Monotype Alolan Raichu (Electric)

[OVERVIEW]

Electric
========

Alolan Raichu is one of the best revenge killers and late-game cleaners for Electric teams thanks to its good Speed tier coupled with Surge Surfer, letting it handle threats like Sand Rush Excadrill, Swift Swim Kingdra, and Dragapult in Electric Terrain. It has fantastic coverage options in Psychic to nail Poison-types such as Amoonguss, Dragalge, and Nidoking, Grass Knot to defeat Water-types that are immune to Rising Voltage like Gastrodon, Swampert, and Seismitoad, and Focus Blast for troublesome Dark- and Steel-types like Hydreigon, Tyranitar, and Ferrothorn. However, Alolan Raichu's underwhelming Special Attack makes it unable to OHKO walls like Tyranitar in sand, Heatran, and Ferrothorn, even with a Life Orb. Outside of Electric Terrain, Alolan Raichu is outsped by many threats like Spectrier, Choice Scarf Blacephalon, and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele. Alolan Raichu's very poor bulk makes it unable to come into attacks freely while making it susceptible to priority users like Urshifu-R, Crawdaunt, Dragonite, and Rillaboom.

[SET COMMENTS]
Electric Terrain-boosted Rising Voltage hits foes such as Aegislash, Drapion, and Galarian Corsola for great damage. Psychic nails Poison-types such as Amoonguss, Dragalge, and Nidoking and hits Electric-resistant foes like Dragapult, Landorus-T, and Thundurus-T for good damage. Focus Blast heavily damages Dark-, Steel-, and Ice-types such as Zarude, Tyranitar, Excadrill, Ferrothorn, and Kyurem. Knock Off is useful for removing Galarian Slowking's Assault Vest, making it much easier to deal with for Electric teams. Grass Knot can be used over Knock Off to super effectively hit Water-types that are immune to Rising Voltage such as Swampert, Gastrodon, and Seismitoad and threaten Ground-types like Hippowdon. Nasty Plot can be used over Knock Off or Grass Knot to make Alolan Raichu a fearsome setup sweeper, taking advantage of Pokemon it forces out such as Pelipper and Amoonguss. However, replacing Grass Knot makes Alolan Raichu less effective in the Water and Ground matchups. Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature lets Alolan Raichu outspeed foes like Hydreigon, Volcarona, and Garchomp outside of Electric Terrain.

Because of Alolan Raichu's mediocre bulk, it appreciates Volt Switch support from teammates like Tapu Koko, Zapdos, and Rotom-W to bring it in safely. Tapu Koko is needed to set Electric Terrain for Alolan Raichu, letting it outspeed extremely fast threats thanks to Surge Surfer. Additionally, Tapu Koko can take on Dragon-types that Alolan Raichu struggles with, like Latias and Latios, thanks to its Dragon immunity and Dazzling Gleam and weaken shared checks such as Galarian Slowking, which Alolan Raichu can capitalize on in the late-game. Zeraora is a fantastic physical wallbreaker, pressuring troublesome specially defensive walls like Blissey and Galarian Slowking. In return, Alolan Raichu can deal with threatening physical walls such as Hippowdon, Gastrodon, and Amoonguss. Choice Specs Zapdos is useful to heavily pressure types like Grass, Ground, and Dragon thanks to its powerful Hurricane, letting it beat foes like Rillaboom, Tapu Bulu, and Garchomp for Alolan Raichu. Rotom-W can remove entry hazards with Defog and deal with foes like Cinderace, Blacephalon, and Barraskewda thanks to its typing. Magnezone's Steel typing lets it handle threats like Dragon Dance Dragapult, Nihilego, and Latias with ease while trapping and taking on problematic Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Excadrill with its Air Balloon set.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Specially defensive walls such as Galarian Slowking, Blissey, and Celebi tank multiple attacks from Alolan Raichu and threaten it back with their moves. Galarian Slowking 2HKOes Alolan Raichu with Sludge Bomb, Blissey can wear it down with Seismic Toss, and Celebi can wear it down with Giga Drain. However, Galarian Slowking and Blissey have to be careful of the rare Psyshock.

**Residual Damage**: Residual damage from Life Orb, entry hazards, and Toxic poison wear down Alolan Raichu.

**Electric-resistant Pokemon**: Since Alolan Raichu relies on Rising Voltage to sweep teams, Electric-resistant Pokemon such as Latias, Latios, and Tapu Bulu are huge threats to it.

**Revenge Killers**: Revenge killers such as Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan, Choice Scarf Excadrill, and Barraskewda outspeed and OHKO Alolan Raichu if Electric Terrain is not active. Because Alolan Raichu is extremely frail, priority users such as Urshifu-R, Crawdaunt, Dragonite, and Rillaboom can also take it out with no problem. Rillaboom is especially threatening to Alolan Raichu, since it disrupts Electric Terrain.

