Another Goth Team (Peaked #9 on PS!)

Hello Smogon and welcome to my RMT. This is my best UU team and I was bored so I thought I would RMT so others can see it too. I peaked #9 on the PS! ladde using this team with a record of 65 wins and 8 losses. This team I find to be really fun to use and it wins a lot which always makes the game more fun. I guess people are going to want to know how this team came to be. Well I took a 2 week or so break from pokemon and came back to see that Shadow Tag Gothitelle was released. So I decided to build a team around it because of its ability to trap counters to other pokemon. Well I had to search for pokemon to use with Gothitelle and everyone was hyping Raikou and Heracross as good teammates for Gothitelle. Then I threw hazards and a random nuke that can also spinblock. And now onto the team.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Toxic

To start things off is Bronzong. Bronzong is so good in UU. Bronzong has been my go to Stealth Rocker for a while now and I am never disappointed. The EV's are to maxizme Bronzong's ability to check Raikou and other special threats. The moveset is standard fare for Bronzong. Stealth Rock is just the best move in the game and needs to be on every team. Gyro Ball is STAB and does damage against fast threats like ScarfCross and Flygon. Earthquake is my main weapon to deal with SubCM Raikou and deals enough to keep Nidoking and Chandelure from switching in. Toxic is there to help me against bulky waters that might stop Heracross from sweeping. Overall Bronzong is a fundamental part to my team.

Qwilfish @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Thunder Wave
- Waterfall

Next up is my favorite spiker Qwilfish. Qwilfish is such a good pokemon with Mienshao dropping down to UU and Heracross getting Moxie. Qwilfish helps me check almost all physcical threats in UU such as Darmanitan, Mienshao, Heracross and many others. The EV's are to maxizime bulk so that I can coushin more hits. Spikes is to help me wear down a bunch of threats in UU and are very easy to set up with Qwilfish while being hard to spin because of Gothitelle and Chanderlure. Taunt is to help me stop slow walls like Bronzong from setting up their Stealth Rocks. Thunder Wave helps me when I can't think of what they are going to switch in and it helps Chanderlure to nuke more things. Waterfall is for constient STAB and can help paraflinch with Thunder Wave. Qwilfish is the best spiker in UU imo and I think more people should use it over Roserade.

Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 SDef / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Overheat
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Shadow Ball
Here is Chandelure. One of the deadliest pokemon in all of UU. Chandelure serves as the teams Spinblocker and Flash Fire user which is always helpful. Chandelure is holding choice specs so that it can nuke the other team as almost everything is 2hkoed by this monster. The ev's are for max speed and power. Overheat is the strongest option and is normally used to dent holes early on. Fire Blast is a slightly weaker alternative if the other team is using a trapper. Hidden Power [Fighting] is my best way to do damage to Porygon2 and Snorlax and is the only way that I will not be walled by them. Shadow is STAB and dents bulky waters that like to switch in on a predicted Fire move. Chandelure is probably one of my favorite pokemon in UU atm.
heracross.png

Heracross @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
ScarfMoxie Heracross. What A Beast. It just wrecks everything late game after spikes and stealth rocks have worn everyone down enough. With Choice Scarf Heracross outspeeds so much and can make the best use of his Moxie boosts against offensive teams. Max Speed and Attack make me a strong and fast attacker. Close Combat is a strong STAB move to spam if they lack ghost types. Megahorn is really only used to hit Shaymin or to spam if they have several fighting resists. Stone Edge is used to hit Zapdos and Togekiss who can be troubling with their power. Earthquake is my best bet against Qwilfish and Nidoking and can help me sweep against Ground weak teams. Overall Heracross is a fucking monster.
raikou.jpg

Raikou @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 128 HP / 76 Def / 252 Spd / 52 SAtk
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
On to Raikou. SubCM Raikou is to a good sweeper against some teams even though more people are preparing for it. Luckily Gothitelle takes care of them all. Raikou's Evs are so it can survive Scarfgon's U-turn even though that is not all that common anymore. Substitue and Calm Mind are so I can set up on weak special attacks and then just sweep them clean right there. Thunderbolt and Hidden Power [Ice] give me boltbeam coverage and handle most threats. Raikou is a real monster right now if given the right support.

Gothitelle @ Choice Specs
Trait: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Finally the Star of the Team. Gothitelle is a so good. It can trap most of Heracross and Raikou's checks and counters which makes sweeping so much easier. Also with Gothitelle I can trap bulky waters like Blastoise and handle them with Thunderbolt. Gothitelle is ev'd to do good damage while still outspeeding things like Gligar and Golurk. Psychic is STAB and destroys Qwilfish so they can't spike on me. Thunderbolt is mostly for bulky waters and the maybe a flier once in a while. Grass Knot is here for Rhyperior and Swampert two of Raikou's better checks. Hidden Power [Ice] rounds out the set hitting Gligar for 4x damage and OHKO so that Heracross can sweep easier. Everyone should be using this thing.

Well thank you for reading this RMT and I hope you have good day. Please leave some advice or comments on the team or RMT presentation.

Goth teams are freaking crazy. Using a pretty similar team, so hopefully I can give you solid advice. First off, I'd use Psyshock over Psychic on Gothitella. It 2HKO's Snorlax, who is a top notch counter to Raikou. Second, ironically your team could have a little trouble with TrickScarf Goth. It can trap, outspeed, and KO Qwilfish with Psychic and Chandelure with Shadow Ball. Additionally, it can trap Heracross locked into Close Combat, and ruin your Bronzong with Trick. I suggest changing your nuke to Scarf Darmanitan. It hits really hard, and it's counters are also removed by your Specs Goth. I understand you're using Goth as a spinblocker, but Goth traps and KO's the common spinners, so you don't have to much to worry about. Scarf Darm also plays very differently from Scarf Cross, because where as Heracross cleans up, Darm blows holes, plus really gives you momentum with U-Turn. Nothing beats a free switch to Gothitella right as a major counter comes out. Lastly, as a purely formatting note, your sets would be easier to read if you put the EVs in this order: HP/Atk/Def/Sp Atk/Sp Def/Spe. The abbreviations are up to you, or you can spell them out, just please don't abbreviate Speed "Spd" because it is easy to mistake for Special Defense. Again, this doesn't matter too much, it just helps the presentation a lot. Good luck!

Hi, this is a solid team, especially since it has the Bronzong-Qwilfish core that I simply adore. Unfortunately, this core is broken apart by Zapdos, with Bronzong able to do almost nothing to it while getting hit hard by Heat Wave, while Qwilfish, obviously, gets destroyed by Thunderbolt. Everytime Zapdos is coming in, something is going to get hurt, and if you're sending in Raikou everytime to take it's attacks, along with Stealth Rock, Raikou is going to get worn down pretty quickly. Nidoking is possibly an even greater threat, with it's coverage it's not even going to care about Raikou and can waltz in on things like Heracross or Thunderbolt locked Gothitelle. In the lead position, these threats will cause even greater damage. For these reasons, both Bulky and Specs Rotom-H over Chandelure would complement your team well as it checks both threats and can also take down some of Raikou's checks/counters. Volt Switch also takes advantage of the hazards you lay down by forcing switches and is helpful in guaranteeing a Gothitelle trap. You may lose the role of spinblocker, but Gothitelle can take care of both Blastoise and Hitmontop with Thunderbolt and Psychic respectively without much consequence, leaving you free to lay your hazards again. Spinning in general isn't too popular, and with the offensive nature of your team, there shouldn't be too many opportunities to spin anyway. Gratz on your success so far and hope this rate will help!
