An RMT with bad internet memes

Hello everybody. I used to play Shoddy a lot back when D/P first came out. I made a few good teams and a few bad ones, but now that Platinum is out I thought I might try again. I tried using my best old team, and though it worked pretty well, it just wasn't near as good as it used to be. With that in respect, I'm seeking some help.

The Lead

AllUrBase (Yanmega) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 104 Def/152 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Protect
- Hypnosis
---
The first of two pokes that I've seen on Smogon. I can't remember who came up with this EV spread, but its a Buklymega and its pretty good. Protect for scouting/Speed boost bonus, Bug Buzz for STAB, and HP ground OHKOs(rarely 2HKOs) incoming Heatran/Magnezone. Hypnosis for filler/Status.

The SR

RMarthandRoyInDisGame? (Heatran) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Explosion
- Stealth Rock
---
Part one of the Celetran combo. Stealth rock because he seems to run it pretty well. Max sp atk for Earth Power/Flamethrower and Explosion to end it.

The Mixer

4theLulz (Gyarados) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 216 HP/252 Def/40 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Sleep Talk
- Rest
---
The 2nd straight from smogon Poke I've tried. Its a bulky-restalkng Gyarados(the same person who came up with the Yanmega came up with this I do believe) He's actually very reliable and a good wall. takes 3 SE from a +1 DD gyarados to KO him.

The stall

ILiekMudkipz (Celebi) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Leech Seed
- Recover
- Energy Ball
- Psychic
---
The compliment to my Heatran. Makes pokes want to use fire. Leech seed + recover for psuedo hazing/Stall Energy ball over grass knot so i can hit everything equally, and psychic for STAB, though I admit that I don't like Celebi and don't think I run him very well. High def because I already have a special wall, and speed to outrun any other Celibi that dont have Speed EVs

The sweeper

LongCatIsLong (Lucario) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Swords Dance
- Extremespeed
- Close Combat
---
Standar SD Lucario. I really don't like him for some reason. This is the slot i find myself trying to replace most often, its been filled by DDTar, DDmence, BP Jolteon, and several others. Any recommendations would be helpful here. (At least he has a cool picture)

The sleeper

anime378.jpg

DOABARRELROLL (Regice) @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 6 HP/252 Def/176 SAtk/76 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Charge Beam
- Ice Beam
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

The sleeper, both literally and physically. If you take out his counters, then it's often gg. I've 6-0'd and several times 5 or 4-0'd unprepared teams with him. Charge beam gets his Special atk to max and provides a Boltbeam combo and then STAB ice beam + rest/sleep talk is insane. the Sdef EVs give him an even 500 Sdef and the max DEF helps him take physical hits(which he does not do well at all) the HP gives him 303, enough to take two Seismic tosses from Blissey before resting.

As I said, This is still just a work in progress based on an old team. My biggest problems usually come from Suicune, everything else has a very solid counter. Any advice would be appreciated, and any questions/comments just ask away

Two restalkers seem a little redundant to me really, I'd consider running BulkyGyara from the analysis over the one that you currently have, that way you can Taunt those Ice Beaming Suicune so that it doesnt pose too mcuh of an issue, and HP Electric varients are pretty much walled by Celebi, although you might want to consider running a CM Celebi to help counter it a little better, as you cant really do much to Resting Cune without it. Grass Knot is generally better in OU than Energy Ball as well as the majority of the time it has a superior Base Power.

OK as for Lucario, he does quite severly add to your Fire and Fighting wekanesses (fighting is not so bad as you have 3 resists) but lets find something that can threaten but can also come in on Fire well,... Well, DDTar wouldn't be such a bad idea for you as it can come in well on Scarf Tran and set up and also will give you a Double DD situation with GYarados, which I find to be a useful tactic, or you could run good old CB Tar. You could also try you own Suicune, perhaps a Rest set that can outstall Blissey (as very few run Seismic Toss these days) So there are your option, personally I would go with DDTar as he packs at least a little more of the destructive power that Lucario would give you.

Another great idea would be to keep Lucario and Change your Reigce to a Calm Mind Slowbro, this will help patch up both Fighting and Fire Weakneses and means that you aren't depending on the Charge beam for boosts, also Regice's Stealth Rock weakness doesn't help it out. so If you change that to Slowbro it will just help your synery a little. If fighters haven't been a problem try Suicune as well.

Anyway sorry if that rate wasn't too good. I hope that at least some of it helped and i gave you a few ideas at least. If you are having any more specific problems feel free to come back and ask.