[Knock Off is really good to hit stuff like Galarian Slowking, Latios, and Dragapult. Nasty Plot causes Alolan Raichu to take an attack and that attack is usually from like a defensive Pokemon lets say Toxapex's Scald for example. The Life Orb damage and possible Scald burn is essentially just wearing down Alolan Raichu. If Alolan Raichu isn't using Knock Off in the key matchup: Poison, Galarian Slowking will just eat a +2 Rising Voltage from full and beat the rest of the team with its defensive core. Your standard SS Monotype ladder player isn't using this but a better set has been solved and it should reflect here ;w;]

[SET COMMENTS]
* Rising Voltage's power is boosted to significant levels in Electric Terrain, hitting foes that don't resist it, such as Aegislash, Drapion, and Galarian Corsola, for great damage.
* Psychic nails Poison-types such as Amoonguss, Dragalge, and Nidoking. Additionally, it hits Electric-resistant foes like Dragapult, Landorus-T, and Thundurus-T for good damage.

* Knock Off
* Grass Knot hits Water-types that are immune to Rising Voltage, such as Swampert, Gastrodon, and Seismitoad, super effectively. [This also targets base Ground-types like Hippowdon and Mamoswine ;w;]
* Nasty Plot can be used over Grass Knot to make Alolan Raichu a fearsome setup sweeper, taking advantage of Pokemon that it can force out such as Pelipper and Amoonguss. However, replacing Grass Knot makes Alolan Raichu less effective in the Water and Ground matchups.
* Focus Blast heavily damages Dark-, Steel-, and Ice-types such as Zarude, Tyranitar, Excadrill, Ferrothorn, and Kyurem.
* Life Orb is the preferred item, as it increases Alolan Raichu's otherwise underwhelming damage output.
* Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature lets Alolan Raichu outspeed foes like Hydreigon, Volcarona, and Garchomp outside of Electric Terrain.

[Remove all Regieleki mentions. I really don't like how its mentioned over the B ranks, not saying they warrant a mention but like...its really hard to justify on good teams. Its a cheese mon]
* Because of Alolan Raichu's mediocre bulk, it appreciates Volt Switch support from teammates like Tapu Koko, Zapdos, Rotom-W, and Regieleki to bring it in safely. - regi
* Tapu Koko is needed in order to set Electric Terrain for Alolan Raichu, letting it outspeed extremely fast threats thanks to its Surge Surfer. Additionally, Tapu Koko can take on Dragon-types that Alolan Raichu struggles with, like Latias and Latios, thanks to its part Fairy typing Dragon Immunity and Dazzling Gleam.
* Zeraora is a fantastic physical wallbreaker, pressuring troublesome specially defensive walls to Alolan Raichu like Blissey and Galarian Slowking. In return, Alolan Raichu can deal with threatening physical walls to Zeraora such as Hippowdon, Gastrodon, and Amoonguss thanks to Grass Knot and Paychic.
* Choice Specs Zapdos is useful to deal with Grass-types that heavily threaten Alolan Raichu like Rillaboom, Tapu Lele, and Celebi. [Tapu lele isn't a Grass-types] Additionally, it can overwhelm Ground-types like Swampert and Gastrodon thanks to its powerful Hurricane, which Alolan Raichu struggles against if it forgoes Grass Knot. [It can overwhelm Dragon-types too]
* Rotom-W can remove entry hazards that wear down Alolan Raichu throughout the battle, like Stealth Rock and Spikes, thanks to Defog. Additionally, it provides a useful resistance to Fire and Water, dealing with foes like Cinderace, Blacephalon, and Barraskewda.
* Magnezone - would rather focus on how magnezones typing is useful for alolachu since its frail
* Regieleki benefits a ton from Alolan Raichu taking on Ground-types like Hippowdon, Swampert, and Seismitoad with Grass Knot, while weakening Landorus-T with Psychic. Additionally, Regieleki is able to 2HKO walls like Blissey, Celebi, and Galarian Slowking thanks to its extremely powerful Rising Voltage under Electric Terrain.

**Residual Damage**: Life Orb wears down Alolan Raichu as it attacks during a match, making it even more vulnerable to attacks. It is also very weak to entry hazards such as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes, as they deal damage to Alolan Raichu every time it switches in. Toxic is also a problem for Alolan Raichu, putting it on a timer.

Electric

Psyshock can be used over Psychic to pressure switch-ins like Blissey and Galarian Slowking and OHKO Nihilego.

Checks and Counters
===================

Type One Electric
--------
**Specially Defensive Walls**: Specially defensive walls such as Galarian Slowking, Blissey, and Celebi tank multiple attacks from Alolan Raichu and threaten it back with their moves.
