Ana Sand - Sand Team

Hi, Smogon. I want your help in this BW1 Sand team I made, any suggestion is welcome. Preferable with BW1 rules, but not restricted to. Thanks and here we go to the team:

ANA SAND

Tyranitar @ Chople Berry
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 64 SAtk / 192 SDef
Sassy Nature
- Crunch
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
Default Sand-summoner. Acts as the main special wall of the team. Tyranitar have an amazing offensive movepool so I decided to exploit it with 4 attacks, and leave SRock to Heatran. I will mostly bring him to absorb some special attack or to summon Sandstorm again.
Tyranitar achieves super-effective potential against a wide range of types, and with it's amazing defenses and good prediction, it's almost sure he will hit someone for super-effective damage.

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Stealth Rock
Usually I lead with him thanks to Stealth Rock. People tend to think I will lead with Tyranitar and also expect him to be S. Rocker.
Mid-game, Heatran enters against something he resists, and then he either uses Stealth Rock or spams Fire Blast, basically... HP-Grass it's great to surprise Water, specially Water/Ground enemies when viable.

Landorus (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Sand Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
Landorus is here because I needed some Poké that resisted Fighting-type moves. The versatility of Earthquake/HP-Ice is nice so I decided not to use Choice Scarf. Basically he will spam the first 3 attacks, specially Earthquake Sand-Force boosted for heavy damage (it rarely gets the opportunity to use SE).

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SDef
Relaxed Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip
Thunder-Wave Ferrothorn to slow down enemies to help Heatran and Tyranitar, as well to create some possible game-changing hax. He comes into some of his wide resistances, and tries to T-Wave if viable (if no Ground-Poke will come) otherwise puts Spikes into the field. If durability is needed he have Leech Seed, and may attempt to kill with Power Whip, as Ferrothorn has some respectable Atk.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Substitute
Latias brings speed to this slow team. She can come in safely into a lot of attacks, brings her Subs up, start CM-ing and then destroy with Dragon Pulse / HP-Fire, which gives the best coverage 2 moves could have. I also may use her as a revenge killer (when the enemy is at low HP) thanks to her excellent speed.

Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Trick
I needed some Water and Ice resistance, as well as some more Speed and flexibility in the team, and guess who comes to fit like a glove the team? Rotom-W have awesome typing and is a good Scarfer as he may Trick the enemy and give versatility to the team as well as Speed. And also having devastating power in the Rain.

-------------------------------------------------------

Sorry for the short descriptions: but the team itself have little planning anyway, I just wrote what there is to be written. But the team works well together anyway, it needs to be upgraded but I can't see any specific weakpoint to be changed.

Thanks again!

Hey there,

Pretty cool BW1 team, and its really weird how it feels like that metagame was ages ago. Anyways onto the rate. This team seems like the solid BW1 sand team, but has a pretty large weakness to HP Ground Volcarona. Volcarona can setup on a large amount of your team (especially if it has lum berry), and if your Rotom-W is damaged/no longer has its Scarf it can sweep right through you. Similarly DD Moxie Mence seems very threatening if Heatran's balloon is broken. To help with this I would suggest switching the roles of your Rotom-W and Landorus. By making Landorus Choice Scarfed, you can effectively check Volcarona and DD Mence. If you make Landorus Scarfed, I would then change Rotom-W to a bulky Will-O-Wisp set. This gives a solid pivot that can work off of Landorus really well. It also has a lot of bulk and is a very good check to rain, taking pressure off of Ferrothorn. Also a minor moveset nitpick, I would replace Substitute with Recover on Latias. This gives Latias the ability to come in and set up easier, and gives it much more longevity. I think your team would prefer keeping HP Fire, but if you really value Substitute you can run Recover over HP Fire. You also have some decent lures for Pokemon like Gastrodon so the lack of Substitute shouldn't be too huge. Hope I helped.
