Team Goal:
someone please tell me a goal i just want to win
its embarrassing without one

I made this team during the Mkhan suspect test, and it's been pretty successful, reaching 1413 and peaking 43th. Admittedly, proper teambuilding is not one of my fortes, and I mostly just keep replacing mons until I run out of threats. Slashes are my options which I can't decide on, and I would like advice on them.

373.gif

Slamamence (Salamence) @ Life Orb / Expert Belt
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump
- Draco Meteor
- Protect

Intimidate is great, as fast physical threats such as Talonflame and Choice Scarf Landog are pain to the team. Fire Blast hits all pokemon weak to it hard as hell, like Aegislash, Excadill, Jirachi, Ferrothorn, and Mega-Mawile. Hydro Pump with Life Orb / Expert Belt nicely KOs standard Landog, hitting Victini heavily as well as 2HKOing max spdef Heatran. Draco Meteor is just for those MAX DOMAGE moments, and is unfortunately practically useless against all other dragons, with Sal's middling speed. It's typing and okay bulk at least give it some chances for switching in. Fast dragons and Mega-Garde are his enemies, and he can't actually kill Mega-Mawile specially in one hit, which is scary.

485.gif

Meatran (Heatran) @ Air Balloon / Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 Spd
Modest Nature
- Heat Wave
- Earth Power
- Substitute / Hidden Power Ice / Ancient Power
- Protect

Meatran is a fantastic tank, and is great for walling Mega-Garde, Aegislash, Talonflame and much more while dishing out damage in return. Air Balloon helps against pesky ground types, especially the scarfed ones like again, Landog, Garchomp and Excadrill. Heat Wave and Earth Power are standard. While Substitute gives me protection that makes Heatran so much harder to kill, HP Ice would allow me to KO the dragons/dogs that this guy walls and Ancient Power would let me nail Charizard Y and Talonflame. He struggles against water types like Manaphy and Keldeo, even more so in rain, with Kingdras running about.

184.gif

King Kazma (Azumarill) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Protect / Superpower

I think you can already see that this team was based on a DSF/Fantasy core. Which was originally in Singles. Welp. Azumarill has Sitrus, which lets me break through enemies without dying. A huge attack, good typing and bulk, along with reliable stab moves that go well together make it great for stopping Heatran, a lot of dragons, Talonflame, somewhat Bisharp and pretty much any frail Pokemon. Strong priority is also fantastic. However, Amoonguss, Venusaur and Ferrothorn stop him cold.

237.gif

TOP GUN (Hitmontop) (M) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Def / 64 Atk / 128 SDef
Careful Nature
- Quick Guard
- Wide Guard
- Close Combat
- Fake Out

Fantastic team supporter. It may seem to be strange, running him with only CC for attacking, but after a while with Rock Slide / Sucker Punch, I was underwhelmed and went with Quick Guard. Very useful for flaming birds, sneaky bishops and the occasional BellyJet Azumarill. If I'm lucky, I can prevent Fake Outs from opposing Tops, as well as the rarer Scrafties and Sableyes. Wide Guard is pretty good for preventing powerful Earthquakes, Eruptions and Hyper Voices from overwhelming this team. I'm not good at Feint, so I don't use it. But since smogon says so, should I learn to?

492-sky.gif

Mr. Anger (Shaymin-Sky) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Protect

60%=100%. Disposes of Brelooms and Amoonguss by switching in on Spore and Air Slashing. Focus Sash as this guy is frail and has a ton of weaknesses. Seed Flare is an extremely powerful move in that it allows Shaymin to break down specially bulky mons with hax. Earth Power downs annoying steel resists like Aegislash and Heatran. Bulky waters like Azumarill and Suicune are BTFO. With hax, this pokemon has no counters. (not really, talonflame, terrakion, tyranitar and bisharp suck to be facing. dont even mention mamoswine and weavile)

282.gif

Champ (Gardevoir) @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Synchronize
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psychic
- Trick Room / Shadow Ball / Focus Blast
- Protect

