Anti-Weather

Introduction
Hello, Smogon. I'm fairly new to the competitive battling scene, but I've gotten pretty used to it already. I've been using this team quite often lately and been surprisingly successful. As the title implies, this team is designed to provide numerous checks to the many weather summoners and abusers flying around the tier. So without further ado, here's the team.

The Team

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

The star of the team and the main sweeper. He also helps in fighting sun teams due to them often lacking a lot of moves that can hit him super-effectively. Dragon Dance to boost, obviously. Outrage smashes everything that doesn't resist it, while fire punch and earthquake provide nice coverage. I usually try to send Dragonite into a pokemon that can't do anything to it and Dragon Dance while they switch out. Then, I can usually rip a nice hole in their team before switching back out or just cleaning up their weakened team. Lum Berry is there to negate any burns, paralysis, e.t.c. from ruining my sweep. It's saved me quite few times actually, allowing me to get another Dragon Dance up or another attack out.

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EV's: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power (Ice)
- Stealth Rock

One of the most important members of my team, Heatran is probably the pokemon I send out the most often. It is one of a sun team's worst nightmares and it can wall so many of their pokemon. Fire Blast provides an incredibly strong STAB while Earth Power hits opposing heatran and the like. Hidden Power Ice deals with Gliscor, Landorus, Salamence, e.t.c. while Stealth Rock is there for my only entry hazard and generally something to do while the opponent switches out. Air Balloon is absolutely CRUCIAL for avoiding earthquakes which would otherwise murder it. More often than not, I send Heatran in on a Salamence or something while he Dragon Dances. Because of Air Balloon, he can't really hurt me at all. Outrage is not very effective while Fire Blast is essentially suicide. So he'll most likely switch out if he doesn't want to be OHKO'd by a hidden power ice. I also use him to scare away pokemon like Ferrothorn and Forretress.

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EV's 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin

Starmie spins away any entry hazards for the team. This is especially important considering that Dragonite cannot abuse Multiscale with Stealth Rock on the field, and Rotom-W and Scizor cannot unleash the infamous VoltTurn strategy if they are losing massive amounts of their health for every switch-in. Surf combines with the BoltBeam combo for amazing coverage and it can sweep late-game as well. I send Starmie in whenever entry hazards are bugging me too much or whenever I see a sweeping opportunity because believe me, this thing sure can.

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EV's: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power (Fire)
- Trick

Rotom-W joins forces with Scizor to form the ever popular, yet highly effective VoltTurn strategy. Choice Scarf makes him a great revenge killer, stopping threats such as Gyarados from wrecking my team. Rotom-W also gives me a huge weapon to use against rain teams, hitting a lot of common pokemon super effectively with Volt Switch and getting a ridiculously powerful Hydro Pump. Volt Switch is their for an electric STAB and the ability to grab momentum. Hydro Pump gives me a powerful water type move while hidden power fire deals heavy damage to pokemon such as Ferrothorn. Trick is there to cripple walls such as the aforementioned Ferrothorn and Blissey.

Virizion @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EV's: 104 Atk / 152 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Giga Drain
- Close Combat
- Hidden Power (Ice)
- Work Up

Virizion is sometimes the least useful poke on my time while at other times he absolutely dominates it. He is an excellent counter to Tyranitar as well as rain teams with his Grass/Fighting typing and excellent Special Defense. The EV's are standard for the mixed sweeper along with a Hasty nature so I can conserve his excellent special defense. Work up boosts both his attack and special attack to respectable levels. Giga Drain is a huge blow to bulky waters, especially Gastrodon, who walls quite a chunk of my team, while providing some healing. Close Combat hits pokemon such as Blissey and Ferrothorn hard while hidden power ice takes out pokemon like Gliscor and Landorus.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EV's: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-Turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit

Scizor is the general glue for the team, completing the VoltTurn strategy and revenge killing dangeous threats like Terrakion. He is also quite sturdy due to the HP EV's and Scizor's natural bulk, so he can take some hits if necessary. U-Turn is a strong momentum grabber that allows me to take advantage of switches because Scizor causes a ton. Bullet Punch allows me to revenge kill pokemon at low health and is an incredibly useful utility move. Superpower nails pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Heatran and Magnezone on the switch while Pursuit traps psychic and ghost types lacking a fire type move. He doesn't really counter weather much, but he provides an invaluable amount of utility to the team and glues it altogether nicely.

Conclusion
So this is my team. Thank you for reading it and please tell me what you think!

Hi, solid team. Now, one Pokemon I can foresee your team struggling against are bulky variants of Volcarona. While Heatran technically walls them, it can't do much in return, while Volcarona can just boost itself to +6/ +6/ +6 and power through with Bug Buzz. One way to mitigate this problem is to swap your Heatran for a Specially Defensive variant. While this means that Scizor now becomes your only way to revenge kill DD Salamence, and Starmie for SD Landorus, they are options nonetheless. Chlorophyll sweepers that carry Earthquake shouldn't be a problem either, as Dragonite has its way with them. In the case of Volcarona, you currently have no way of dealing with bulky variants under the sun. Specially Defensive Heatran can get up Stealth Rock and Roar Volcarona out, essentially dealing 50% damage. Leftovers recovery also allows Heatran to better tank hits from the likes of Latias and Latios and hit them with Toxic.

