Quality Control Ambipom Analysis [QC 0/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Ambipom in S/V NU can be thought of as a niche sidegrade, if not downgrade to Cinccino. They both have similar stats, typing, and abilities. However, Ambipom has a slightly different playstyle with its access to the move Fake Out and lack of Tidy Up. This makes it a decent option into offensive teams with lower bulk.

The Pivot set serves to threaten Pokemon who have low defensive bulk with its Fake out and pivot out of unfavorable situations. Examples of offensive Pokemon who are threatened include Pokemon Espeon, Tornadus, and Tentacruel. Knock Off is used to cover ghost types and remove items from any physically bulky Pokemon that want to switch in. U-turn is used for momentum when you’ve already knocked off a Pokemon or want to position better. Taunt is an option for stopping potential set up moves or recovery. Low Kick can also be used against heavy Steel types like Duraladon and Copperajah. Ambipom’s usual tera types are ghost for avoiding super effective fighting moves and Normal for that little extra bit of damage in certain scenarios.

Ambipom works best with Pokemon that can take a hit and create openings for it to come in. A bulky pivot such as Swampert or Bellibolt can allow for such opportunities. This set also works well with Pokemon that have hazard control since it benefits a lot from chip damage and doesn’t want to be chipped itself. Such partners may include Klefki for spikes, Espeon for Magic Bounce, and spinners like Bramblegast. Bramblegast is a decent partner for dealing with Barraskewda and Tauros-Paldea-Aqua and Fighting moves, as well as being able to Rapid Spin. Since Ambipom deals poorly with strong physical walls, special wallbreakers like Munkidori, Toxtricity, and Chandelure can come in after Ambipom U-turns out.

Other Options
====

The Fake Out and Last Resort set could be an amusing option to catch opponents off guard, though it’d be difficult to pull off while the opponent has ghost types and physically tough Pokemon with high health. Switcheroo with a Choice item could also incapacitate a check hoping to take advantage of Ambipom's lack of damage or coverage.

Checks and Counters
====

Physically Bulky Pokemon: Ambipom has a hard time with physically bulky pokemon like Rhyperior, Bellibolt, Houndstone, Altaria, and Slowbro-Galar, who can usually switch in rather freely and hit back hard. Bulky Decidueye sets can also win long term against Ambipom due to it not doing much damage after a Ghost type is already knocked off. Intimidate users such as Incineroar, Overqwil, Scrafty, and Tauros-Paldea-Aqua can also serve as a check to Ambipom.

Faster Pokemon: Faster Pokemon often force Ambipom out as it is not the best at taking hits. Examples include Kilowattrel, Inteleon, and Barraskewda. Choice scarfed Pokemon will also pose a problem to this set when it can’t use Fake Out. Examples include Munkidori, Flygon, Flamigo, and Tauros-Paldea-Aqua.

Priority: Although Priority is not as common in NU, a rogue Vacuum Wave from an Infernape or Sucker Punch from a Brute Bonnet can catch Ambipom off guard when Fake Out isn't an option.

Status: Ambipom will be entirely shut down by paralysis or a burn. Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave users like Klefki and Houndstone can completely ruin Ambipom's chances of making an impact in a game.

i like the comparison to similar offensive pokemons with the cinccino mention but this doesnt follow the regular format of pros then cons.

to remedy this, i’d reword the first half to talk about
- ambipom’s great matchup into offensive teams like grassy terrain, sun, and offense
- speed helps to finish off paldean tauros-w, flygon, munkidori
- movepool lets it hit many foes (triple axel for gligar, knock off for chandelure, and low kick for copperajah for example)
then you can tranistion into negatives like
- it being relatively weak: 2hkoed by any attack
- competes with other pivots like munkidori, flamigo, and raikou who have better qualities (trick/scrappy/cm)
- very weak to hazards + any defensive pokemon sits on it for days

