Another Rain Team...

Hi there! I've been playing a lot on the PO servers recently, and have started using a weather team. I've had some level of success with this team, but not as much as I've had in 4th gen.

Also, I don't exactly know how to include an image in this post, so the images I post below may or may not show.

Vaporeon (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Hydration
EVs: 176 Def / 252 SAtk / 80 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Rest

Yesterday while surfing on the forums, I noticed Smurf's thread about a lead Vaporeon, and I decided to try it since I didn't want my (original lead) Politoed to die right at the beginning of the match. Vaporeon can 3HKO Evolite Chansey in rain with Hydro Pump, and can easily rest off any damage (in rain). It's very useful in the early and late metagame as it can severely cripple almost any pokemon that doesn't resist a 350 sp.atk Hydro Pump.

Latios (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Surf
- Calm Mind
- Recover

The first thing you probably notice is the weird EV Spread for Latios. 252 Def allows him to tank an Ice Shard from an non-choiced Mammoswine, Weavile, and Abomasnow. Mainly Abomasnow, which often starts a weather war with this team. Latios still has the devastating ability to deal major damage after a Calm Mind, despite the noticeable Special Attack Drop. Surf does more damage than Dragon Pulse in rain, and hits really hard on anyone who doesn't resist it, barring Blissey and Evolite Chansey.

File:212Scizor.png

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Quick Attack
- Superpower

I've used a Scizor-Latias core in 4th gen. Before Latias was banned, that is... The Scizor-Latios core is a really, really offensive core in mid-metagame and late metagame (if Scizor survives). U-turn spam on pokemon with low HP often causes switches, most of which Latios can handle fine. Bullet Punch can clean up later in the metagame. The reason why I have Quick Attack on here is to hit some water pokemon more effectively.

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 140 HP / 252 SAtk / 116 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Hydro Pump
- Trick
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Rotom-W is EV'd to outrun a Thundurus and either trick him or kill him. 140 EVs in HP makes it bulky enough to survive a SeedBomb from Breloom at just over 50%. Rotom can also cripple Chanseys and Blisseys and Ferrothorn with a rather predictable Trick, but especially Ferrothorns, which will receive a HP Fire in the face after they're tricked.

Politoed (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 220 HP / 255 SAtk / 32 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Perish Song

This is the rain starter... not much to talk about... Well, the HP spread allows it to survive a boosted Thunderbolt from Genesect... Perish Song can break stalls, and has saved me on various occasions.... well... not much else to talk about :P

File:195Quagsire.png

Quagsire (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Stockpile

Quagsire reminds me of 4th gen, when stall was still very common. After stockpile is maxed out, he tank take on ANY unboosted attack! Earthquake and Ice punch slowly wear down the opponent's pokemon. While recover lets it gain back any lost health. I'm considerint Toxic over Earthquake at the moment.

Threats:

Chansey: Chansey is really annoying, since Latios lacks Psycoshock, and most of my team is special oriented.

Blissey: See Chansey.

Ferrothorn: Even with Rotom, Ferrothorn is still annoying.

Thundurus: I find it really hard to kill this guy without sacrificing atleast one pokemon or making that said pokemon paralyzed (if Quagsire is dead).
