VGC An Mega-Sableye team

Hey Wzzl2510 here. I am very interested in VGC and I like it a lot! I always wanted to do a RMT for one of my best team. You can suggest movesets or a brand new pokemon. So here is the team!

Sableye. Sablenite
Ability: Prankster/Magic Bounce
EVs: 248HP/8ATK/252DEF
Impish Nature

- recover
- calm mind
- knock off
- toxic

The main reason for this team. Its sets up the Calm Mind, and then toxic. Knock off is for stab and for ofcours knocking off the opponents item. Recover is for that Pokes dont kill it so easily.

Heatran Air-Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252HP/4ATK/252SPDEF
Sassy Nature

- Hidden Power Grass
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Crunch

I wanted to use Heatran so hard. It works so well with Mega-Sableye and the other pokes. HP is for the annoying water types that threaten Heatran so much. Crunch is for the Dark type pokes, EQ is for hitting multiple opponents, and ofcourse an FB for stab and for Grass pokes.

Ludicolo @Assault-Vest
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 4HP/252SPD/252SPE
Timid Nature

- Hydro Pump
- Drain Punch
- Ice Beam
- Giga Drain

This is the star of the team. I always thought that Ludicolo has so much potiental if you use him right. And Ludicolo is always been a favourite pokemon of mine. I decided to go with a Drain Punch and it really works. Giga drain, Ice Beam, Hydro Pump is I think a really common set. With the Assault Vest this thing is a MONSTER

Slurpuff. Sitrus-Berry
Ability: Sweet Veil
EVs: 4HP/252ATK/252SPE

- Belly Drum
- Aromatherapy
- Drain Punch
- Dazzling Gleam

Before this poke I had Clefable, and I liked it but it could be better. So I decided to go with Slurpuff. Slurpuff has a good stat spread (for me). I decided to go with a Verlisify set, but with DG. Its a really good pokemon that works out for me.

Flygon. @Yache-Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4HP/252SPA/252SPE
Hasty Nature

- Earthquake
- Dragon Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power Steel

I really like Flygon and its a really cool looking pokemon. I used to have Excadrill there, but my team gets rekt by EQ. So I came up with Flygon. Dragon Pulse is STAB and is overall a good move. HP Steel is for Fairies to get at least a little bit damage. Flamethrower and EQ is for coverage.

Azelf. @Chesto-Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248HP/8SPD/252SPE
Timid Nature

- Rest
- Recycle
- Magic Coat
- Taunt

This Pokemon is for the Pranksters etc. Its just a good Taunter and with Magic Coat its just funny to see the Taunt strategy fall in pieces. Because of the Chesto-Resto its almost never get killed.

You can suggest movesets or pokes for my team.

Thank You :)

Mega Sableye is not viable in VGC. VGC is a very fast tier and Mega Sableye is a stall Pokémon more than anything else. Also your lacking any pokes with protect, which in my opinion, all Pokémon in VGC need to have protect. Also, your running a calm mind set with a physical attack. Not to be rude, but you should try making a new team.

Crunch & Earthquake won't get the necessary damage that Heatran needs to do well. Ludicolo's physical attack stat is to poor to really make work compared to its Sp. Attack stat & Swift Swim is a lot more usable compared to the situational Own Tempo. Slurpuff works better with the Unburden ability since once you lose your Sitrus Berry, your speed doubles so Drain Punch & Dazzling Gleam will do damage. Also, I would switch Dazzling Gleam to Play Rough & use an Adamant Nature for more overall power. I would put Earth Power on Flygon to make use of the Sp. Attack investment. Azelf is fine & Mega Sableye would enjoy Dark Pulse instead of Knock Off

Hey Wzzl2510, this is an interesting team. However, there definitely needs to be changes to your team in order for it to be improved.

Firstly, 248 HP / 8 Spe is useless in VGC because each Pokémon is scaled to Level 50, so the EVs work differently. The way you have chose your spreads for your Mega Sableye and Azelf, you have effectively gave them 244 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe and 244 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spe, respectively.

Another key tip to mention is that most Pokémon don't run 4/252/252 spreads and instead tend to run more unique spreads to survive attacks from certain Pokémon and also out speed certain threats.

Another thing to mention is that Mega Sableye, Drain Punch Ludicolo, Slurpuff, Flygon and even Azelf aren't really viable in VGC as they are either outclassed by other Pokémon or they are far better options.

Therefore, I'd replace Sableye for Thundurus and use it as a Prankster user for support for your team, spreading Thunder Wave, Swagger, and the like.

Another change I'd make would be replacing Drain Punch for Fake Out on Ludicolo. Fake Out is one of the main reasons to use Ludicolo, and can apply pressure onto the opponent, especially if you have Thundurus on the field with it as well.

I'd also replace Slurpuff for Azumarill if you wish to use Belly Drum. Belly Drum Azumarill has priority Aqua Jet, which is great to use for Trick Room, and can take on many threats of the tier of played correctly.

Next, Flygon is a very weak Pokémon in terms of VGC and in my opinion is outclassed by Garchomp in almost every way. However, since at this point you would have no Mega if you made my changes, I would definitely use Mega Salamence as not only is it immune to Ground-Type attacks like Flygon is however it's stats and offensive presence is a lot better in VGC and should be considered on your team.

Finally while Azelf is an interesting support Pokémon you have chosen, with Thundurus on your team you really should be fine with status and other slower Prankster users by using Taunt and could therefore do with a support Pokémon to help aid Your Fairy-Type and Dragon-Type sweep effectively. Therefore, Amoonguss can be a great option because not only can it redirect attacks with Rage Powder however it can also put opponents to sleep with its 100% accurate Spore move while one of your Pokémon can either use an attack or Protect to keep itself safe.

In conclusion, I think your team definitely has some strong points however could really do with some of these changes in order to shine.

TL;DR: Thundurus>Mega Sableye, Fake Out>Drain Punch on Ludicolo, Azumarill>Slurpuff, Mega Salamence>Flygon, Amoonguss>Azelf.

You can check Pokémon Global Link, Smogon and/or Nugget Bridge for spreads and move sets, however feel free to ask me for further help as well! Hope this helped. :]