The Pivot set Ambipom serves to threaten Pokemon who have low defensive bulk like Espeon, Tornadus, and Flamigo with its Fake out and pivot out of unfavorable situations against Copperajah, Houndstone, and Rhyperior. Examples of offensive Pokemon who are threatened include Pokemon Espeon, Tornadus, and Tentacruel. (i moved this to where it can flow normally + tcruel isn't common) Knock Off is used to cover ghost types switching into Fake Out like (use examples of ghost mons here) and remove items from any physically bulky Pokemon that want to switch in such as (list examples here). U-turn is used for momentum when you’ve already knocked off a Pokemon or want to and helps with positioning against foes like (list examples here) better (this sentence was a bit too casual, avoid using "you" and similar words. opt for centering pokemon as self-controlling beings unless you're talking about opponents and them switching). Taunt is an option for stopping potential set up moves or recovery. (moved it to OO, Other Options) Low Kick can also be used against heavy Rock- and Steel types like Rhyperior Duraladon duraludon is pretty light + rhyperior is a better target and Copperajah. (triple axel hits gligar, flygon, tsareena, and altaria) (technichian is preferred to maximize fake out, double hit, and triple axel damage) (talk about heavy duty boots letting you avoid entry hazard chip damage, silk scarf boosts fake out to help with KOing frail foes such as espeon, grafaiai, flamigo, and tornadus, and ppads helps avoid static and rocky helmet from bellibolt and klefki.) Ambipom’s usual tera types are ghost for avoiding super effective fighting moves and Normal for that little extra bit of damage in certain scenarios. (reword this to match the set's order: talk about normal, then ghost. also, when you talk about them expand on what they do. for example: Tera Normal boosts Fake Out, helping with KOing foes from higher health percentages. Plus, if paired with Silk Scarf, Tera Normal Ambipom can OHKO Munkidori with Double Hit and has rolls in its favor to KO Flamigo and Flygon with Double Hit.) (as for tera ghost, it is to avoid cc from foes like heracross and waterbull/paldean tauros-w)

Ambipom works best with Pokemon that can take a hit and create openings for it to come in. A bulky pivot such as Swampert or Bellibolt can allow for such opportunities, (add comma) drawing in foes like Paldean Tauros-W and Raikou (always elaborate with examples on what is being brought in / what is being taken advantage of / etc.). This set also works well with Pokemon that have hazard control since it benefits a lot from chip damage and doesn’t want to be chipped itself. Such partners may include Klefki and Gligar for spikes, Duraludon and Copperajah for Stealth Rock Espeon for Magic Bounce (espeon is largely only seen on grassy terrain), and spinners like Tsareena and Bramblegast. Bramblegast is a decent partner for dealing with Barraskewda and Tauros-Paldea-Aqua and Fighting moves (usually you want more specifics, but bramble isn't too sturdy of a mon, so just naming skewda ansd waterbull works fine for now), as well as being able to Rapid Spin (you just said this). Since Ambipom deals poorly with strong physical walls, special wallbreakers like Munkidori, Toxtricity Tornadus, and Chandelure can come in after Ambipom U-turns out on defensive foes like Amoonguss, Gligar, and Houndstone.

Taunt is an option for stopping potential set up moves like Calm Mind from Reuniclus, entry hazards like Spikes from Gligar, or recovery like Wish from Vaporeon. Double Edge also offers a stronger and more reliable STAB option for Ambipom, but it cuts into its already non-existent longevity. (reword as you wish) The Fake Out and Last Resort set could be an amusing option to catch opponents off guard, though it’d be difficult to pull off while the opponent has ghost types and physically tough Pokemon with high health. Switcheroo with a Choice item could also incapacitate a check hoping to take advantage of Ambipom's lack of damage or coverage. (last resort is not worth losing moveslots + choice band makes clicking fake out too risky)

(you'll notice i added asterisks [***] back in, this is so the text pops up as bold when we submit it to the website)

**Physically Bulky Pokemon**: Ambipom has a hard time with physically bulky pokemon like Rhyperior, Bellibolt, Houndstone, Altaria, and Slowbro-Galar, who can usually switch in rather freely and hit back hard. Bulky Decidueye sets can also win long term against Ambipom due to it not doing much damage after a Ghost type is already knocked off. (instead of emntioning bulky decidueye just move the houndstone mention down here) Intimidate users such as Incineroar, Overqwil, Scrafty, and Tauros-Paldea-Aqua can also serve as a check to Ambipom.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon often force Ambipom out as it is not the best at taking hits. Examples include Salazzle, Cinccino Kilowattrel, Inteleon, and Barraskewda. Choice scarfed Pokemon such as Munkidori, Flygon, Flamigo, and Paldean Tauros-W will also pose a problem to this set when it can’t use Fake Out. Examples include Munkidori, Flygon, Flamigo, and Tauros-Paldea-Aqua.

**Priority**: Although Priority is not as common in NU, a rogue Vacuum Wave from an Infernape or Sucker Punch from a Brute Bonnet can catch Ambipom off guard when Fake Out isn't an option. these are ok examples but talk about more important ones like aqua jet basculegion and first impression flygon)

**Status**: Ambipom will be entirely shut down by paralysis or a burn. Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave users like Klefki and Houndstone can completely ruin Ambipom's chances of making an impact in a game.
