Andy you're a Starmie Pt.2

Ok guys, so I tried my best to stay away from SS teams. But to be honest, It's my calling. The coolest types in my opinion are Steel, and some of the best defensive pokes are ground, steel, and rock. Now given they all have major weaknesses, but when you then great synergy flowing. It's like art. The team I ended up with is basically a stall team from hell. Or at least that's what it's been doing. I know this teams not the best, but I haven't seen one like it around. I even feel bad disclosing it to everyone, but here it is. Enjoy.

Andy @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Modest
EVs: HP 4, S.Atk 252, Spd 252
-Surf
-Psychic
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt

Andy, you are quite the star. First poke out and he can OHKO just about anything. The moveset he has covers 11 of 16 types, pretty decent. And given the element of suprise, he can sweep half a team before they realize it's not an average Starmie set. Rapid spin was an option, but he's basically a suicide lead. Trying to force out a dragon, or just dwindling they're team down to tip the game in my favor.

450.png

Hiphoppotas @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
Nature: Sassy
EVs: HP 252, Def. 148, S.Def. 108
-Stockpile
-Slackoff
-Roar
-Stealth Rock

I try to switch Hippowdon in when he would be unwanted. 1 Stockpile and he's tough, after that 2 stockpile and a slack off and he's a tank. He's my stall phazer. And I rely on him like I've seen most rely on a Skarmory. There's really not much to say about him. I try to keep him roaring as long as possible, trying to kill a Volcorona or two, and switching in Ferrothorn when possible to add on spikes.

462.png

Robot Rock @ Salac Berry
Ability: Magnet Pull
Nature: Timid
EVs: HP 28, S. Atk 252, Spd. 228
-Substitute
-Charge Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power Ice

Robot Rock stays in the back until he sees Ferrothorn or Skarmory. Something steel to snag onto and raise his S.Atk to. Waiting for the salac berry to kick in, after as many charge beams as I can get off. After which point this guy can take out nearly a whole team.

385.png

Col. Mustard @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
Nature: Impish
EVs: HP 252, Def. 60, S.Def. 100
-Wish
-Iron Head
-Fire Punch
-Ice Punch

After running into enough Jirachi's as leads and supports I tried it. He seems hit and miss to me. Sometimes he can nurture the whole team back to health. Sometimes he's just a problem, seeing as how I already have 2 other Steel types. I'm just not sure I want to keep him but i'm not sure how I should replace him. And I'm afraid any other wisher would be to fragile. :/ (help, lol)

579.png

Ryleigh @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Coat
Nature: Bold
EVs: HP 252, S.Atk 252, S.Def 4
-Recover
-Calm Mind
-Psychic
-Shadow Ball

Reuniclus is a SS users best friend. Another abuser of the stall method. Switch him in at the right moment and he can stall all day long. Being unaffected by leech seed and toxic. Although I wonder if there is a better stall moveset for him.

Whacky Wailing Arm Inflatable Tube Man @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: HP 252, Def. 168, S.Def. 88
-Leech Seed
-Thunder Wave
-Spikes
-Protect

And the last of my stallers. I chose TW over Toxic because people usually pull out their own Ferrothorn when they see the other persons. Some kind of "mine's bigger syndome" I guess. As for his moveset, you guys know the drill with him.

That's how it goes, and i do like this team. I just know that I could possibly take out 1 to 2 pokes for others, I'm just afraid of switching it too much and losing the synergy. That's the main focus of my play, Synergy. As for threats, I absolutely hate facing Brelooms, at any given time of day with any poke. I would like a way to just annihilate him with a switch in but dunno how. Open to suggestions, thanks guys.

Just a general tip, movesets are easier to read if you use this:

Pokemon @ Item
Trait: Ability
[whatever it is] Nature
EVs: [HP/Atk/Def/SpA/SpD/Spe]
-Move 1
-Move 2
-Move 3
-Move 4

Eg:

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
Relaxed Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
-Leech Seed
-Spikes
-Thunder Wave
-Protect

Unfortunately, I can't offer a rate at this time. Sorry

Well, this is just a superficial glance but on Starmie definitely go with Timid over Modest. You really want to outspeed the base 108s, Lati@s, and the Genies, and tie with other Starmies. The extra power doesn't even come close to the benefit of that Speed. Starmie's advantage is that it's the fastest thing in OU besides Deoxys, and you want to abuse that aspect of Starmie, not put his high Speed to waste. Since you're losing the power from Modest go with Hydro Pump over Surf, and switch Psychic for Recover as you're already losing 16% health per turn from LO+SS.

I really think a Tyranitar can do better over Hippowdon, and here's why. That tank Hippowdon set is Taunt bait. You run no attacks, so you can't even kill anything with it. Roaring out threats is cool, but you're going to run out of PP before you do anything with Hippowdon. Tyranitar, however, cures your Volcarona weakness with Stone Edge. The set I recommend is:

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Careful, 252 HP, 4 Atk, 252 SDef
-Stealth Rock
-Stone Edge
-Superpower
-Crunch/Pursuit

Usually isn't 2KOd by Bug Buzz, but still try to switch it in on something else. Pursuit wastes Lati@s, but Crunch can 2KO Reuniclus with a little prior damage. Adamant is okay too on this set for the guaranteed Reuniclus 2KO. Hippowdon does nothing for your team.

Salac Berry is illegal in non-Dream World play, as it's not released. Leftovers will work nicely. Hidden Power Fire over ice to roast Scizor and Ferrothorn, as Dragons can just switch out or OHKO you, as they're still faster and can Earthquake/Fire Blast you.

On Jirachi, get rid of that Life Orb. Jirachi is fantastically bulky and you're wasting its bulk with LO. Get some Leftovers and replace Ice Punch for Body Slam to Paralyze things, most notably Dragons. You can still revenge most Dragons with Starmie anyway.

Excadrill is now your worst enemy. Maybe Skarmory over Ferrothorn? Skarmory has more reliable recovery, can Spike like Ferro does, can Phaze like Hippowdon used to do if you replace him, covers Excadrill, and since Jirachi's taking up the paralysis you can afford not to use Thunder wave. Max Defense/HP, Brave Bird/Roost/Spikes/Whirlwind.

Reuniclus might want to have max Defense over Special Attack, as it wants to take hits. If you're determined to keep power then try Life Orb over Leftovers, but please max out that Defense. It lets Reuniclus set up on so much more. Use Focus Blast, too, or Tyranitar nukes you.

As a future reference, try not to use 4 non-attacking moves on a Pokemon. All Pokemon really appreciate a way to deal direct damage, even if it's not much. It's rare that a fourth defensive move will help you and an attacking move can put pressure on Taunters. Good luck with the team!

That's exactly how I ordered them.

Detroitcat- Thank you, that's the info i needed. I need to analyze my own team, I'm just really bad at it.

Since Jirachi is expendable, and since you already have 2 steel-type pokes, and since you need a spinblocker so that no one spins away your hazards, I recommend Jellicent. It is water-type, has good special bulk, can take any water moves aimed at the sand hippo, and its ghost type aids in spinblocking. However, if you need the wish support Blissey is a good choice
Oh yes and if you do decide to keep Jirachi, I advise change its EVs to Specially Defensive, since you already have 1 defensive and another well-rounded poke

a choice band terrakion will almost 2hko everything on your team so you could mayby replace rachi or zone with a standard gliscor 252 hp 220 def 36 spd eq/protect/sd/ice fang otherwise a very nice team