Now, SubDD Gyarados can potentially run through your team. Rotom-W is a check to most variants, but SubDD Moxie Gyarados can block your Volt Switches, and either DD again or KO the switch-in until either Rotom-W is the last Pokemon left, or Gyarados has accumulated enough boosts to KO Rotom-W. To mitigate this problem, I suggest going with Thunderbolt over Hidden Power Fire. That way, Gyarados can't just stay in and toss up a Substitute whenever Rotom-W comes in. Thunderbolt is also an accurate, spammable STAB that can help you complete a late game sweep. While losing the ability to hit Ferrothorn seems like a disaster on paper, you're much better off Volt Switching to either Heatran or Dragonite.

Finally, Dragonite really really wants Extremespeed to pick off potential revenge killers. Dragonite doesn't really have blazing Speed, and even at +1, a good number of Scarfers still outspeed it. Extremespeed gives you a +2 priority move to say FU to not only scarfers, but other priority users as well. In fact, if you've got Multi Scale in tact, Dragonite can actually defeat Mamoswine! It 2HKOs with Extremespeed, while Mamoswine fails to OHKO in return. I say keep Fire Punch as the coverage move, else your team will become weak to Volt-turn. Earthquake is a nice move against Heatran and all, but between Rotom-W and Starmie, you have Heatran covered.

GL
Specially Defensive Heatran>Air Balloon Heatran
pros: checks bulky Volcarona, better for dealing with Latii twins, provides phazing, better for sponging Meteors and such
cons: less Offensive potentiall, lose temporary Ground immunity

Thunderbolt>Hidden Power Fire on Rotom-W
pros: checks SubDD Gyarados, more spammable STAB
cons: can't hit Ferrothorn anymore, but you're much better off using Volt Switch anyways

Extremespeed>Earthquake on Dragonite
pros: protects Dragonite from frail scarfers/ Pokes who carry priority/ other revenge killers
cons: lose coverage against Heatran, but you can hit them with Rotom-W/ Starmie anyway

Hey

Cool team man, it has a great potential. Although Virizion seems to be the weakest link within your team. It clearly isn't doing much except for being a set up fodder for Celebi, Reuniclus. These Psychic mons can easily set up on Virizion and hit back with SE damages. Fighting mons like Conkeldurr could also be problematic with proper support. Offensive Celebi would be a great replacement for Virizion. It's natural bulk and versatile movepool gives Celebi an upper hand over Virizion. This set works wonders Leaf Storm OHKOs Standard Tyranitar after 2 Stealth Rock Switchins. This set puts an end to Volt-Turn and matches your teams offensive style perfectly. Hidden Power Fire is for steels which may give Celebi hard time, U-turn is to switch out and for scouting opposing teams, Recover could be used over Psychic for coverage but Leaf Storm does its job. For the looks so far Recover is a better option, it allows you heal 50% of your health back from the Life Orb recoil. Celebi can easily U-turn out on opposing Psychic mons for the SE damage and potentially finish them off with Scizor and Dragonite's priority. I have chosen Modest instead of Rash / Mild nature because it will allow Celebi to take some hits in general instead of getting owned.

Celebi @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SAtk / 224 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- U-turn
- Recover

As NWO mentioned earlier Extremespeed is the best move on Dragonite. Although this set is generally less bulky than the bulky Dragon Dance set, it is still fairly easy to set up, thanks to Multiscale boosting Dragonite's bulk. Extremespeed allows him to revenge faster mons with +2 priority which can come in handy against opposing sun teams. Fire Punch should be kept for coverage and to decimate steel mons. Outrage with Lum Berry can deal a lot of damage and is the only primary stab move on the set. Rapid Spin support is essential and your Starmie performs it nicely to make the best use of Multiscale while Dragonite is setting up.

Dragonite (F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- ExtremeSpeed

I don't see the point of running Hidden Power Fire on Rotom-W as it absolutely does nothing to benefit you. HP Ice seems like a better option, it gives you opportunity to revenge Dragons. HP Ice could also be used on Gliscor as it can easily PP stall Hydro Pumps. Volt Switch is a great addition to its movepool, as it allows Rotom-W to both scout for potential counters and hit extremely hard in the process with a stab attack. A Timid nature is important on Rotom-W because when equipped with a Choice Scarf, Rotom-W becomes a solid revenge killer for offensive teams, granting them useful resistances. Since you'll be running HP Ice on Scrotom, Ice Beam has no value whatsoever on Starmie. Psyshock is another great option as it allows you to revenge opposing Gengar who intends to spin block, Virizion so you can keep your Scizor healthy for late game sweeping and you'll have something for opposing Blissey. Surf is the most reliable option, though Hydro Pump is also worth a look in for the increased offensive power. Thunderbolt is given as a critical option for this set, since this is the only way you will be able to hit Jellicent, one of the most popular Ghost-types available. Ice type attack won't be missed on Starmie too much since Rotom-W and Heatran both pack it.
