, and if Mega Sableye tries to burn my Gallade, it will instead be burned. My team is always threatened by Mega Lopunny, so steadfast was chosen over justified to speed up on fake outs by Mega Lopunny, only to be punished. Mega Gallade's special bulk should not be underestimated either.

Face Me (Bisharp) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch

Bisharp is the other half of the pairing with Mega Gallade. Bisharp carries pursuit to catch dangerous Latios that can stop my Gallade from sweeping. Bisharp obviously can't break difficult walls by itself, such as ferrothorn, but Gallade has no issues with that. Bisharp can also take down strong fairy types in the tier.

Bye Bye Babylon (Garchomp) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 76 SpD / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Endure

The stealth rocker of the team, but not just a suicide lead. Bulky Garchomp is a great pokemon by itself but by running Endure over another move, it whittles down pokemon like Mega Lopunny who try to Fake Out or Return, only to end up taking 50% of their life in recoil and fainting to an aqua jet from Azumarill.

Gravity Hurts (Azumarill) @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Superpower
- Play Rough

Azumarill is once again another strong Pokemon selected for this team. Azumarill keeps the theme of power going with a choice band set. Aqua Jet revenge kills threats too fast to kill with my other Pokemon. Superpower was chosen over knock off because it is a superior option to hit neutrally when waterfall and knock off aren't ideal. 16 speed EVs were chosen to speed creep.

Crashed (Thundurus) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Nasty Plot

Thundurus brings much need special attacking presence to my team, which until this point, it lacked. Thundurus carries a nasty plot set, because it's base 111 speed is spectacular for outspeeding and dismantling teams. Focus blast is the optimal 3rd move of choice to hit super effectively on bulky steel types that would otherwise survive.

Caught in a Dream (Landorus-Therian) @ Yache Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Rock Polish

Landorus-T follows once again the theme of the team by being a terrifying double dancing sweeper. Depending on what is necessary, Landorus can boost and clean what remains of the enemy team, or provide a powerful hit where needed. Landorus also acts as a much needed pivot to this team. Furthermore, an intimidate plus a quick switch to Garchomp makes his rough skin that much more potent, dealing less damage to the land shark. A Yache berry was chosen due to my severe weakness to Mega Manectric, which is caught off guard by the berry and is subsequently dispatched by earthquake.

---------------------------------------

As far as I can tell, my team carries very little speed control.

The biggest threat to me team is Mega Aerodactyl, which can only be taken down by a CB Azumarill, which has to be played properly to even be considered a check.

Mega Manectric and Mega Sceptile are also terrifying.

Mega Sceptile has to be killed before it mega evolves, and cannot get a single free switch in to revenge kill.

Mega Manectric can be defeated by Gallade + Priority, but sacking one maybe two pokemon is mandatory. I heavily rely on Yache Lando to take care of this.

Nice team, but like you said, it could use some improvements. First, it'd be nice for clarification on the pokemon descriptions; saying Gallade and Bisharp are a great offensive core is true, but it will help both you and readers in teambuilding if you list why. It also lets you see mons that check them. This also includes some of the EV spreads, such as Azu. What do 16 speed ev's speed creep? I'll get to that later.
On Gallade, Drain Punch > Close Combat. Yea, CC is stronger, but drain punch provides longetivity and doesn't have defense drops. I also think that Ice Punch > Skill Swap. Even if you manage to Skill Swap Mega-Eye, you can't stay on it (and you shouldn't), as your other two moves can't touch it. It also helps your Bisharp with mons such as Hippo, Chomp, Lando-T, and so on.
I don't think that Chomp + Lando-T is a good idea. They have the same typing, and double-dancing Lando-T just isn't as good anymore because it finds it hard to set up with things such as Latios, Keldeo, Weavile, Azu, and so on. For this reason, you should pick just one. If you're sticking with Chomp, choose Toxic>Endure. Endure really has little to no use and leaves Chomp vulnerable to other walls, as it has no way of crippling them. If you prefer Lando-T, you should take advantage of its fantastic bulk + intimidate, which lets you check physical attackers, especially Talonflame, which beats your main offensive core.
Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock

What exactly is the Azu spread? You don't really need to speed creep with it. You should change this to 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe, which lets you outspeed Clef and Sylveon. Also, I'm a huge fan of the CB set, but your team struggles immensely with the likes of Scarf Keldeo, Tornadus-T, Thundurus, and Raikou/Manectric. For this reason, I think you should try running Assault Vest. Not only does it let you survive a hit from the electric types and check Keldeo better, but you already have two hard physical hitters in Gallade/Bisharp.
I would advise running T-Wave>Focus Blast on Thundy. I know it's a sweeper, but like you mentioned, your team lacks speed. Focus Blast hits a short list of mons that +2 Thunderbolt doesn't dent, such as Ferro, but you have Superpower on Azu and a Gallade.
To fill in your empty mon spot, you need a way to remove hazards. You also lack a special wall, and most of your team is destroyed by hard hitting special attackers. Although I'm not a huge fan, the only mon that comes to mind that can defog hazards and check those fast electric types that bother your team is Mew.
Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SpD / 32 Spe
Careful Nature
- Defog
- Soft-Boiled
- Will-O-Wisp/Taunt
- Ice Beam
This set lets you clear hazards, and Ice Beam is chosen because it helps you vs. Lando-T, Gliscor, and Chomp. The third move is your choice; WoW helps cripple physical attackers, but you might find Taunt better to break stall and pokemon that might be annoying to your team, such as Ferro.
I hope the suggestions helped. I didn't try to change your team a lot, but I tried making a good start. I would also recommend for another special attacker (if you can somehow fit it in there) or a mon such as Heatran, which is good for your team (beats Skarm for your core, deals with Ferro, can be used offensively/defensively, etc..), but I couldn't find a way to fit it in without changing the team. Good luck as you get into competitive!