Obligatory Mega for maximum pummeling. Hyper Voice and Psychic help against Mega-Venu, Amoonguss, and a lot of other slow threats, which are KOed or 2HKOed by its STAB combo. As it's relatively slow, Trick Room helps against faster threats while also disrupting Trick Room's flow. Shadow Ball, which actually lets me dent Aegislash, doesn't even 2HKO after Leftovers and would I really want to stay in on an Aegislash? However, the neutral coverage is missed sometimes, and all steels like Heatran and Excadrill laugh. Frankly, Focus Blast scares me. Let's me OHKO standard T-tar, Excadrill and 2HKO Max Spdef Heatran. But who trusts RNG to do it's job?

Concerns:

-This team is really slow. There's only Shaymin-Sky for speed, and most Choice Scarfers outspeed it anyway. Should I go Tailwind?
-Talonflame scares me shitless. Choice Band variants are worse. Only Hitmontop, and barely Heatran and Salamence can save me.
-Bisharp is a major pain. I've got 2 Intimidate users, and one of them, Top, is the only one that can safely deal with it.
-I don't like Mega-Mawile. My frail special sweepers are ded.
-Mega and normal Tyranitar are only touched by Hitmontop (OHKO) and Azumarill (2HKO unless Superpower which is OHKO).
Individual Teammate Problems:

-Should I replace Mence? Mega-Mawile maliciously mocks me as Fire Blast gets me at most a 70% chance to slaughter the sadistic Sucker Puncher. All other Dragons laugh at his speed as well, and Mence without an Expert Belt and a Choice Scarf instead can't get the almightly Landog kill.
-Mega Garde is slow and is weak physically. Talonflame says hi.

(if you could, pls add concerns or tell me that some concerns are unnecessary)

That's the team. I don't mind large overhauls, like the replacing of multiple team members.
Also, this is a team for normal Doubles, not only the suspect test, so keep Mega-Khan in mind. No b& for sure.

hey just some improvements for the moves of each pokemon to synergize a little better
azum: keep protect. swap belly drum for waterfall. it's the reason why you are carrying sitrus after all. here is the set you should run
Physical Attacker
########
name: Physical Attacker
move 1: Play Rough
move 2: Waterfall / Belly Drum
move 3: Aqua Jet
move 4: Protect
ability: Huge Power
item: Sitrus Berry
evs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 92 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

Play Rough, a powerful 90 Base Power attack (135 Base Power after STAB), is the main attack for this set. When coming off of Azumarill's immense Attack, it easily makes short work of many unprepared teams, and its ability to lower the opponent's Attack stat can be very useful at times. Waterfall is the secondary Water-type STAB attack that has near-perfect coverage with Play Rough. It has better accuracy than Play Rough and almost as much power, and is generally a more reliable move. Belly Drum can be used in this slot instead, giving Azumarill a high risk, high reward setup move that will quickly enable it to deal even more damage than before. With adequate team support, Azumarill can use this move to boost its Attack to insane levels and easily OHKO many opponents. Aqua Jet rounds off Azumarill's offensive arsenal by quickly taking down weakened foes, making up for its middling Speed stat and helping it function as a great revenge killer. Protect is the last move, and allows Azumarill to protect itself from an opposing attack and buy time for its partner to execute attacks. It also guards Azumarill against its partner's spread moves and stalls out opposing field effects.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack investment is used to make Azumarill as powerful as possible, while enough Speed investment to outpace 0 Spe Tyranitar and below gives it the ability to tackle most bulkier tanks without sacrificing too much bulk or power. The rest of the EVs are stashed into HP for rounded bulk. Sitrus Berry is used to give Azumarill a bit more longevity, healing 25% of its HP once it's whittled down to below 50%, helping it recover from Belly Drum. Azumarill's natural bulk allows it to survive most neutral attacks, and the Sitrus Berry can often turn 2HKOs into 3HKOs by boosting Azumarill's total usable HP. Lum Berry can also be used to help Azumarill heal off status conditions if necessary. A spread of 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def is preferred for the Belly Drum route, which would appreciate the extra bulk to successfully pull off this costly set up.

