Rules​
  • Follow all rules listed here.
  • Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for me to make decisions for activity calls when I can actually see what went down with scheduling.
  • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to me or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.
  • Substitutions may be made after a week has started. When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.
  • If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it may be subject to an activity call.
  • It is recommended to play all games on SmogTours as this has all the formats included and games can be recreated in case of unseen circumstances. However, Games can be played on the Pokémon Showdown main server if both players agree. The result between players may be decided in a best-of-one by default.
  • Replays are mandatory. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later.
  • Managers: Please send me your lineups in the same format that I used to post pairings. It makes it much easier to post future rounds more quickly.

ADV OU: violet river vs Zpanther - Very close matchup, Zpanther lowkey has turned into a machine, but River just has more high level results. I'm interested to see team choices here by both.

ADV OU: Pajama Sam vs DepressionCherry - For those who don't know, Pajama Sam is infamous user Padeli who has reached pretty super heights on ladder but has no tournament experience to speak of other than a brief and better off forgotten foray into Mushi League. He is clearly very smart and can click at a high enough level, but he has been very publicly rigid in how he views teams in a way that works just fine for ladder, but can be punished by a good tournament player. We will see how he views tournament play and how he decides to go about team selection here. For now, I'm going to bold DepressionCherry who is a solid up-and-comer who is not afraid to build their own unique takes on things.

ADV OU: Amaranth vs ima - Battle of two non-mainers. I've seen Amaranth play ADV more than I've seen ima, so I'm giving him the bold.

ADV OU: Mikon vs SamuelBest - I am very possibly just ignorant, but not gonna lie I don't know who Mikon is.

ADV OU BO3: Conflict vs Endill - Badass matchup here. Pretty 50/50, but I'll give the bold to Endill just because he’s been playing more high level ADV lately.

ADV OU: eternallywandering vs Sinodin - I don't know much about Sinodin, but apparently they've been putting up some decent results lately. I do know eternallywandering as a pretty long time Mushi Leaguer who has done very solidly there. I'll give him the bold because people who do well in Mushi often end up doing well here.

ADV OU: Caloom vs WraxiusGaming - Wraxius is solid, but Caloom just has reached much higher heights. Admittedly, and I don't think Caloom would be upset at me saying, it has been a while since those heights and I think he also would freely admit he simply has not tried as hard when he has played of late but still I rate this guy's mind very highly.

ADV OU: isnialan vs Forte - Two good up-and-comers here. Will give bold to Forte just because I've seen more of him.

ADV OU: scally_wagon vs Rambode - scally_wagon is another user I'm sorry to say I really just don't know.

ADV OU BO3: NoName6293 vs Zinc - Maybe kind of an upset pick here? Zinc is a very clean player, but I've always been impressed with NoName whenever I've seen him in ADV. I don't know who is supporting, but if he has good support he'll be a huge threat.

ADV OU: Pak vs Vileman - This victory goes out to Cade Cunningham.

ADV OU: Sachumberto vs Genexys - Genexys is one of the more impressive and quick risers we've seen of late in ADV. He might need to spread his wings on team choices and building refinement in a tour like this, but as a clicker he's already pretty dang good.

ADV OU: pkThunderbolt vs Void - Haven't seen Leech play in a pretty long time, but he was quite solid in his day and used his own stuff. I expect he'll bring something kind of weird here and throw Void off.

ADV OU: Rubyblood vs Eden - Don't think I've ever seen Rubyblood in ADV. Wouldn't be shocked if he pulls off a win, but Eden has a long and storied track record in this tier so gotta give him the bold here in week 1.

ADV OU BO3: pixie909 vs Prinz - Blaise has cemented herself as one of ADV's top players. As long as she is focused, she should win here.

ADV OU: Siglut vs robjr - Siglut seems to not play much these days, but always makes the time to come out for this tour and go super positive, so I'm gonna trust his track record.

ADV OU: Figull400 vs Sato07 - This is a highlight matchup for me. Two players who both seem to have made big jumps in the past ~6 months. I'll give a very slight edge to Figull.

ADV OU: DarthTyros vs xtinaxendrix - Wow. Teacher vs student vibes. Xtina seems like she too is someone who has improved lately, but not gonna lie whenever I see Tyros play he wins.

