Hello, Pokeballs0 here with my first Thread. Just a bit of backstory to tell you how this team came to me, i was looking though the teirs to see what pokemon to build my team around, I was thinking of underrated pokemon and looking through NU, the first pokemon i looked at was Archeops and suddenly, it hit me, i should make a team around Archeops. I did my very best and team tested it, seemed it was successful so i decided to share it!

Archeops @ Choice Band
Ability: Defeatist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Tail
- U-Turn
- Earthquake

Archeops, the main star of the show. He is fast and hard-hitting. With assistance from the Choice Band, his attacks are really dangerous. Stone Edge is the source of the power with a high crit rate, it can do a frightening amount of damage. Aqua Tail and Earthquake are all fillers and are quite situational. With assistance from the U-Turn, he can make a strong escape when things are not smooth.
Archeops does have the defeatist ability which can half attack if HP is at half and because Choice Band is the item, once you attack, thats the only attack you can use so you need to predict well for what they are going to do. If you become statused, you won't be able to do much so you will need to fall back and get rid of that status with Lanturn's Heal Bell.

178.png

Xatu @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Wish
- U-turn
- Heat Wave
- Psychic / Psyshock

Xatu, the first pokemon to pair with Archeops and that is to sort out his Defeatist ability with Wish. To make sure Wish can kick in, he has no speed EV investment and has U-Turn. You will be able to U-turn AFTER the opponant attacks meaning Archeops will not sustain any damage trying to switch in. His Magic Bounce can bounce back any status the enemy will try to throw. Air Slash and Psychic or Psyshock are for offensive purpose incase you do not need to Wish assist Archeops.
Xatu is not a pysical attacker so U-Turn is not going to be at all powerful, you need to be catious whether to do a normal switch or a U-Turn switch unless you are doing the Wish / U-Turn on one of your team mates. You are not a fast Xatu, you mustn't try anything follish that you would do with a fast pokemon.

141.png

Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet / Knock Off

Kabutops is a rapid spinner for the team and strong at his job as well. His attacks are good and he is at his max speed. His ability can prevent critical hits so you will not have to worry about being severely hurt while using this Pokemon. His attack stat is good and the utility for this pokemon is great. His item can greatly boost where his attack possibly lacks
His typing is interesting but dangerous to work with. Grass type moves are really hazardous and his item, the Life Orb, does take 10% of HP off meaning things are not going to be smooth when tied in a rough situation.

346.png

Cradily @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 Def / 4 HP / 252 SpD
Bold / Calm Nature
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Recover
- Giga Drain / Ancient Power

Cradily, the lead of the team and a good Anti-Water type with the help of Storm Drain. This pokemon is tough and easy to use. You could cause a great annoyance with Cradily right from the start. It has a nice typing and good stats.
Using this Cradily, there are several things you must make a mental note of, firstly is the moveset. Taunt is a massive downside to this Cradily leaving you to switch out. The second thing you will have to know is that he is the slowest on the team so if you believe that you won't survive the next turn, don't be a superhero, switch out and try to pull off Wish / U-Turn from Xatu to Cradily when you can. Cradily is meant to work with his team, you do not want Cradily as your last pokemon.

171.png

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Heal Bell
- Thunderbolt
- Scald
- Dazzling Gleam / Signal Beam / Ice Beam

Lanturn is a supportive aid for archeops. Her Heal Bell will erase all status problems with all of your pokemon and she is max speed. Her type is unique and not many people will prepare for her. Not many people will predict a heal bell either so that puts her at a suprise advantage.
Her Special Attack is somewhat weak and for an Electric type, she isn't as fast as you may expect. Besides her ability and her item, she has next to no recovery so she might be relying on Xatu or Combusken to do anything serious.

