XY UU Anywhere But Here

Introduction:

What's up UU tier! My name is Brawlfest, and if you frequent NU often, you know me! If you don't, I am a resident of BW NU, and spend the majority of my time and effort over there rating any team I can find, and making shit tons of NU RMTs. That said, I've done some dabbling in XY UU, and created this team around the true threat that is DD Zygarde. Due to virtue of it's great typing, amazing bulk, and solid offensive presence, it can pull sweeps against unprepared teams, and is one of the more underrated pokemon in the current tier. I've also decided to utilize this team to pay homage my favorite album by one of my favorite bands, Anywhere But Here, by Mayday Parade. With deep lyrics, great vocals, and amazingly executed music, it holds as one of my most beloved albums. Either way, another underrated threat I am abusing is Doublade, whom is by far my favorite UU pokemon at the moment, being so anti-meta, and beating some of UU's best pokemon such as Hawlucha, Haxorus, and Mienshao with absolutely no issue. Without further ado, here is Anywhere but here!
___________________

Strategy:
The team attempts to utilize as many top UU threats as possible to facilitate Zygarde's sweep. Typically we lead off against any given team with either Celebi, Mienshao, or Tornadus-T. Preferably Tornadus-T against weather, Celebi on stall, and Mienshao against Voltturn / Hyper Offense, but remember that these are not golden rules, and that the number one method of leading is analysis. Afterwards, you want to utilize a combination of Doublade, Mienshao, and Blastoise to constantly wear down the opponent. It is actually a fairly tactic. One thing to note is that if the opponent gets fiesty with his attacks, the team can go completely defensive between Doublade and Celebi, which is always nice to keep sweepers at bay. And finally, once relevant threats are removed, send out Zygarde on any given physical attacker, and prepare to clean.

Zygarde @ Leftovers / Lum Berry
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- ExtremeSpeed

The big daddy of them all. Zygarde. Possibly one of the most overpowered pokemon in all of UU, and yet he is still inconceivably underrated. I decided to build around him not only because of how surprisingly strong he is to many players on the ladder, but also because of how different he is from your average setup sweeper. With 108 / 121 / 95 defenses, he is not only good in terms of tanking, but he is outstanding, easily pulling off boosts against even strong attackers, and allowing itself to sweep. Between this and the fact that it still has a great 100 base attack and a respectably 95 base speed, it is an absolute monster. It also has an amazing STAB combination in Earthquake and Outrage, covering the majority if not the entire tier bar Bronzong neutrally, and packing a rather strong Extremespeed to continue to nuke revenge killers is fucking awesome as well. As a whole, Zygarde goes above and beyond all expectations I have for a setup sweeper, and is truly an amazing pokemon in the current UU metagame, and eclipses threats such as Haxorus and Salamence simply due to its ease of setup in comparison to those weak dragons that ain't got shit on the Z.

Secret love, my escape
Take me far far away
Secret love, are you there
Will you answer my prayer
Please take me anywhere but here
Anywhere but here

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 236 SDef / 252 HP / 20 Spd
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Stealth Rock
- Perish Song / Thunder Wave / U-Turn
- Recover

Save Your Heart the Onion Root Fairy is really the glue that holds my team together. An amazing pivot, she doesn't lose momentum for my team like other hazard setters, and can absorb the status the rest of my team dreads with Natural Cure with absolutely no issue. On top of this, she puts up the Stealth Rocks, to put pressure on major threats such as Darmanitan and opposing Tornadus, while breaking focus sashes which could potentially cause other members trouble. On this rather offensive team, I didn't want to lose momentum running some retarded team supporter, and thus Celebi was chosen, maintaining momentum with U-Turn or smacking any threats with a Thunder Wave to making them 100% irrelevant. Perish Song is simply amazing on top of this, forcing out the major threat to my team that is CroCune, until it is the last mon standing at which point a Perish Song will kill. It also prevents Celebi from being setup fodder to many sweepers. Its STAB of choice is Giga Drain over Psychic for a few reasons. The first is that my team is rather Water Weak, and thus having a grass STAB is benefitial. And secondly, it helps to heal Celebi, and thus I don't need to waste recover PP if I can avoid doing such. Overall, my first choice for a utility mon is never Celebi, but it is critically important to this specific team's success as the Glue to make the team work, and thus still proves to me that it is one of the better UU supporters out there.

