Another Sandstorm Team (Peaked #92)

Ani248MS.png

Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 180 SAtk / 76 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Crunch
- Fire Blast
- Superpower

Tyranitar fills in many valuable roles on the team, including weather summoner, Stealth Rock support, mixed attacker, and special wall. Crunch is for a reliable STAB, while Fire Blast prevents me from being walled from Ferrothorn/Skarm/Forretress, and Superpower is for opposing Tyranitar, and Terrakion

Ani094MS.png

Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Pain Split
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

He has nice synergy with Tyranitar, taking the Fighting, Ground, Grass and Bug types aimed at Tyranitar, and he returns the favor by taking the Psychic/Shadow/Dark types aimed at Gengar. He helps against stall by Sub + Pain Spliting, like on Blissey/Chansey. Shadow Ball is for STAB, while Focus Blast is for perfect neutral coverage.

Reuniclus (M) @ Life Orb (Leftovers?)
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball

My special set-up sweeper, it can take a hit thanks to the EVs making it bulky. CM on something that doesn't pose too much of a threat. Calm mind + Recover is self-explanatory, and Psychic is for STAB. Shadow Ball over Focus Blast because I don't like the chance of it missing.

Ani479WMS.png

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Trick

This is part one of two of my combo, where Volt Switch + U-turn provide nice coverage. But besides that, Hydro Pump is for STAB, and hits those ground types hard who think they can switch into a Volt Switch, while HP Fire is mostly for Ferrothorn, but also for Scizor, since Rotom-W is a great counter. Trick is for when I smell a wall coming in. I opted for Modest for the power, but should I run Timid for any reason?

Landorus (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sand Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Hammer Arm

This is part two of the combo, since it's like a U-turn team combo, which is hard to predict when I'm going to EQ and when I'm U-turning out. He gets a Life orb boost in sandstorm thanks to Sand Force, but no recoil! The moves are simple, the first two completing the EdgeQuake combo, U-turn for the Rotom-W/Landorus duo, and Hammer Arm to nail those Air Balloon users + Hydreigon.

Excadrill (M) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Brick Break
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

The newest member of the team, he is a staple for most sandstorm teams, and it's obvious why. His main purpose of me adding him however, was to counter other Excadrills, spefically Adamant natured ones. 156 speed EVs is to be faster then neutral nature/252 speed EV Excadrills, but should should I drop the HP EVs and dump them into Speed EVs?

Regirock @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Curse
- Rest
- Rock Slide
- Sleep Talk

The set was fine, it was just I was Excadrill weak, and it shared too many weaknesses with the rest of my team. Also, if sandstorm wasn't active, it was pretty much dead weight. I mean, it's by no means bad, it was just not right for the team. It IS pretty hard to take down something with 364 HP / 436 Def (No curses) / 492 SDef (SS) + Rest

Will finish threat list later, tried to delete something, but it made me go back a page and really don't wanna go through the whole thing again.

I am aware that the list is missing, it's just I have 111 images, 11 over the allowed 100, so I'm taking some pictures off. (offensive AND defensive)

Hey this is a nice team. I think you could replace Excadrill for Skarmory which would give you spikes support making the Landorus + Rotom-w combo even more effective. It counters Excadrill rather well though a last mon Excadrill with balloon could be a problem so I'd definitely run Focus Blast > Shadow Ball on Reuniclus, which also isn't total Tyranitar bait. Skarmory also helps you deal with Terrakion better who could grab a rock polish boost and then sweep if Reuniclus and Landorus had just a little prior damage. Skarmory also brings a nice Garchomp counter since before, Garchomp would be netting a KO everytime it got a sub which it could easily find time to do against Tyranitar or Landorus/Rotom-w locked into the wrong attack. You won't really miss Excadrills revenging capabilities with two scarfers, and it's not like Excadrill was sweeping without a better way to remove Gliscor/Rotom/Skarmory.

Skarmory @ Leftovers | Sturdy
Impish | 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spe
Brave Bird / Roost / Spikes / Whirlwind

The speed EVs are to be able to Roost faster than CB Tyranitar's Stone Edges since Excadrill was your only rock resist, though Skarmory still takes on rock attacks better. Brave Bird gives you a good shot at beating last mon Excadrill and is good for popping balloons on it and things like Heatran. You don't really need Taunt with a sub/split Gengar and CM Reuniclus to deal with stall anyway.

Yes, and do you know why? Remember, you said the main purpose of this Excadrill was to counter other Excadrills, and that's probably why you went with Brick Break over X-Scissor: to counter Air Balloon. But since it's most common for people to run Excadrill with 252 Atk and 252 Spd, you're Excadrill counter will be useless. Unless it carries a Sash or a Custap Berry or something interesting like that, you should move the HP EVs to Spd.

Otherwise, great RMT. Good luck with that team.

I think you could replace Excadrill for Skarmory.

As good a sweeper Excadrill is, I agree; Haxchomp is a threat to your team with the right opportunity to Sub up. Those hazards support can make up for your loss of power from losing Excadrill.

Psychics and Ghost/Darks can be dealt with by your other members. Focus Blast can let Reuniclus actually stand a chance against his most common counters, TTar and to an extent, Scizor.