256MS.png

Combusken @ Eviolite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Low Kick
- Baton Pass
- Protect
The final member for this team, Combusken is a supportive ally to the team. His job is to supply speed to the team. He isn't all support though, his 2 attacking moves have good stab.He is a reliable ally to the team helping out Lanturn, Kabutops and (obviously) Archeops.
His Attack stat is pretty low and because of the Baton Pass Clause, he cannot make up for that loss of attack with Bulk Up or Swords Dance.

I had a lot of fun designing this team and I am looking forward to see your suggestions for my team and if your suggestion makes a good point, i will try it out. Thank you for checking out my team.

You know, I used to run a 6 archeops team in AG. It didn't work well, but the banded set seemed to get me the most luck. The set is here:

I thank you for the sugestion, from team testing your Archeops, the U-Turn paired well with the Choice Band and the Aqua Tail has good utility. The Head Smash ,however it was strong, seemed to drive me into Defeatist faster.

Hey, your team looks pretty cool on the paper, but some of your set aren't the best, especially xatu and Archeops. Let's give a look at these mons.

Archeops here looks like your wallbreaker, yes, but with that set, you can't really hit a lot of things, so, i think you can replace Dragon Claw by Aqua Tail, as Earthquake don't do a lot to Rhydon, Aqua Tail is a cool move to run on your Archeops, especially regarding to how many of your mons Rhydon can easily deal with. In a second way, i don't see why you need to run Crunch, as Stone Edge hit all the things that Crunch hit (Rotom, Musharna, Haunter & cie). So as intellectual potato, U-turn>Crunch looks like the best thing to do, especially due to the way how Archeops can be weaken fastly, u-turn help you to send more easily a check to X mon while keep the momentum in your side.

Also, regarding to your team, Xatu looks like your only fighting check, so, you need to change the set/spread to deal more easily with these fighting type, Wish Xatu isn't really good due to the low HP of Xatu. So, a physically defensive Xatu with a Colbur Berry looks the best choice here due to your huge weakness to the figthing type.

A minor change, but something that can help you to deal more easily with rain team is replacing Weak Armor on Kabutops by Swift Swim, as rain team looks pretty hard to handle to your team, Swift Swim Kabutops can help a lot with them. Also, running Stone Edge over Rock Slide on Kabutops looks better due to the chance to OHKO Ludicolo after rocks or LO damages.

Your spread on Cradily isn't the best, you need to change this for 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD to check more decently the special attacker while xatu can handle the physical side.

Regarding to the team, changing the lanturn's spread for a bulkier one looks better as it forms a solid core with Cradily and Xatu. So, running this spread looks the best choice to do: 40 HP / 152 Def / 208 SpD / 108 Spe. Also, after giving a look at your team, you looks pretty weak to Malamar as it set up pretty easily on Lanturn, Cradily, Xatu and Combusken. So, i would recommand to run Signal Beam over Dazzling Gleam to have a way to pressure it more easily than spamming U-turn.

On Combusken, Eviolite over Focus sash and Flare blitz over Fire punch let you handle more easily the steel type for letting Archeops come more easily after. Also, changing Sky Uppercut by Low kick looks like a good idea as it help to deal more damages to Hariyama, Rhydon and Steelix.

Archeops @ Choice Band
Ability: Defeatist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Aqua Tail

Xatu @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Timid Nature

- Heat Wave
- U-turn

Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Rapid Spin

Cradily @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature

- Stealth Rock
- Recover
- Giga Drain

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP / 152 Def / 208 SpD / 108 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Volt Switch
- Heal Bell
- Signal Beam

Combusken @ Eviolite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Protect
- Baton Pass

- Low Kick

Hope i've helped, if you have any question about some changes just pm me or reply here, have a good day :)

I appreiciate the suggestions and i will make some changes to the weakness you have pointed out. Some of the changes, in my opinion, are a bit questionable but i understand why you have made them. In my defense, i gave Xatu wish to support Archeops from his defeatist ability and Combusken the Focus Sash so he can safely Baton Pass speed over to whoever needs it. I do like the new EV spread on the Cradily and Lanturn and i will give your team a trial run to see if it tops my old version. Thank you for the suggestions
