Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 248 Def / 16 Spd
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Taunt
- Roost
- U-turn
My current lead. Taunt to try and prevent Hazard setting leads, but Gliscor is slower than most (especially Smeargle/Galvantula). He works pretty well thanks to bulk and can force most other leads out. The only big problem I have is Spore Smeargle, so I'm considering Protect to allow for Toxic Orb activation. This is pre-Pokebank since I want to make it in-game as well as on Showdown so no SR for now. Gliscor can also switch into Ground/Electric attacks aimed at my Pokes weak to thoe two types.
Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Atk / 16 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Roost
- Swords Dance
I know U Turn and Swords Dance seem counter intuitive but I'm hoping Scizor willl be slower than my opponent so he can hit hard on the switch and let my next Poke come in safely and keep momentum, as long as I know a fire attack is coming, then I'll switch. I'm making this team in-game so I'm counting it as Pre-Pokebank, hence no Bug Bite. Would X-Scissor be better to capitalize on SW boost and keep it up? I went with Scizor as my mega for the added bulk alongside Roost so I can SW up, Roost off some damage, and then Bullet Punch.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- U-turn
- Spikes
- Ice Beam
Right now I'm using Greninja as a kind of annoyance/revenge killer. Not sure how I feel about Spikes as I don't use them all that much and prefer to go on the offensive with him, but they're the only hazard I have right now and if the opponent sounds out an electric pokemon and I predict he'll go for the obvious attack I can hopefully outspeed and switch to Ground while simultaneously setting a hazard, essentially a free hazard turn. But this is a very situational usage so I might switch Spikes for Dark Pule to get more coverage/hit Aegislash harder.
Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spd
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Rapid Spin
- Protect
Basic Rapid Spin Tentacruel. Has been working very well so far. Spin away hazard, Toxic other walls, Scald physical attackers, stall/scout with Protect. I also realize I have two water pokemon but I figure with Protean as long as I send Greninja in as a Revenge Killer/predict a good switch I can change his type.
Arcanine @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spd
Impish Nature
- Morning Sun
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Will-O-Wisp
So far I've been using this Bulky Arcanine because Arcanine is one of my favorite Pokemon and I really want him on my team. Flash Fire is on there because 9 times out of 10 the opponent will try to hit Scizor with a Fire type attack, allowing for a safe switch in. Extreme Speed is there for revenge killing weaked attackers, Flare Blitz for a strong STAB and Morning Sun for recovery, especially sine weather has been nerfed. I'm considering switching him over to an all out Choice Banded attacker but I'm afraid Flare Blitz would run his HP down too quickly.
Jolteon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Special Sweeper. Volt Switch for scouting, Thunderbolt for powerful STAB, Shadowball and HP Ice for coverage and because pre Pokebank there's no Signal Beam. HP Ice is also nice for hitting Dragons, especially the common Dragon/Flying or Dragon/Ground. If I switch anyone out it will probably be Jolteon. He's worked well but I've had one on my team before and would be open to switching him out. Volt Absorb also allows for a nice switch in if I predict an Electric type attack coming at Tentacruel.
Some of the problems I've had thus far are M-Kangha if he gets a PUP boost. He can outspeed Arcanine and kill him with EQ before I can WoW and EQ also makes it hard to hit him with Tenta's Toxic. I've been considering Toxic over U-Turn or Taunt on Gliscor for this. I also don't have any fighting type moves for T-Tar, though I've also considered Grass Knot for Greninja to deal with T-Tar and bulky waters. I don't really have a stall breaking pokemon unless I can get Scizor boosted enough, though Talonflame usually forces me out (but lets Arcanine get a boost off of TF's Flare Blitz). I've considered an SR user but because this is Pre Pokebank most of the SR users are also weak to ground and I'm just not a fan of them. I realize this isn't going to be a top tier team with Arcanine but I'd like to keep him on and maximize my team's potential. He's also nice for dealing with Scizor and crippling physical attackers but again I might want a more offensive set. Talonflame can give me some trouble. Arcanine can switch into Flare Blitz and using Morning Sun to recover from unboosted Brave Bird but with no Attack EVs his Extremespeed doesn't do a huge amount of damage.
