god, i miss when they sounded like that. i remember seeing them at their first canadian show ever, and i was blown the fuck away. they quickly became my favourite band ever.
in my opinion, tom gabel has the greatest, most powerful voice of any singer around. its a shame he opts not to use it to its fullest potential nowadays.
i really could go on and on about how much i love what this band used to be, but i doubt you wanna read paragraph after paragraph of the crazed ramblings of a fanboy. am! have changed my life in a way no other band has, and im sure all of you have your bands like that.
its unfortunate what theyve become, and i will be the first to say that i absolutely abhor their new music. fortunately, unlike every folk-punking plan-it-xer (plan-it-x was against me!'s original label and is full of DIY punk bands that jump at anyone who 'sells out' [check out their forums if you want to shed a tear]), i dont hate _them_. because, as i siad, they touched me in a way no other band has, and thats enough for me to still respect them.
kinda similar to my plan-it-x point, theyre definitely one of the most actively watched bands (by their 'fans'), as everyone loves to shit on them for everything they do, most likely because the band itself started out so small; tom gabel screaming his fucking guts out over his acoustic guitar, playing at laundromats and wherever else he could. that, my friends, is 'tru punx'.

this is their album reinventing axl rose, which is their first full length. amazing folk punk goodness. this was their first use of electric guitar, but it still flows so beautifully. top 4 on the album, imo, would be jordan's first choice, reinventing axl rose, walking is still honest, and pints of guiness make you strong. overall, and absolutely brilliant album.
thats the only good album they have on albumbase, sadly. the other ones it has available for download are new wave and searching for a former clarity, which are their two newest albums. download them if you want, but dont say i didnt warn you about how fuck-awful they are (barring the song 'joy' off of the latter of the two).

all in all, everyone, against me has made me the person i am today. plain and simple. seeing them live is just... beyond words. youre sweating bullets, youre screaming so hard your voice is completely gone, and youre pressed up against tons of other sweaty people, but its STILL the best thing you could ever ask for. against me! was folk punk before it became cool and pretentious. i hope they touch you in a way similar to how they touched me.
