Use: This set focuses on Wish passing. Alomomla's humongous hp stat and decent physical defense makes it a pretty solid physical tank. It is an incredible candidate for wish passing because it heals itself as it switches out with Regenerator and passes wish to it's teammates. It's natural bulk paired up with Wish and Protect with leftovers and Regenerator heals this mon reliably and helps it to reliably wish pass. With the correct play it can reliably handle what would be dangerous sweepers like ZardX and Blaziken. It also is a great swap in on the number 1 Pokemon of the metagame LandoT as well as Scor. It also counters Excadrill on Sand which is crucial. Alomomola unlike its fellow Wish Passers Blissey and Clefable doesn't rely on Protect for self recovery. You can also go with max Sp Def and heavy Def investment to make it a mixed tank if you want to.
It's primary weaknesses and how they can be solved:
1. Status
Status is the best way to counter this Pokemon as it cant heal status itself with this set and refresh is just not worth it. It's other moves are important for it's gameplay and you probably wont be seeing Refresh Alomomola a lot due the importance of it's other moves which it cannot replace Refresh with. This makes it easy to toxic stall Alomomola and burn can cancel out its leftovers recovery.
This can be solved by running a Pokemon with Heal Bell or Aromatherapy or simply just by using Refresh for the last slot if you don't want the previous options.
2. Grass Types Alomomola does not enjoy the presence of any grass types in the tier. Ferrothorn never loses to Alomomola 1v1 as it is a part steel type therefore it can't get toxic stalled, and the other two staples Rillaboom and Seperior's sheer damage is way too much for even Alomomola's titanic defenses to handle.
Serperior and Ferrothorn can be handled with Sp Def Heatran and Rillaboom can be checked with Defensive Zapdos and Corviknight.
3. Electric Types There are a lot of good Electric Types in the tier like Magnezone, Tapu Koko and Zapdos which are all pretty solid answers to Alomomola. Choice specs Koko and Zone both OHKO it with Thunderbolt while offensive Zapdos threatens it as well.
This can be solved by having a reliable answer to these mons like Scor and ThundurusT who can get a free swap in on Thunderbolt.
4. Trapping Pokemon Pokemon that can trap you like Magma Storm Heatran and Whirlpool Tapu Fini is a big problem that Alomomola struggles with as it easily gets toxic stalled by Heatran and passively chipped by Tapu Fini until it eventually dies. Both of these mons also tend to carry taunt which prevents Alomomola from recovering health. Fini's Misty Surge and Tran's Steel typing makes toxic stall attempts fail.
Just swap out when they send these mons.
