Amidst the rise of stall....

...Comes a balanced team based around a sweep of choice. Either a Nasty Plot Mismagius or Swords Dance Venusaur will pull it off. The team accomplishes this in the end through the use of synergy to weaken the enemy, eventually providing an opening for one of the mentioned Pokemon to sweep.

In Depth:

The Lead

Regirock@Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/36 Atk/220 Sp Def
Nature:Careful
-Stealth Rock
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-Explosion

I hate the concept of suicide leads in most cases. My mindset has always been that even if you're only setting up entry hazards, why waste a precious slot? I chose Regirock because while he does set up the much-needed Stealth Rock, he also packs a punch AND takes hits from both sides of the offensive spectrum. This means he sticks around for most of the game. Rock slide and EQ provide good coverage, and explosion allows me to easily take out Pokemon I see that may be problem later in the game. I'll usually attack on seeing obvious taunt leads, but other than that my first move is always Stealth Rock. Regirock isn't beaten easily at all by common leads like Froslass or Ambipom, but uxie can be sort of a problem. Regirock is a tank of tanks, and is sure to get SR up and most of the time take atleast one enemy down with it.

The Defensive Core

The Physical Wall

80.png

Slowbro@Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
Evs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpDef
Nature: Bold
-Thunder Wave
-Surf
-Psychic
-Slack Off

When thinking of a defensive core, I brainstormed about something that could handle most of the physical threats in UU. Slowbro quickly came to mind, hitting the Hitmon family as well as Hariyama super effectively. Feraligatr needs to set up for more than just a turn or two if its gonna take out Slowbro. And this is not easy for it to do, while battling Thunder Wave para hax and neutral STAB psychics. Arcanine is dealt with easily, the life orb variants can't do much even with Thunder Fang, and Surf takes care of them fast. Bulky Arcanines can be tricky with their status moves, but Surf deals with them too. Spreading para around helps my sweepers later in the game, and coupled with instant reliable recovery, Slowbro helps set up the goal of the team very well. The Removal of fire types is crucial if Venusaur is going to be the one to sweep in the end.

The Special Wall
36.png

Clefable@Toxic Orb
Ability:Magic Guard
Evs: 252 HP/252 SpDef/4 Def
Nature: Calm
-Aromatherapy
-Softboiled
-Encore
-Seismic Toss

Keeping big UU threats in mind, I needed a special wall to deal with Sceptile, Raikou, Porygon-Z, etc (Threats that gave my last team trouble). Clefable seemed perfect, with great special defenses and a sole weakness already resisted by the physical wall in the team. Aromatherapy never ceases to be useful, removing annoying toxic from Slowbro, burn from Regirock or paralysis from one of my sweepers. Encore lets me lock Mismagius and Raikou into Sub or CM, the former of which I can't touch as Seismic Toss is my only attacking move. Even if I lock Mismagius into HP Fighting, atleast I know it can't change moves and I can get a switch into my own Missy. Clefable has great synergy with Slowbro, and walls that can cover eachother are always better in a balanced team. Clefable's only weakness is resisted by Slowbro, and Clefable can easily take the special grass/thunder/ghost/dark attacks aimed at Slowbro.

The Offensive Core

The Wall-Breaker

257.png

Blaziken@Life Orb
Ability:Blaze
Evs: 4 Atk/252 SpAtt/252 Speed
Nature: Rash
-Superpower
-Fire Blast
-Hidden Power Grass
-Vacuum Wave

Ah Blaziken. Since the removal of Honchkrow from UU, its usage seems to be on the rise. And with good reason, too. Aside from being a great late game sweeper, this Blaziken's set also serves as an amazing wall breaker. Annoying walls like Clefable, Chansey, Venusaur, Tangrowth, Donphan, Quagsire, Gastrodon, Cradily, and semi-weakened Slowbro and Milotic are taken out. The breaking of walls as easy as possible is a huge asset to this team so that my sweepers have one less thing to worry about. Vacuum Wave also gives me priority which is important with all the fast sweeping going on. The coverage on this set is rare and so useful that Blaziken is found on the majority of UU teams I make.