Usage Tips
========

Due to its below-average Speed, Azumarill really requires partner support in order to shine. It needs a good partner to buy it time and bulk while it dishes out powerful attacks and sets up, though its natural bulk can allow it to sponge a few neutral hits. In general, it should be brought in against Dragon- and Fighting-types that it can defeat relatively easily or to revenge kill weakened opponents. Due to its typing advantage, it's a good idea to use Azumarill to bait common Intimidate users such as Hitmontop, Landorus-T, and Scrafty and KO them with super effective STAB moves. It's generally best to play Azumarill as a hit-and-run attacker (unless it's running Belly Drum) due to its low Speed and high attack power. It isn't really as much of a flat-out sweeper as it is a revenge killer and pivot.

Team Options
========

Hitmontop is a great partner for Azumarill, as Fake Out and Intimidate buy it a lot of time and bulk, increasing its longevity. Hitmontop also has Wide Guard, which is useful in stopping opposing Discharge users. Other Intimidate users such as Scrafty and Landorus-T are great partners as well. Partners that can target Electric-, Poison-, and Grass-types are really useful to help cover Azumarill's weaknesses. Ground-types are notable partners as Earthquake can target multiple threats at once while Azumarill uses Protect. Azumarill loves the company of status users: it greatly appreciates paralysis support as well as the free turns it can get from a partner's Spore. Rage Powder/Follow Me users are vital for Azumarill's success should it use Belly Drum, as they can redirect attacks and give it the valuable window it needs to set up safely. Amoonguss is a notable user as it walls Electric-types and can spread status, but unfortunately, it can't do much against Grass-types. This set could also work well with Trick Room, as Azumarill's low Speed makes it very fast while the field effect is active. If run with Trick Room support, Azumarill should use a Brave nature with minimum Speed investment. Dual screens users are helpful as they increase Azumarill's bulk, allowing it an easier setting up. Helping Hand users can boost Azumarill's power, helping it reach some key KOs and revenge kill a greater number of Pokemon. Jirachi is an awesome partner because it can provide Azumarill with Follow Me, Trick Room, Helping Hand, Speed control, and dual screens support, while also walling Grass- and Poison-types. Azumarill in turn can handle Fire-, Dark-, and Ground-types that threaten Jirachi.

garde: taunt or focus blast for third moveslot. tr is bad for your team
top: feint, stone edge, sucker punch are all options if you dont like quick guard. personally id keep quick guard if you are having trouble with talonflame. quick guard the bb and just kill with a teammate
im sure pinoy will rec something over mence
as for heatran, i really like subtran, but if you are having trouble with talon then keep ancientpower. hp ice shouldnt really be on tran. regardless of what move you have as your last, you should add enough speed on your heatran to outspeed no speed investment rotom-w. this would be to get a sub off first or pick it off if it is weak. this requires at least 76 speed ev's.
Pinoy Pwnage , do a mence rec

Hihi, finally said everything I wanted to say, and I'm a bad teambuilder but I'll do a mence rec (well I'll try)

I would use Rotom-W over mence. A set of WoW, Hyro Pump, Protect, and Thunderbolt/Electroweb can burn Mawile, burn Bisharp, wall Talonflame, wall Tyranitar, and can provide the speed control through Electroweb. I don't know EVs but I thik Max HP Max Def will work. Sitrus helps you take the initial hit better.

This however opens up a Skymin Weakness. Thersefore, I would keep Timid over Modest on Skymin to outspeed other Skymins I would also use Life Orb over Sash on Skymin because of power and you need more because of Timid.

I think your goal is to provide counters to common pokemon and to take advantage of it by firing off deadly attacks.

