Alcoholics Anonymous Core

Hello all, while playing a mojority of UU, and RU I thought I'd try NU and have enjoyed it thoroughly. I have made a nice balanced team, although I do find myself lacking something... I don't know what it is, but I feel I am missing something important in this team so I would appreciate some feed back if at all possible :)... Well lets start this shit then!
Peaked 1702 (Rank 74 on Show down and climbing. http://gyazo.com/81384cfd568b0f0614ae14143e70705e )

Dem Rockz (Golem) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Sucker Punch

First we have my lead Golem, Golem in my opinion is the best lead in NU, with access to Priority in Sucker Punch I really have nothing to worry about Kadabra who essentially shits all over my team. Golem also has a decent attack stat, so I can essentially set up rocks than hurt any pokemon that wants to come in, barring physical Amoonguss, and Alomololololola. There has been many a battle where Golem has saved my ass, either because of rocks, or because I was able to get rid of a huge ass threat.

Star you ;D (Staryu) @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt

Next we have Staryu, you might be saying DA FUQ IS THIS SHIT HERE!? I used to have Armaldo here, but he was too slow. When Cryogonal moved up to RU it got rid of pretty much the only 'fast' spinner in NU. While Armaldo admittedly was a good spinner the only problem was he was TOO slow for my taste, and he possibly has the worst case of 'four move syndrome' I could never find myself being satisfied with his moves. So one day I thought I'd try Staryu all though he stats look pitiful, with only base 85 speed, and 70 attack she is not all that good, BUT she is decently fast in the NU tier. And thats all I really need from her. FLCL Suggested Hydro Pump and it has been working like a charm :)

>Dragonite (Charizard) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Air Slash
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]

FLCL suggested Scarfed Charizard, he still hits like a truck even without specs, and with this I don't have to worry about Scarfed Sawk, scarfed Pinsir, and many many other threats. The choice scarf really has decreased my need for predictions since I can fire off a fire blast and not worry about switching out because of Over Heat.

Gardevoir @ Leftovers
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Wish
- Heal Bell
- Will-O-Wisp
- Psychic

This slot used to be Articuno But WhiteDMist suggested this set, and honestly I haven't looked back. The ability to come in on Amoonguss and trace Regenerator and then scare it off with psychic really is priceless.

Alocoholics (Amoonguss) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Spore
- Synthesis

Honestly, what team doesn't have Amoonguss? Sludge bomb for Sawsbucks who want to sip my sap ;D. Giga Drain for recovery, and reliable STAB move. Spore.... Obvious. Synthesis maybe the ONLY move that sets my Amoonguss apart from others who Use Stun Spore, I actually use Synthesis because sometimes I need to recover more than Giga Drain can give me. It helps me against Stall Miltanks, and many other Physical Stall/Offensive pokemon.

H4X0R (Absol) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Super Luck
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Night Slash
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower

FLCL suggested pursuit over swords dance and it has worked out very well, while I had SD I thought I should use it while usually letting my opponent switch in an appropriate switch, now with pursuit no Pyshic type is safe. I am using Absol over Skuntank because of Super Power, my team needed a strong fighting type move and a super power from Absol covers that :)

Variants of Gorebyss could certainly give this team trouble since Absol does not OHKO it with Sucker Punch and is beaten handily by the Substitute set. Your only Pokemon capable of taking a hit from it lacks a reliable way of taking it down, meaning it will always threaten your team if it manages to set up. To combat this, I suggest running Choice Scarf Charizard over your current set. This allows you to revenge kill Gorebyss with ease as long as it's not under a Substitute. It will also help with other fast threats such as Tauros and Cinccino which can trouble your team if Amoonguss is down. Also, a set of Fire Blast / Air Slash / Focus Blast / Hidden Power Grass is much more effective than your current one, since it provides the coverage needed to hit Water and Rock types that are common in the tier.

Swords Dance Absol isn't really effective in this metagame since Absol has a hard time setting up on most common Pokemon. This is probably one of the reasons why you find it underwhelming. I suggest running a Four Attack Set with Pursuit over Swords Dance to catch Musharnas and Duosions switching out and be able to do damage to the opponent's team immediately.

Lastly, Staryu is really weak, so it should be using Hydro Pump to have a chance to OHKO spin blockers such as Haunter and Golurk while being able to 3HKO Misdreavus.

Summary of changes:

Charizard —> Choice Scarf set
Different moveset on Charizard
Absol —>Four Attack Pursuit set
Surf —> Hydro Pump on Staryu

Hey I got your PM! I actually remember facing you. (I'd also like to apologize for my wi-fi suddenly disconnecting, thus ending our battle halfway through). Your team definitely stood out, especially due to the double 4x Rock weak mons and Staryu (mostly the latter).

FLCL is right, a Scarf Charizard would be superior for your team than a Specs variant. You're otherwise severely lacking in the Speed department. Rotom-F becomes a much more containable threat as well. In fact, tbh FLCL already gave you all the important suggestions for your team.

The only real suggestion I can give you (other than a possible change in Rapid Spinner/Anti-lead) is to replace your cleric. Articuno is one of my own personal favorite mons, but I don't see the point of exacerbating your 4x weakness to Stealth Rocks. One is more than enough for a team. I'd suggest Support Gardevoir as a possible replacement. It has Trace for utility and to handle opposing weather, excellent Special bulk, and a higher base Sp Atk stat to work off of. Will-o-Wisp and an additional Fighting resistance also provides your team with some excellent support, while being quite capable of using Heal Bell for your team.

Changes:

FLCL's stuff
Gardevoir>Articuno ( </3 )

It's 1 am for me, so I'll end this rate now. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know later. GOod luck and I hope I helped! :pimp:
