Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
- Fire Blast?(Contemplating Psychic)

This little Guy(Or girl?) has become my favorite lead, and is always going to be a top lead for one reason, consistency. I like Azelf because most of the time, it will always be able to set up rocks, stop the opponent from setting up rocks, and if i get past that, decide what my next move will be. Sometimes i switch out, coming back later being able to put a Nice Dent in whatever gets hit by Fire Blast, while also Exploding on a whim, getting rid of Unsuspecting Blissey while also leaving a huge dent in everything else.

The moveset is pretty simple. Taunt Slower leads who are going to attempt SR/Sleep Powder/Sub/Whatever. Laying down the ever so crucial rocks will always be my Primary goal, and Most of the time Azelf excels at just that. Fire blast is there for opposing Scizor, Jirachi, and Metagross, being able OHKO many times. Explosion allows Azelf to go out with a bang when it's running out of gas, and it can really hurt an opponets ability to wall.

Gyarados (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature(Is Jolly necessary?) (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Ahhh Gyarados, he will always be my favorite Pokemon, and is the one Pokemon that will always be on my team, no matter how good or bad he is. How many of you remember back in the R/B/Y days of catching a Magikarp and constantly switching in and out to get that coveted Gyarados. Well, aside from being my favorite, Gyarados is a force to be reckoned with in DPP.

His moveset is a standard Offensive Dragon Dance Set. His Unparalleled ability to switch in on loads of Pokemon, Dragon Dance on the switch out, and leave a path of destruction. 2 Dragon Dances generally means game over. Waterfall is there for that powerful STAB water attack. A +2 Waterfall thats not resisted is OHKO for the opponent, Stone edge provides coverage with Waterfall, hitting Zapdos, Dragonite, and other Gyarados'. Earthquake allows me to hit Metagross, Empoleon, and Magnezone, while giving me another Highly damaging attack. Gyarados serves as my Early To Mid-Game sweeper, and every now and then my Opponent may Slip up, or come unprepared, which opens the door for a full on sweep.

Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Extremespeed
- Swords Dance
- Crunch

This guy is so nasty. He is, Bar none the best Late Game sweeper in the current meta-game. Immune to Toxic spikes, Resisting Rock, Dragon, and dark type moves, this guy will be able to sweep Un-Hindered Late game. Close Combat for STAB on things i know i outspeed, Extremespeed on faster, frailer opponents, and crunch for those Bitch Rotom Forms, and Celebi. With Gyarados and Dragonite, i have three offensive monsters that are hard to stop. The three also have great Defensive Synergy, seeing as how both Gyarados and dragonite can switch in on EQ's and Fire Blasts meant for Luke, and proceed to do some damage.

Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Atk/192 Spd/64 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Explosion
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Heatran with choice scarf makes him a great revenge killer, a powerful special attacker, and an important check to many huge threats, like Lucario, Infernape, and a few others. HP electric allows Heatran to come in on any Ice Beam intended for Dragonite or Breloom, and reply with an Attack of its own. HP Electric is a God-send against Gyarados, as well as Suicune, Starmie, Vaporeon, and pretty much any Bulky-Water that wants to switch in on this Heatran. Fire Blast is an Amazing STAB fire type move, with a Flash Fire Boost, not many can survive a neutral hit from this monster after stealth rock. Earth Power helps against Infernape, while Blissey is going to eat an explosion to the face.

images

Breloom (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 12 HP/252 Atk/244 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Spore
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Seed Bomb

Breloom is a Fucking Machine. Seriously, switch in on any would be thunderbolt, surf, Stone edge, Waterfall, or Grass knot, Spore the opponent, Sub-Up, and Focus punch to my hearts content. I have ripped apart the Unprepared teams, and people who dont know how to handle this beast are just asking to get swept.

Whenever i see a Pokemon come out that Breloom resists, this guy comes in. He laughs at Pokemon such as Tyranitar and Swampert, spores away, and proceeds to eat away at my Opponents team, and sometimes even there spirit.

images

Dragonite (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 116 Atk/200 Spd/192 SAtk
Rash nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
- Superpower
- Fire Blast

After the banning of Salamence, Dragonite was the next best Mixed Sweeper. This dragonite can 2HKO almost any Pokemon in the game, while OHKO Blissey with Superpower, and Destroying Skarmory and Bronzong with Fire Blast. I have contemplated Roost with this set though, since SR+LO recoil+Sandstorm generally = Dragonite being dead in a few turns. Thunderbolt is there to Hit Gyarados, Vaporeon, and Suicune For Super-Effective damage, though it Rarely OHKO the last two. Draco Meteor for the insanely damaging STAB Dragon-type move, Hurting Anyhting that doesnt resist it. Dragonite great attack Stats, Superpower, amd good defenses make him a great StallBreaker.

Conclusion
This team has had its ups and downs, which is where YOU factor in. Any Construcitve Criticism is highly appreciated, and team suggestions are needed. I have been contemplating using Tyranitar, since he can deal with those damned ghost, i may need an Ice Beamer to deal with Other dragons, and if im missing anything, please point it out! Thanks for reading, and Thanks even more for the rate!

Hi.

Your team has something of a weakness to Jolly DD Dragonite, some versions of DD gyarados (Jolly with Ice fang, or if Breloom faints). Jolly natures are becoming somewhat more popular on these pokemon, since they are no longer usurped by the faster Salamence. However, as long as you keep Breloom and Heatran alive you should be able to deal with them at the cost of a pokemon or two. The suggestion of a scarf Flygon is not a bad one though. If you do this, I would suggest changing to a Colbur berry azelf, as these two form a great scouting duo, and Flygon helps take out Aerodactyl and Azelf after you have U-turned out. I have recently used this Azelf, and have never looked back. You should use 252hp 40atk 216 spe Jolly as the spread though, as there is no reason not to allow yourself to take weak special and physical attacks when Explosion does huge damage to everything anyway.

I would suggest Taunt over EQ on Gyarados. This prevents you from being phazed or crippled by the likes of Celebi, Swampert and Skarmory, and has great utility against stall teams. EQ is not that useful, as Metagross and Magnezone are hit hard already, and Empoleon struggles to damage you significantly.

I would suggest Adamant over Jolly on Lucario. The main reason for Jolly is that you can revenge opposing Lucario, but you already have Heatran and Gyarados for this. Adamant lets you KO more opponents and powers up Extremespeed for revenge-killing purposes.

One suggestion is to give Dragonite Extremespeed over Thunderbolt. Most bulky waters are hit harder by Draco Meteor initially anyway, so you rarely need to use Thunderbolt. Extremespeed gives it some revenge-killing capacity, that allows you to take out a host of sweepers when combined with Lucario's Extremespeed. It also lets you pick off faster switchins who have taken a Draco Meteor. Alternatively, you could use Roost, which is more useful than Thunderbolt; as you have noted, Dragonite dies rather fast without it.

Good luck.

Edit - thanks IBanez - of course I meant Jolly.

Hey,

I second the addition if a Scarf Flygon, as it gives you a much needed check to dangerous Pokemon sch as Jolly Gyara, DD Kingdra, and DDnite, all of whom can cause plenty of trouble to your team. An Adamant nature can't hurt, as it still allows you to outspeed the above Pokes at +1. You do lose out on a speed tie with opposing Scarfgon and Jirachi, but Jirachi is a free switch-in for Heatran and locking yourself into Outrage isn't a good idea unless it's lategame, as Scarfgon is pretty valuable.

Colbur Azelf sounds really interesting. It allows you to beat Lead Machamp, who can cause a bit of a headache, as well as being able to take measly damage from a Pursuit from Scarftar and simply SR or U-turn out for good damage. The EV spread mentioned by jc sounds pretty good, although I think he meant the nature to be Jolly. A moveset of Explosion/U-turn/SR/Taunt sounds pretty good.

There's not much need to run a Scarf on Heatran now, so why not use a Life Orb set to help take on stall better? A moveset of Fire Blast/Earth Power/HP Electric/Explosion has practically no safe switch-ins barring Swampert, who is setup fodder for Breloom. It's an excellent Gyara lure, too.

Seems like a pretty solid team, gl!

Hi Jaysel, I've got a quick suggestion:

Machamp leads are really common now, so it's necessary to have a way to deal with them. The best way to do this would be to switch to Colbur Azelf on your lead:

487.png

Azelf @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 8 HP / 140 Atk / 144 SpD / 216 Spe
Jolly nature
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
- U-Turn

You can now survive Payback + Bullet Punch from Machamp, allowing you to safely set up Stealth Rock and explode on it. U-Turn is to escape from faster taunters (Aerodactyl), unfavorable match-ups, and break Focus Sashes.

Hey everybody thanks for the rates. So far......

Substitute Heatran has worked like a charm. Too many people expect the scarf set. Fried Rhys, Thank You for that Genius advice!

Scarf Flygon has worked great as well, and functions better as a revenge killer, as well as Keeping Dragonite and Kingdra in their places.

Taunt on Gyarados has worked surprisingly well. The TWaves and Toxics and Burns that i have avoided have won me quite a few matches. He has replaced Dragonite, and has worked like a charm.

The Colbur Azelf has taken some getting used to, but against machamp it is a Godsend. I have been considering Zen Headbutt over U-Turn, but U-Turn is hard to give up

I have been having some issues with Vaporeons that run with Protect+Wish. I know breloom can counter them, and my experience against Vaporeon is Limited, is there a specific way to get rid of him?

You're right about that. Breloom is a great switch-in to Vaporeon, and should have no trouble taking it out.

The best course of action when switching Breloom in is actually not to Spore immediately. This is what most players would do, but whenever Breloom is switched into something that it heavily threatens, or something that can't damage it much back, the best move to make first is Substitute. The reason for this is that many players expect a Spore immediately, and switch in a Pokemon to serve as sleep fodder. Using Sub allows you to choose which of their Pokemon to put to sleep, while providing yourself with some protection in case they decide to attack.

In this situation, you would switch Breloom into Vaporeon, and then use Substitute first. If they stay in, you can kill them with Seed Bomb. If they switch, Spore the switch-in if it's a notable threat, or kill it behind the Sub if you are able to.

Ok guys after a few days this team has done me really well here on Shoddy Battle. But a few notes.......

Is the added bulk on Gyarados really necessary? I have tried both sets alot, and the added firepower of the all offense set is great. Machamp has ripped me to shreds a few times though, so i can see how that warrants a Bulky Gyarados. Maybe a Gliscor or Skarmory or Cresselia would work?

If you're talking about lead champ ripping you apart take faladran's advice and get a colbur azelf. Other than then that, great team.