Solid team. My suggestions might be bad but I hope it helped.
Pinoy Pwnage do a better mence rec or I'll Psychic you :)

Hi, WEIGHINGMAGIC! Welcome to Smogon, and I have to admit, your team is actually pretty solid! :]

I'll agree with my boys finally and U-Turn Out; Salamence isn't the best option to use on your team, as he gets outclassed by the likes of Jolly Garchomp and Timid Latios. I recommend using Rotom-Wash over Salamence like U-Turn Out stated earlier due to the fact Rotom-W resists both of Talonflame's dual STABs in Brave Bird and Flare Blitz, and can halve the power of physical attackers with Will-O-Wisp.

479-wash.gif

Rotom-Wash @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 132 SDef / 116 Def / 4 Spd / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Electroweb
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect
The 132 Special Defense EVs invested when paired with a Calm nature allow Rotom-Wash to survive a Solar Beam from Modest Mega-Charizard-Y 100% of the time, while the 116 Defense EVs allow him to survive two Play Roughs from Azumarill when factoring in the Sitrus Berry recovery. Overall, this defensive EV spread increases Rotom-W's longevity during the battle for continued support for your team. STAB Hydro Pump is an obvious choice on Rotom-Wash, and STAB Electroweb is an effective spread move to help your Pokémon gain the speed advantage over the opponent. Will-O-Wisp is an extremely useful move, crippling physical attackers immensely with the burn damage; you can also stall out burn damage against the opponent with Protect + Will-O-Wisp, which can be useful in late-game situations. Protect is an absolute staple to any Pokémon in the Smogon Doubles metagame, providing you with an ability to scout the opponent before attacking, or to disrupt potential double targeting.

Heatran should have an EV spread of 236 HP / 252 SAtk / 20 Spd so that he is able to outspeed standard opposing Heatrans and potentially OHKO them with Earth Power (given that they don't carry a Shuca Berry). I highly suggest using Ancient Power over Substitute/Hidden Power [Ice] to deal effectively with Mega-Charizard-Y; the majority of your team struggles to counter Mega-Charizard-Y besides Heatran, who completely walls him and OHKOs him with Ancient Power. Finally, a Shuca Berry should be utilized instead of Air Balloon as Heatran will be the target of many attacks, easily popping the balloon. Shuca Berry guarantees a survival from most Ground-type moves, notably Earthquake from Garchomp and Excadrill, and Earth Power from Shaymin-Sky and opposing Heatrans.

I'll have to agree with finally that Belly Drum should be used over Waterfall on Azumarill; Belly Drum + Sitrus Berry + Aqua Jet makes for a devastating combination, as Azumarill will have retained 75% of his health after Belly Drum with full HP, and then you can proceed to decimate the opponent with a 6+ STAB Aqua Jet, OHKOing most Pokémon that don't resist it.

As for Shaymin-Sky, I recommend giving him a Modest nature with a Life Orb; he deals a significant amount of damage to any opponent that doesn't resist his STAB Seed Flare and STAB Air Slash. He even manages to OHKO a 4 HP Landorus-Therian 100% of the time. Even with the Modest nature, Shaymin-S will still have the ability to outspeed the majority of the Pokémon in the Smogon Doubles meta, hitting a high base 111+ speed mark when paired with a maximum amount of Speed EVs.

Just one tiny nitpick on Gardevoir; Psyshock should be used over Psychic to inflict a huge amount of damage to Pokémon who are normally specially defensive, examples include the likes of Venusaur-Mega and Amoonguss. Heck, if you come across an opponent carrying an annoying Blissey or Chansey, you can easily take them out with STAB Psyshock.

Anyway, hope I helped man! Good luck, friend. :]

Thank you guys so much for the recs!

BellyJet really saved my life against all the TR teams I came across, and it gave me the power to plow through them. This also came in handy for fast but frail teams which Hitmontop and Rotom-W could help me bulk and deflect attacks.
I found Rotom-W the biggest addition to this team, and was unbelievably helpful against Landog, Garchomp, Mega-Mawile and Talonflame, putting a full-stop to all of them. The speed drop was also decent for Garde and Skymin to sweep easily, even letting me get the jump on the opposing team with Heatran and Hitmontop.

Again, thanks finally, U-turn and Pinoy for the great help.