Save your heart
For someone that's worth dying for
Don't give it away
Torn apart
Never getting what you've been crying for
It's always the same

The End
fightinggem.png
choicescarf.png
fightinggem.png

Mienshao @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge / Aerial Ace
- U-turn

Mienshao is rightfully named after the song The End, because once it comes out late game, it is honestly the end for the opponent. If Zygarde doesn't sweep, he will. Hitting a jaw dropping 509 Speed, it adds assurance not only to the fact that I will rarely ever will be swept by speed boosting mons, but that nothing will be able to out speed him late game. On top of this, he packs a insanely powerful 130 base power STAB High Jump Kick off of a absurdly high 125 base attack, making it so that the opponent really cannot switch in safely. Even if I do miss, I always can rely on regenerator to get back lose health. Knock Off adds coverage against Psychic and Ghost types who otherwise laugh at my STAB, and is relatively easy to spam early game to remove items and wear down the opponent's team tremendously. Stone Edge and Aerial Ace offer different utilities. Stone Edge basically wrecks flying types finding a safe switch, including the highly relevant Tornadus and Aerodactyl. Aerial Ace however, lets be revenge kill opposing Choice Scarf Heracross, and lets be have a way to decimate Hawlucha prior to it's boosting shenanigans. U-Turn is a final method of gaining momentum, destroying other Celebis, and being an easily spammable move if I know the opponent is forced out, giving me the switch advantage. Awesome.

How can you think that any of this was easy
With all the friends I've lost along the way?
When this is over, we're all getting older now
And we all play a part in it
Innocence is falling, can you hear them calling now?
But I'll be by your side until the end

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SDef
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Gyro Ball
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak
- Toxic / Swords Dance

Possibly the most Anti-Meta mon ever. This shit is broken as fuck and is way better than its older brother aegislash. Fuck aegislash. Fuck it. On that note, fuck Hawlucha. Fuck Tornadus. Fuck you Mienshao. Fucking Haxorus and Salamence. All ain't got shit and are pussies. Profanity is necessary to describe the utility that Doublade brings. It is simply amazing, checking a slew of physically offensive threats for my team, and completely wrecking the majority of relavant sweepers while taking very little damage due to it's simply retarded amount of bulk. While Special hits can tame it, when played correctly it is one of the scariest pokemon in the metagame. Gyro Ball is a stupid hard STAB attack, as even pokemon that resist it like ScarfManitan or ScarfChandi take like 50%. On top of this, it is amazing for beating Hawlucha, which is in my opinion the most threatning mon in existence period, as the opponent chooses to Sack it, or lose the precious Unburden boost, leaving it much more containable. Hell, I'll let it set up to +6, and it still won't be able to kill these two swords over here. Fucking crazy. Sacred Sword is amazing for hitting shit like Cobalion and Magnezone on the switch in, dealing massive damage against opposing steels. Shadow Sneak patches up its poor speed, and helps me revenge kill weaker offensive threats. My final spot is filler, with Swords Dance boosting my attack to insane heights and letting me break down more defensive teams for my Zygarde sweep, while Toxic is my preferred option, helping me wear down walls and tanks for the rest of my team.

I'm bruised and scarred
Save me from this broken heart
All my love will slowly fade and fall apart
Someone please sing this lovesick melody
Call my name if you're afraid
I'm just a kiss away

Blastoise @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump / Water Pulse
- Aura Sphere
- Dark Pulse
- Rapid Spin

This thing literally gets the prize for most broken thing in the current metagame. It spins. It wallbreaks. It walls. It sweeps. Mega-Blastoise simply put is one of the best pokemon, bringing a absolute balance between a true wall and a offensive juggernaut. It literally is the epitome of tanking. The set's goal is simple, prevent hazards while breaking down the opponent's defensive core so that Zygarde and friends can do their dirty work. Every solid UU team needs to prepare to take some sort of hit from this monster, and you can guarantee they will not take it well if they happen to take it. Hydro Pump is my STAB of choice, since regardless of Mega Launcher it is still the hardest hitting STAB available, but I sometimes use Water Pulse as I am hax god, so abusing confusion is always a plus. Aura Sphere helps me kill things like Magnezone on the switch, while beating walls such as Snorlax and Umbreon 1v1. Finally, Dark Pulse can OHKO the large majority of ghost types in the tier, letting me freely get off my spin to remove pesky Stealth Rocks, Spikes, and Sticky Web, all of which hinder the performance of my team greatly. Honestly, if you haven't tried this behemoth out yet, do so because I guarantee it will be banned in the following months due to how much utility and offensive prowess this single pokemon has, and it's ability to carry it's team on its shoulders no matter what playstyle the team is, whether it be hyper offensive or all out stall.