The Physical Sweeper
3.png

Venusaur@Life Orb
Ability:Overgrow
Evs: 4 Hp/252 Att/252 Speed
Nature: Jolly
-Sleep Powder
-Swords Dance
-Power Whip
-Earthquake

When all the grass and fire types that plague Venusaur have been dealt with by Slowbro and Blaziken, this bulky sweeper arises. I love the combination of bulk and power, and Venusaur's speed isn't anything to laugh at. Sleep Powder gives me free turns of set-up, something that most other sweepers don't get. The element of surprise gets people here. Expecting a defensive Venusaur and trying to burn turns of sleep only to get set up on. And if they do switch out, they now have to deal with a +2 bulky sweeper with a 120 base power STAB move. Scary? I think so.

The Special Sweeper
429.png

Mismagius@Leftovers

Ability:Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Sp Att/252 Speed
Nature: Timid
-Nasty Plot
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power Fighting
-Substitute

While Missy is usually a late game sweeper, I traded Calm Mind for more power. I don't need to set up Calm Minds when the rest of my team has weakened the opponent already. With one Nasty Plot, Mismagius reaches so much power, all at a speed stat of 339. Shadow Ball and Hidden Power Fighting provide unresisted coverage in UU. Substitute gives me the advantage over enemies with Sucker Punch, allowing me to mess with their heads a little. Substitute's purpose is obvious, allowing protection from enemy attacks while I set up.

Closing:

My play style is always very balanced, as shown greatly by this team. And why this is the most fun team I've built in a while, it has its weaknesses. The team contains some of my all time favorites, and its great that they can work together.

But, Pokemon that stand out to me as problems are physical Dark types (Absol/Drapion/Toxicroak). This is because my physical wall, Slowbro, can't hold them off for long. Blaziken, however usually takes out Absol with Vacuum Wave, and can live a banded/+2 sucker punch because of the resistance. Is there anything I can do to fix this weakness to the other physically offensive dark types? Also I'll take any other advice as to what to change to make this team better.

Run hidden power electric over grass on Blaziken, as you already have Venasuar with Power Whip to dish out grass STABS.
Other than that, it looks a very nice balanced team. :)

Hello

My first suggestion will be running Stone Edge over Rock Slide on your lead Regirock. Simply because Regirock could use all the power he can get. Also, being one of the few leads that could beat Ambipom I suggest Hammer Arm over Earthquake (you won't loose much coverage either).

I would also like to suggest that you put the 4 leftover EV's on Slowbro in SDef.

I see you are aiming at the Encore Clefable set so maybe an EV's spread of 252 HP / 152 Def / 100 SpD / 4 Spe would be more suited. You could also consider her hold item to be Flame Orb. Clefable will not take any damage from it, it can screw over Trick users and it protects Clefable from status that could be troublesome (not protected by Magic Guard) being Sleep and Paralysis.

You should also consider Substitute on Mismagius. I would put it over either Thunderbolt or Hidden Power (fighting). Substitute is mainly used for strong Dark types with Sucker Punch (like Absol) who could take you out before you could attack them, no matter if you have 4 NP's up.

Hope this helped!

Thank you for the rate Delko! That was typo on Slowbro's EV spread haha. I will test out Substitute on Mismagius and that EV spread for Clefable and let you know how it goes.

Edit: I tested all of your suggestions. Hammer Arm works great minus the slight accuracy problems, and Stone Edge is indeed a better choice on something with very little Attack EV investment. I put Clefable back at 252 HP and Sp Def after a few games because it just wasn't able to wall what it's supposed to as well as it did before. I found Toxic Orb to be more useful than Flame Orb as a lot of the trick users are either walls or special attackers. Lastly, I like Subsitute on Missy and it will have that move permanently.