ADV OU: Buzzed27 vs Janis105 - Janis beat Buzzed when they played for Mushi League, so I'll give him the edge here.

ADV OU BO3: Kristyl vs Spreek - Spreek has become a true top level player and I think will have no problem holding his own in the vaunted BO3 slot, but having to start out against Kristyl is tough. I know she only plays a few ADV tours per year, but I think she's probably a top 10 ADVer on merit.

Remains to be seen if I will write predicts for the tier weekly but given that ADV Ubers doesn't always get the proper spotlight/understanding it should, I'll write a quick blurb about the other matchups here. Bolds aren't meant to be taken as gospel, just more of an excuse to write something. Picking predictions for any other tier would just be throwing darts at a board and I try not to yap about things I don't feel at least OK defending.

ADV Ubers: gostop vs Just_Leo: Leo's interest in the tier over the last year has been very cool to see through the thread he's made and I find it interesting when people actually try to build their opinions from first principles rather than simply looking at what the best players use and call it a day. But I like gostop's ability/willingness to load a various amount of teams(I recognize a few specific teams from some high level ADVers who aren't in this tour, unfortunately) and combined with more overall experience in the tier, I think that versatility means he probably has advantage when you factor that in.

ADV Ubers: mitana vs. Li Xiao Long:

This is probably the highlight matchup not just of the entire week but the entire pool. Mitana needs zero introduction to the ADV community, serving as an active player in ADVPL for a number of years now. But what you might not also know is he was a former manager of UPL for the Void Villains, is one of the few people that actually plays and builds for the tier even when it's not "in-season"(aka he plays/builds/discusses even when tournaments aren't held for it) and is also fairly responsible for mentoring/helping out some newer names to the tier - including myself back in the day, which was instrumental in giving me a foundational presence of the tier. He is, for my money, the strongest overall player in the entire pool.

Li Xiao Long is less known by the ADV community but deserves quite a bit of respect; I was happy to see he got the proper pricing he deserved in the auction - he'll tell you it's an overpay, but seeing how the draft shook out, anyone who knows ADV Ubers seriously would be crazy to call him anything less than #2 for this specific pool when he's locked in. Mostly a Gens 3-5 Ubers main, LXL managed to make it to the finals of both ADV Ubers individuals he entered; had he entered last year I suspect he would've had very good odds of doing the same if not winning it entirely. The biggest factor against him can be how motivated he is at times - he would easily have won multiple individuals by now if he was a consistent tour presence, in my opinion - but he's here now and that's what matters. Considering it's both week 1 AND vs. an incredibly talented player, I have zero doubt Li will take this very, very seriously.

I think the last time they've formally faced off was in the 2023 ADV Ubers Spotlight tournament for the finals, where both had 4-0 records into a mitana victory. I hate having to choose between two good players... but I have to bold mitana here out of consistency if you are going to force me to. It could go either way as the two have played hundreds of friendlies and they each know the other's style well. This is appointment viewing; I'm not watching this as a player/competitor, but as a fan.

ADV Ubers: Inspirited vs. Lhions -

Paradoxically after writing about how this would be a spotlight/preview into the other matches, I actually have the least to say here as Inspirited was before my time as a player of this format and then only made a return in like... late 2024-2025 when I took a break from the tier at large. I have not seen much of Inspirited in this tier but I have heard nothing but good things, and Lhions and I haven't crossed paths as I haven't entered many of the cups/opens for this tier. Bolding either feels unfair here when I've seen so few games from either despite knowing their tour history, sorry.

ADV Ubers: CyberOdin vs. LHF -

Obviously little reason to talk about how I plan to prepare for this matchup publicly but will instead use this to say I DM'd you my disc as you asked for so we can schedule, though I'm not gonna be 100% sure of my availability until tomorrow(Tuesday) we will definitely get it done. I also want to thank Chungler/JoJ for taking a chance on me in the slot when a play could've been made for a bigger/more reputable name. Let's Have Fun.

One more thing: Ajencis/A Quythulug is a great mind for this tier and I have to assume that the name change is what made them slip by unannounced in this pool. The stall master will surely return next year for ADVPL, or simply farm ADVLTL.