You're falling baby
I've been waiting
You took the long way home
In that dress, it makes me crazy
I'm not the only one
It's cold outside
Keep your heart open wide
Save it for somebody who cares

Tornadus-Therian @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 96 HP / 196 SAtk / 216 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Heat Wave / Focus Blast
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Ah finally, Tornadus-Therian, the team's primary pivot. If there is a attacker in from of me, and I don't know how to respond, my first reaction is to switch out into Tornadus, as I know he is bulky enough to take at least a single hit, and between his great coverage and support options can aid me in shutting down the threat in front of my face. Tornadus-Therian is one of the coolest pokemon, as no matter how many times you knock it down, it finds a way to get up! With great speed to outpace the majority of the metagame, solid offenses, and mindboggling bulk, it truly holds up the scouting role that I need it to for my team. Hurricane is chosen over something weaker like Air Slash because I don't have time to sit around hoping for flinches, and I need to go ham. But if you don't mind the lower power, Air Slash is definitely an option. Heat Wave is my primary coverage move of choice, hitting Forretress, Doublade, Escavalier, etc. for very nice damage, often eliminating said threats for me. However, Focus Blast helps me to beat dedicated special walls such as Snorlax and Umbreon, which also makes it a viable coverage move. Knock Off, with its new Gen6 buff, is just great, especially since I'm pivoting with this thing, I can continue to remove items and deal consistent damage. Finally, U-Turn is the crux of the set, helping me to gain momentum against forced switches and revenge kill extremely weak mons.

Get up, get up
Sing it like you're screaming at me
Get up, get up
I love the way you make it look so easy
East coast, west coast, show me what you've got now
Let's go, let's go

Hello unfamiliar user n_n

You're weak to Crocune and SpD Mew so you might want to use LO Shaymin over Celebi, since it can beat them if it gets the SpD drops from Seed Flare at the right times. It also still provides you with a status absorber, a useful Ground and Water resist, and as a bonus makes you considerably less weak to Mega Blastoise.

That said you do still need a SRer so I'd probably go with SpD Empoleon over M-Blastoise, as it can set up rocks while being able to Defog opposing hazards away (akin to M-Blast's Rapid Spin) and still having a useful Water-typing to check the likes of Cloyster and such. It also provides a check to Tornadus-T which is useful since it can be pretty annoying for you to face right now.

Other than that I don't have much else to say, you might want to consider Lum Berry on Zygarde since it helps when setting up vs. bulkier threats but it does cut into your longevity somewhat. Anyway I hope I helped :]

Huh who are you?

Lol anyways I do agree I am quite weak to Crocune, who poses an immediate threat, but normally I am able to *somewhat* beat it between Knock Off's, constant attacks, etc. which albeit is unreliable. I like the Shaymin / Empoleon idea, but there are a few things I worry about. Empoleon doesn't really pack heat in terms of firepower, which could potentially be bad as Substitute + Setup sweepers could fucking field day me against Empoleon. Shaymin is great though, and I wouldn't mind the switch. Do you think a offensive support Celebi might work? Since it basically beats Cune 1v1 but can still get my rocks up. Idk. One thing to note is Perish Song Celebi? over Thunder Wave, as then I always force Crocunes out prior to significant setup, and if it the last mon standing it is out in 3 turns. Personally I never feel I am weak to Mew though :/..

*Edit* just ran into a CroCune and RestTalk Snorlax on the same team continued to force them out with Perish Song this shit is going up.

Lum Berry was fucking awesome. Putting slash.

Unknown user gave me bad rate -1 imo shouldn't be NU QC pls leave.

Cool team! To bad hawlucha got the ax and is banned. But, if youre looking for a good poke to handle crocune, cm slowbro is a great choice that has great bulk and access to slack off in place of doublade.

Also, can you elaborate on some of the ev spreads, specifically for zygarde and torn-t? Ive heard a lot about av tornt but im pretty partial to life orb for more power.

Thanks for the rate Patrick! Actually, CroCune no longer is an issue due to Perish Song Celebi, but I look forward to testing slowbro anyways since it has great synergy with the rest of my team! In terms of the EV spreads, Torn-T has enough speed to outpace scarfed 60 and belows (surprisingly those aren't uncommon e.g. Scarf Magnezone and Abomasnow). Honestly, another great EV Spread on Tornadus-Therian is EVs: 84 Spd / 192 SAtk / 232 HP since it has just enough to beat Timid 100's, but I prefer the extra utility of snapping a Focus Blast or Heat Wave on the uncommon Scarf Magnezone. On the topic of AV vs. LO, AV misses a lot of power, but gains the utility of being a more reliable pivot, and is one of the better bulky-offensive mons in the metagame. I'm actually considering changing to that Spread if you guys think it is better. Zygarde is a stolen EV spread, so I'm not sure on the specifics, but it works really well!

So the question is..Should I change to the aforementioned spread on Tornadus-Therian?
