Rules

• Follow all rules listed here.
• Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for me to make decisions for activity calls when I can actually see what went down with scheduling.
• If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to me or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.
• Substitutions may be made after a week has started. When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.
• If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it may be subject to an activity call.
• It is recommended to play all games on SmogTours as this has all the formats included and games can be recreated in case of unseen circumstances. However, Games can be played on the Pokémon Showdown main server if both players agree. The result between players may be decided in a best-of-one by default.
• Replays are mandatory. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later.
• Managers: Please send me your lineups in the same format that I used to post pairings. It makes it much easier to post future rounds more quickly.

Excuse me but your regularly scheduled analysis will have to wait a minute because the literal entire reason I'm here just dropped and I want to talk about it

Despite both LXL and I having a comically rough, quasi unplayable week two RNG-wise and both being 0-2 on the spreadsheet(terrible culture in general unfortunately, the games, in any tier, are always what tell the story) this has potential to be the highlight matchup of the week, for one reason and one reason only. LXL and I know pretty much entirely how the other thinks for this tier, including both serious team compositions and shitposts alike. Way too many hours of us tossing ideas, game reviews etc etc back and forth and discussing ideas in the builder(read: me pushing ideas farther than they should ever have gone), and at least hundreds of friendlies over the years.

I didn't ever have much of a reason to sign up for a ADV Ubers teamtour since I was always kinda content to just help support stuff if asked, but when Li told me he signed up on a whim, I didn't really have a choice. We've played too many games to not get to face each other in a tournament setting at least once during our time on the site.

Will one, or both of us, meme in the builder like he once did to me with Substitute Psych Up Salac Berry Lugia in 2023 when I was new to the tier? Will I farm him with something absolutely stupid like I've done to him a bunch of times on the ADV Ubers ladder two months ago? Or have we both been gaslighting the other the last two weeks in preparation for this and we each plan to run a very standard 6 out of respect for the seriousness of this game?

I don't know, and that's awesome! I've always wanted to have a game vs a friend like this where there's real stakes, and I couldn't have asked for anything more than what I'm getting this week. Win or lose, I don't care if RNG benefits me or screws me, I will have a blast playing this game and I hope the same is true for him. I've enjoyed being in my teamcord and I've learned a lot from the OUers just by being there, but this is literally the reason I am here and I cannot wait for the actual game.

Actually, the real question: Will Li Xiao Long be too addicted to Hitman to play our match? This might actually be the most likely outcome.

Alright, back to normal stuff.

I originally had a super long rant about what the uptick in usage means for the tier(I used it week 1, iirc Leo, Mitana and Inspirited all used it week 2), but considering I'm actually tied to a team, that might be something better served for a post tour debrief much as I hate to say it. However, I'm happy that people are experimenting more with the mon in the builder, as it offers some unique qualities some other pokemon simply cannot. I've been a long time fan of the mon, but there are some glaring weaknesses to the mon as well that astute eyes will pick up on. I'll give you a hint - every single Tyranitar team brought this tour has at least two things in common, even if the TTar sets were different.

ADV Ubers: gostop vs mitana : it's hard for me to ever consider bolding against mitana in this pool and I don't think I will without good reason, especially after what I considered an incredibly dominant performance vs Inspirited last week. In the battle of Tyranitars it felt pretty inevitable that sun TTar was going to beat rain TTar, especially because Kyogre + Forre is less equipped to handle Tyranitar than Groudon + Skarmory was. The Focus Punch crit from Mitana's Tar on Ogre only accelerated what I think was an inevitable victory, given the gameplay loop that occurred there - every time Forre came in on Mitana's Blissey, it always resulted in a Seismic Toss ---> Tyranitar switch, and Inspirited did not have the tools to stop that combined with the ever looming threat of Groudon. But Gostop isn't necessarily a slouch though, and it shouldn't be taken to look down on his play at all. It's a little unfortunate that we didn't get to see a cleaner game between him and LXL in week 2; the ice beam crit turn 3 on Latias was rough and robbed us of what was looking to be a fun game.

ADV Ubers: Lhions vs. ZPanther: This is not a bold I am making with any concrete claim that one player is better than the other. I just genuinely don't know if Zpanther has played this tier much before in a serious setting, but given his fundamental understanding of OU I can't imagine that it will be a massively big jump for him to be in fighting shape this week. ADV Ubers is a tier where rng can make matchups turn on a dime, but I do think that knowing how to respond to those volatile RNG turns is critical, and that might be where Lhions has an advantage over Zpanther. Between him and Leo I'm sure there will be a serviceable team ready this week, but my question - and big interest - is how he will be ready to handle the volatility of the tier. Lhions has played this tier more, so I give him a slight edge based on that in the actual game, but what teams we will see remains a mystery. This is probably the matchup I'm most interested in just to see Zpanther's approach to the game.

ADV Ubers: Inspirited vs. CyberOdin: The guy just has aura man idk what to tell you. I might be his biggest fan on the website and I'm not joking.

Last week's predicts: 3/3 PU; 0/3 LC
ADV PU: Plague vs DD Joe (guessed Plague, W) - plague won despite letting their minun get boomed early on and having to deal with a lot of pretty miserable hax including a spike-denying crit. im still rather new to this tier so idk how standard these sets are but the protect defcurl resttalk shuckle feels kinda gross lmfao and ice beam licki is cool to avoid being trapped by pinch + it lured a graveler that otherwise could have been a pain. pretty convincing display here.