Stealth Rock works okay on Heatran because he does have that potential to scare the opponent into switching, but likely the switch will be to an immediate counter and you won't have a chance to outspeed enough to launch a counterattack. For this reason, Life Orb isn't really preferable on Heatran, because you'll waste your 10% every turn on NVE attacks. It might be more consistent with the rest of your team to run Substitute and Leftovers rather than SR and LO.

Keep in mind that Baton Pass is always an option on your Yanmega if you want a support lead that can still dish out damage when needed, unlike Ninjask.

If Hypnosis is more a filler than a serious move on Yanmega, you should go with Air Slash. It's wonders against other Bug-types, and it's something that let's you hit Flying-Pokés and Levitators such as Gengar.

In the D/P-days, I was a frequent user of a LO-Heatran, and I really thought it was great. However, I often found Heatran to be a necessary defensive Poké on my (offensive, I should say) team. With all the Spikes and SR all over the place these days, you often might want heatran to be alive, or at least live a bit longer. For that reason, I will suggest giving it a Timid nature, and Leftovers over Life Orb. Explosion is simply a last-resort move anyway, and you're still most likely to take something down with you.

As for Gyarados, I personally find Dragon Dance to be a better choice over Stone Edge, since you with Impish and 0 Atk EVs are quite weak, actually. With all that Defense, you might as well get off the extra DD needed to sweep. Also, that Gyarados is the #1 counter to the 2 most used Pokémon in the game; Scizor and Heatran, so I would not get rid of it, seing as those two can seriously mess up your team otherwise.

When using a Jolly Lucario, I would really advise using Ice Punch or Stone Edge (or perhaps even both?), since the only real reason to go Jolly is to outspeed Gliscor, Salamence and Zapdos. Stone Edge will OHKO the two latter after a SD (even after Intimidate in Mence's case), while Ice Punch OHKOs the two former, and also Zapdos unless it invest a lot in Defense.
The advantage of Stone Edge is that you also OHKO most Gyarados (87% minimum to Impish 216/252 Gyarados), even after Intimidate, and that can give you a surprise KO, as Gyarados is one of the best Lucario-counters there is.

Apart from all of that, seems like a quite solid team. I will say a well-played Heracross is your biggest issue, as it OHKOs 5 of your Pokés, and 2HKOs Gyarados with Stone Edge. If you predict well, it will most likely not be a problem, but you do have to be alert to its presence.

The changes i've made are as follows:

Added Air slash over hypnosis for Yanmega

Changed Heatran to Timid and leftovers > life orb

Gave Gyarados DD and Taunt > rest/sleep talk

Gave celebi CM over Psychic, and changed Energy ball to Grass knot

Changed Crunch on Lucario to Ice Punch

Turned Regice into this:

Slowbro (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/6/Spd
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam
- Slack Off
- Hidden Power [Electric]

The only thing that worries me is two CMers on the same team?

OK yes I agree with you, looking back, two CMers seems a little over the top, what with all of the setting up and everything, but Calm Mind was really an after thought on Celebi to help you deal with Suicune. Perhaps what you could do is try to run the Calm Mind Shuffle set for Suicune onthe anaysis, that way you can Roar out other Suicune that are trying to set up too. That way you don't need to worry about them getting 6 Calm Minds against Celebi, and you can switch Calm Mind to Hidden POwer Fire or Hidden POwer Ice, whichever you need most, probably Ice and you have Scizor reasonably well covered.

A fast Hera can deal a lot of damage to this team - nothing switches in safely. so I would either Scarf Heartran or stick in SD Gliscor over...Luke? but as Orion said, predict well and you won't need to.

RaikouLover came up with those yanmega / heatran (maybe gyara too not sure) spreads just for interests sake. Focus sash + defense evs is kind of reduntant in my opinion.

+0 Life orb gyara can 2HKO your gyara i beleive, but you have celebi so thats okay.

Your kind of flygon weak as it can hit everything on your team for supereffective damage.

Without regice you are yanmega weak as well (Yanmega can 2HKO gyara on the switch with air slash and SR i believe). If gyara goes down it OHKOes everything on your team. So maybe CM cune over slowbro (you already have three fighting resists plus cune will help you with t-tar, which is also a problem if you mispredict.

Well, I wanted to test this last night, but for some reason shoddy isn't working at all... I'm going to see how well this team works with the first changes i've made, then I'll take panamaxis and thorns ideas into account. I'll post results after i've had a few battles.
