Anyone here still play Yu-Gi-Oh?

Picked up World Championship 2008 about 2 months ago and spent hours on it. Afterwards I downloaded Stardust Accelerator and managed to tool around with a couple decks on Yu-Gi-Oh Virtual Dueling (downloadable here: http://www.xerocreative.com/index.php?goto=downloads). And with the help of yugioh wikia (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page), I've found that it's rather easy to learn a lot about the game and get into it easily. Anyone here also a fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG?

i just dled yugioh nightmare troubadour for the ds last week. it's actually pretty fun once you get better cards and beat the first cup tournament. the only thing that's gay is that luck screws your ass over royally sometimes, esp. when your opponent always draws monster cards and your field is open to rapage cause you keep on drawing those spell cards.

Then I think the best thing to do would be to tool your deck so that luck doesn't screw you over so often. Trying putting in more monsters.

yup i just did that. i finally got to the experts cup and i just spam gemini elfs and random trap cards and summon summoned skulls. im obviously still new to this game. =p

I stopped playing after the crystal beasts came out. So many new cards came that my deck became a piece of shit, and frankly I was running low on funds to buy more. It was kinda fun though.

Same as olie, about when Gors came out.

If I still have YVD I might be willing to play a few rounds with you though at some later time.

I played when it a few years ago, I started before the transition to the Elemental Hero or whatever douchebags and kinda stayed with it after, but I just stopped once I got older. No real reason other than I didn't know that many people who played and I spent money on other things (essential or 'real life' stuff like my car and insurance, etc.). It was fun for a while though, I ran a rad Vampire/Zombie deck with several foil Vampire Lords, etc.

I had a deck like 3 or 4 years ago when i was 14/15 and it was a fun game. But after that lame elemental hero stuff came out, so many new cards and strategies came out that my deck was rendered useless . Not to mention I wasn't really into it, so I just quit. Still have my deck though.

Lots of continuous magic and trap cards, always trying to keep the advantage with me ( spell/trap card wise ) so I could always calculate whether or not my opponent could fend off an attack or not et cetera.

Black luster soldier envoy of the beginning was my favorite card, and until a spell/trap was placed to take him out when I couldn't block it, he really wrecked havoc. He was much better than his lame Ritual summon counter part too haha.... And thats all I remember about the game other than FRCIKING ELEMNATAALLL HEOROOO. >:|

Let me say this: if my local game shop didn't stop hosting tournaments for about a year-long span a year or two ago, then I probably would not be registered here. Once that happened, going to tournaments became too costly and time-consuming. I wanted something else to waste my time with. That's what led me back to Pokemon. :P

I'm not sure when and if I'll ever get back into the game...

(Lava Golem Burn FTW, baby! Yeah, that's how I rolled back then.)

Wow, in 2003 I liked Yu-Gi-Oh. It was pretty easy, my deck revolved around not letting the opponent set up. In my school I was unbeatable. Then one day my elementary school class went on an excursion to the highschool, I saw some guys playing Magic: The Gathering and I was like THAT'S NOT YU-GI-OH!!!!

Then I played M:TG and never played that other silly kids game again.

I still have fond memories of it though, most hillarious anime ever.

I just loaded my deck with high attack monster cards like Blue-eyes and sacrifice monsters; and high priority trap and magic card chain breakers to protect them.

I ran lockdown burn when I was in elementary school. It was awesome.

People didn't seem to agree with me though. =(

Back when I used to play in 5th grade I ran a Gravity Bind deck combined with United We Stand. Basically it only allowed my opponent to play level 3 and lower monsters. I played any weak monster followed by gravity bind, and then made sure I had 5 monster cards on the field. United We Stand was then used to raise one of my monster's attack by 4000 (800 for each monster on your side of the field).

Later on I tried a Bad Reaction deck. Eye of truth, Snatch Steal, and other cards that caused my opponent to gain life points, combined with Bad Reaction to Sumoochi. The card replaced any life point gains the opponent received with life point damage. With any luck I could have my opponent taking 2000 life point damage at the start of every turn and then follow up with some both players heal X amount cards to finish them off.

After that my school kind of started playing in an unorthodox way. We stopped using sacrifices and fusion decks. We simply played with only the strongest monsters and spell cards. It was pretty fun playing without sacrifices and it made games take much less time. Of course this caused me to look back through my collection in search of stronger cards and I then found my old Gravity Bind card. After I found it I started using it again. Within a few weeks everyone decided to go back to playing the normal way so that I wouldn't ruin them with a single card.

I would get back into Yu-Gi-Oh but I dislike the online simulators. They aren't as user friendly as Shoddy. The metagame also changes too quickly. I really dislike that not even a single card from my old collection would be remotely usable in today's metagame.

I stopped playing about 2 or 3 years ago about the time when Chaos Sorceror got banned. I enjoyed it while I played but I got it handed to me most of the time. Still have my Macro Cosmos deck :)

Now that cards like Change of Heart, Black Hole etc. are banned, what's a good starter deck that carries essential general support cards?

The Monarch and Zombie structures are decent, but the archetypes they support are not doing so well nowadays.

Really, one would think with all the themes like Gladiator Beats and Lightsworn that there would be increased opportunities for structure decks but noooo not profitable too easy for the common man to grab ahold of broken cards

Ah, I grew up with my cousins who all used illegal/fake cards and who exploited my ignorance of the rules to rub their victories in my face. In general, it kinda threw me off the "liking Yu-Gi-Oh" path forever.

I used to play it a lot relatively recently, but I've gone back out of the phase, I am however tempted to use that link and play online in the same way as pokemon. Anyway water decks ftw! :)

I played loads and updated my decks all the time, right up until I ran out of anybody to play against lol.
I didn't know about internet playing at the time and so much has changed since I last played, I am too intimidated to start again xD

I played online on a chinese site for quite a while. I played the real thing before then pretty much all throughout high school, especially in Hong Kong as it wasn't seen as geeky but normal. It was my obsession. Big part of my life really (and sadly). I really wanted to play again but A. I feel so behind and B. I actually want a good simulation site/simulator and not have to use crap like YVD.

I think I should download the new game on my DS. It really does bring back a lot of memories with some great friends of mine. From time to time I still think about card combinations or deck concepts. If I feel like randomly babbling something to clear my head, yu-gi-oh stuff is often included. Yeah, I should really play again.

Actually YVD isn't that bad, its just abit manual. I stopped since Crimson Crisis (which isn't that long ago), and let me guess Blackwing is the top deck now?

i used to play regulary on Yu Gi Oh online (which wasent cheap main reason i stoped) and lightsworn/burn decks where just about all i encounterd meaning it was praticly impossible to win with the crap ytou get at the start but i had a deck that if i set up i almost allways won it (horus lockdown) which was a total beast when i combined it with an armed dragon set it did sometimes put my opponents into a panic due to for burn they cant use spells/traps because of horus/(something i fergot the name of) and my armed dragons just killing off all thire monsters with abalitys meaning lightsworn couldent get going