ADV LC: Tack vs PoseidonWrath (guessed Tack, L) - I went for the upset here and it didn't pay off. turn 1 is hilarious because normally lead staryu runs wfall to put bull into range of hydro without popping sitrus but it ends up doing over 50% and bull ends up being itemless thief and totally thwarts the sequence. I really did not like tack choosing to revenge bull with kid of all mons cuz it got trapped so early and left them much weaker to abra, but it didnt even really matter cuz wrath's voltorb just went crazy with thief + hp grass and put him really ahead. i liked tack's team more this week and the t1 felt pretty odd ev/building-wise from wrath since normally bull is quite spdef but it worked out and if that was intentional then props to him. he also played pretty solid.

ADV PU: Metallica126 vs Aurist (guessed Metallica126, W) - not too too much to talk about here cuz metallica found the world's first god vibrava mu and also t20/21 were pretty funny. good sequencing from metallica in an already great mu.

ADV LC: Souji/Akumu vs Celdanami (guessed Celdanami, L) - this one felt pretty sloppy from celd, saccing staryu immediately to wail for basically no value was really poor and it snowballed into not having a wail spout switch-in midgame which is also a builder issue which led to saccing onix to trade only to lose ur only physdef wall apparently and immediately losing to bagon. i like bagon spikes from souji/akumu, i think they played pretty straightforward and celd just didnt play and build particularly well this week.

ADV PU: Monai vs THE_CHUNGLER (guessed THE_CHUNGLER, W) - im so sick of ou slop i fucking hate seeing raikou registeel endpert ddmence everywhere, adv pu slop is where its at. deeply unfortunate game for monai with all the crits and misses and early shed skin procs but that's the price you pay for tormenting cat 1. chungler has not been afraid to bring cool shit so far which hes more than capable of piloting well so im anticipating this week too.

ADV LC Hacker vs Shing (guessed Shing, L) - pretty unfortunate game for shing with both of his 20 speed elecs getting haxxed vs hacker's fastest mon 19 team. i think this game could have gone quite differently if not for that stuff.

i will simply blame bad luck that i went 0/3 on lc predicts, the pu predicts were pretty safe tho i think



This week's predicts
ADV PU: Metallica126 vs Bugsileus - forgive my lack of ball knowledge but i have no idea what bugsileus is doing in PU. metallica is a solid pilot and actively builds new stuff, even if he overcooks as long as its not egregious i imagine he wins this one

ADV LC: Souji/Akumu vs Hacker - i think souji/akumu is more likely to bring a better team but hacker has been lucky as shit and has more outplay potential in-game afaik. hacker is accumulating negative karma tho, so i think this one could b close

ADV PU: THE_CHUNGLER vs DD Joe - sorry joe but chungler is another just really solid opp and joe's just not doing hot rn in this tier. chungy might be a bit shaken up after his pucl finals game (sorry) but i think he's still got this one especially since there's much less pressure here.

ADV LC: Shing vs PoseidonWrath - i think this should be a really good one, 2-0 player whos had pretty solid game so far even if im not like in LOVE with his teams vs somehow 0-2 shing. im having a hard time bolding either which i guess is pretty impressive for wrath. shing did have a pretty bad cold streak in advltl and has been on and off in lccl in terms of avail and id imagine also motivation but im hoping that he can get it together sooner than later. i will say tho i think shing will bring something more solid which makes me wanna bold him for reasons other than the forboding potential 0-3 record.

ADV PU: TyCarter vs Aurist - aurist also has to break their cold streak too at some point and i think it's possible vs ty even tho ty is solid in his own right and id probably bold him in most other circumstances. i can totally see a world where ty wins again. out of all the pu games besides ours i think im most interested in this one.

ADV LC: Alder ST vs Celdanami - alder is imo just overall more solid than celd in terms of buidling and play, i can see a celd upset happening since he does sometimes have that dawg in him but last week was not particularly inspiring. that said tho this game should be quite good i think as long as celd doesnt bring something that gets steamrolled.



I hope Kollin7 will do another amazing OU writeup but I just wanted to highlight some OU games I'm excited to see personally, no predicts or anything really.

ADV OU: Rambode vs mint yerb - two up-and-comers with Rambode probably being more proven in terms of on-site tours but I think this one has a lot of potential to be great, esp with mint yerb coming in as a sub last week and having the tailwind of winning from that spot fresh off the bench and now finding himself on the starting lu. speaking of starting lu, and this isn't really related to this game specifically, holy shit the raikous changed like 1 billion slots. obv some things had to change after the 0-2-0 start but theres a complete ou overhaul and a couple of low tier shuffles too. really intrigued to see how this pans out since momentum kinda has to reverse here for the raikous or playoffs will need a cinderella run to be achieved.

ADV OU BO3: zinc vs Endill - i have 0 clue how much effort gets put in here, if i had to guess zinc cares more because endill probably wants to take it a bit easy with stuff going on that i hope gets resolved well but both of these guys just finished their spl seasons after their teams faced off in finals (it was robjr vs endill fwiw but zinc was def involved af in prep) and even tho the winner of that much more stressful tour was decided id imagine theres still a bit of a rivalry here.

ADV OU: Sato07 vs Genexys - two quite pricey big name up-and-coming players who have had strong recent results face off here. sato currently is on a tear in seasonal and i think has looked quite damn strong in game but i feel like genexys feels like he has something to prove here especially after the past 2 weeks being pretty scuffed. rooting for genexys to lock in here vs the tall wall that sato is, esp with confidence perhaps being on the line here.

ADV OU: Scally_Wagon vs Buzzed27 - i think this one will be pretty interesting because both of these guys are 0-2 and these kinds of games are always really weird in terms of mental cuz both players will see the other as a stepping stone to get back on pace and if one loses then its kinda rlly dire. buzzed has more on the line here as a selfbuy manager. hoping for a quality tryhard game here.
