i personally think that finding the page to be an apprentice is too hard to find and should have a direct link from the homepage

I keep forgetting that there is a main page ._.'
1) Applications are only open for a very small period of time. By linking to it directly to the forum, uninformed newcomers will link directly to B101 and likely start spamming asking how to join. By forcing them to look for themselves, they're more likely to actually look at the forum and notice the rules, rather than entering with a mindset along the lines of "here I am, sign me up." EDIT here: I hadn't really looked around B101 since the revamp, but I still stand by my latter point.
2) You have to be a member of the forums to join anyways, so there's no harm in looking on the forum. B101 isn't a subforum or anything, basic reading skills are more than enough to locate it.
3) There is a link to the tutor site >_>;
As for you personally having a problem, bookmark (favorite) the forum. Ta da.

Not true. Applications are constantly open, unless the queue begins to get too full (like in Zone A).
