Another First OU Team

As the title suggests, this is my first OU team. I bet you guys get a lot of those around here. Anyway, this is a team I built before Pokebank came out. I've played it since, and it seems to work pretty well, but I'm looking for ways to improve it. The idea for this team came when I saw people talking about how Zygarde was weak, and truth be told, it is, at least when you compare it to Yveltal and Xerneas. It's not Ubers material, but it's certainly won me many a match. Anyway, on with the team.

===============================

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
This thing is a lot of fun to play around with. I almost always lead with it, and it almost always sets up at least one layer of Spikes, often more. I love Protean because it allows me to play mind games with my opponent. It's surprising how many lead Rotom-W I've come across who try to Volt Switch only to find I'm suddenly immune after using Spikes. Usually they then try to Hydro Pump, while I become Water-type again to take the hit, then I set up another layer of Spikes as they try to Volt Switch again. HP Fire is useful for getting the drop on Ferrothorn who think I can't touch them. Dark Pulse is probably the least useful move on the set, but it sometimes comes in handy for killing off weakened mons, like the aforementioned Rotom-W.

Zygarde @ Leftovers
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Coil
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed
- Dragon Tail
And here's what the team was built around, Zygarde. Personally I think it's quite underrated, people always compare it to Yveltal and Xerneas, but forget about Zygarde's strength in OU. This thing has swept teams for me before, and it's surprisingly bulky. I've seen it survive unSTABed Ice moves, and Coil only improves its bulk. Earthquake is just a really good move, Dragon Tail is for when I just want something out of there, and Extreme Speed provides priority which I've found very useful in last poke situations or just when I need to pick something off, as people tend to forget Zygarde has it.

gengar.gif

Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Destiny Bond
Since I built the team before Gengarite was banned, this was originally a Mega Gengar. When the ban took effect I basically slapped a Life Orb on this thing and called it a day. Yet, it still works very well. While not as fast as its Mega, Gengar is still very fast and powerful. Shadow Ball and Sludge Wave for STAB, plus Focus Blast if I need to hit things like Tyranitar and Heatran. Destiny Bond admittedly isn't used often, I only really use it when Gengar isn't needed anymore and/or there's something the rest of my team can't deal with.

scizor-mega.gif

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 12 Atk / 244 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- Swords Dance
- Bug Bite
Before the Gengarite ban, this was a Choice Band Scizor. After the ban, I decided to keep things simple and make Scizor my new Mega. I'm quite fond of this thing's bulk, that combined with Roost means it's usually around for a while. You should all know why Bullet Punch is there, and Bug Bite for a secondary, more powerful STAB. Personally I prefer this over CB because I dislike not being able to switch moves, but sometimes I find myself missing U-Turn's utility and synergy with Rotom-W.

rotom-wash.gif

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 28 SAtk / 232 SDef
Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split
Sometims I wonder where the metagame would be without Rotom-W. I see this thing on almost every team, and it's no wonder, as Rotom is very good at its job. Before Pokebank I ran Assault Vest Rotom, but found it underwhelming, especially lacking the recovery Pain Split provides. This set is mostly self-explanatory, Hydro Pump to be a powerful move, Volt Switch to keep momentum and give Rotom use as a pivot, Will-O-Wisp to hurt physical attackers and provide passive damage on other thing, and Pain Split for recovery.

tyrantrum.gif

Tyrantrum @ Focus Sash
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Head Smash
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake
This is the Pokemon I'm not too sure about. I originally put it on the team so I could have a Stealth Rock setter, but Tyrantrum rarely gets the job done. In fact, what I usually end up using Tyrantrum for is sacrificing it to revenge stuff like Volcarona, as it survives a hit thanks to Focus Sash and then KOs with Head Smash. Tyrantrum is generally useless, and honestly I'd really like something to replace it.

So there you have it. That's the team. If you have any suggestions please tell me, I'd really love to see this team excel.

Hello there. Pretty nice team here. If you find still Rock Head-less c'mon Gamefreak Tyrantrum inadequate, I suggest replacing Tyrantrum with Garchomp. Garchomp can provide offensive pressure and generally forces out a lot of stuff, giving you a free turn to set up rocks. You should also move those 4 Atk EVs on Gengar to HP or Def. Also if Destiny Bond isn't really that used, I think you should replace Gengar's Destiny Bond with Taunt. Taunt gives you a way to break stall (for a while) giving you switch in opportunities. Another viable option would be TBolt as it hits Skarm and Keldeo harder. Substitute deserves a mention as well because a Gengar behind a sub is scary but with Life Orb recoil, he'll loose health rather quickly.
Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Claw / Outrage
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
Hope I helped and good luck with your team!
