Are you a sucker? (UU/NU monodark)

Hello Everyone!
Ok first, off i'd like to say i never once thought that this team would even be remotely successful. Contrary to my original thought, this team is actually highly successful. I have not tried to ladder it nor do I think im going to try solely because this team was made just for fun. Your job, is to help me make this team even more fun to use and attempt to make it more successful! Thanks!
.......

This team has a very specific playstyle. First off, you want to realize that this teams main weaknesses are subseeders, ROCK/STEELS* and other sub users. This team spams priority moves. Also, this team has to be used extremely offensivly. My own playstyle is rather unorthodox, so i'll explain below how each one is used and how effective each one can be:)
.......

.......

Cannabyss

Cacturne
@ Focus Sash
Adamant - Sand Veil
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Spikes
- Suckerpunch
- Seedbomb
- Protect

This is Cacturne. Nicknamed Cannabyss. If you dont get the name I shouldnt explain...anyways, this guy is great. Very fun to use. First off, you want to use spikes as many times as you think you can get them off, usually 2 or 3; sometimes once but very rarely. once you think you are going to faint I use sucker punch which usually can take a huge chunk out par rock/steel/fighting. Seedbomb is for secondary stab and can take things like omastar and kabutops. Finally, protect stops fakeout users from getting rid of my sash and keeping me alive long enough to set up layers and layers of spikes. This guy DOES NOT need to live. As many spikes as possible and then w.e else you can get take it.

.......

FearGas

Skuntank
@ Blackglasses
Jolly - Blackglasses
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Taunt
- Suckerpunch
- Explosion
- Crunch

Another fun one. This is my Skuntank "Fear Gas" (kinda like tear gas). Anyways this guy is great. He goes in and taunts the walls that try to set up or hinder me. Secondly, his crunch can take loads of life away from the opponent. Then, I have another suckerpunch for priority. Finally explosion is mainly what I use him for. Most of the time, people predict the explosion and switch into spiritomb or mismagius/rotom. I taunt them and then kill them with a dark type attack. if they dont have a switch, I explode and kill them. My biggest problems are rhyperior/regirock/aggron...you get it. any ideas? Blackglasses is for more STAB power.

.......

Kataract

Sharpedo
@ Lifeorb
Naive - Rough Skin
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Aqua Jet
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Hydro Pump

This guy is stunning. Kataract is a great mix attacker. He can single handedly take on teams and sweep them if unprepared. Aqua jet for priority, crunch for pure power, Earthquake for registeel/venesaur/drapion/toxicroak/etc...all of which can be possible threats. Finally, hydropump is a nice suprise for the physical walls who think im a physical attacker. They switch in and I score the OHKO. Finally incase you didnt know, a cataract is a sudden rush of water.
.......

Blackfier

Mismagius
@ Life Orb
Hasty - Flashfire
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Hp
- Suckerpunch
- Nasty Plot
- Fireblast
- Darkpulse

Heres one of my main attackers Blackfier. This guys job is to switch in on strong fire attacks aimed at cacturne and spiritomb. Mainly, a switch in on other spiritombs. Very fun to use. I got rid of hidden power for Suckerpunch becuase I absolutely love the priority. The spikes give it just enough to OHKO just about everything even without a boost from Flashfire. Without spikes, suckerpunch gives a great priority that most people wont expect, that just about gets the job done against most threats. Fireblast and Darkpulse for stab. Nastyplot+lifeorb for insane power.

.......

Phantastic

Spiritomb
@ Blackglasses
Adamant - Pressure
252 Atk / 252 Hp / 4 HP
- Suckerpunch
- Shadow Sneak
- Pursuit
- Will o Wisp

This Phantastic teammate plays mind games with my opponent. I toss him in whenever I feel like im stuck in a predicament. This guy unfortunatly gets all of the rhyperiors and aggrons. So i might switch willowisp out for something that can beat them...any ideas?? Anyways. Suckerpunch kills so many things its insane. Pursuit kills the threats and other types that run away. Shadowsneak is just another priority. You never know what move im going to use next! Blackglasses for added damage on pursuit and suckerpunch.

.......

Foreshadow

Absol
@ Lum Berry
Jolly - Superluck
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Superpower
- Nightslash

Finally, this is Absol. AKA. Foreshadow. I usually send him in kind of early to start a sweep going. The only reason he works, is because most people try to use status inducing moves on him instead of just attacking. This is where lum berry comes into play. Lum berry gets rid of my status while i Swordsdance. Next, I can abuse nightslash and suckerpunch along with superpower if i need to take out chansey, lickylicky, clefable and other gay annoying pokemon like that. Anyways pretty self explanatory. Awesome pokemon.

IN CONCLUSION:
The pokemon on this team are all fairly cool, they do their jobs but theres little things here and there that can be improved. thats where I need all you guys! im willing to try out all different movesets. Whether they're smogon movesets or youre own genuine movesets. I'm open for change....
THANK YOU!!!!
Prodigy

Sucker Punch fails on priority moves, so a simple Technitop wipes out 4 of you pokemon. Rocks and steels can be very common especially on stall teams, so watch out for that. I liike the lum berry on Absol, even tho its weird and doesn't benefit past 1 use. Get leftovers on Tomb or just get a Life Orb same for the skunk, the glasses aren't cool. Houndoom =/= mismagius. WTF? I like houndoom tho but it gets wrecked by Arcanine. Its interesting to see a sucker punch team, because it's pretty much hit-or-miss, and its often predictable, especially with all dark types that are common SP users. I wouldn't say its good or bad, just...interesting.

You'd be fairly surprised how easy I kill hitmontop. I have never had a problem with one. Nobody actually expects everything on the team to have suckerpunch. Its actually hard to play around. IF you try to kill me your most likely going to go down with me. And since im running the team, I usually come out on top. The blackglasses actually help. I dont know if i like the recoil damage on tank. whats the point? lifeorb will just kill me and i get a boost from the glasses anyways without the recoil...

If you are using SP on Houndoom you might wanna switch to Hasty instead. And try to play it in a competitive environment and check for yourself if you still "come out on top"

You misunderstood. I AM playing in a competitive enviroment. I just am not laddering with it. And I will try that.

Sucker Punch fails on priority moves.

This isn't true. It fails on priority moves from a faster foe.

On Stunktank, altough its Base Power is pitiful, Rock Smash is your best option against Regirock and Aggron. Just hope for a defence drop, and maybe give Stunktank a Choice Band or Life Orb to boost it attack.

I can see the advantages of Sucker Punch on Houndoom and it is helpful against fast foe. However, if fighting types are causing you problems, especially Thick Fat Hariyama, the run HP Flying. Fire, Dark and Flying get great coverage and UU.

I should think Will-o-Wisp beats Rhyperior and Aggron, and is Spiritombs best bet against them. You could always drop WoW and run a TrickBand set. With Choice Band, you can trap and kill Uxie and Alazakam, as Pursuit does enough to KO. You also have the ability to wreck walls if you trick a Choice Band onto them.

Overall, and nicely balanced Mono-team. You cover you weakness to fight reasoanble well, just be careful of the random Scyther or Venomoth.

Hey there!

I am completely astounded by the lack of Drapion on this team. Drapion is one of the best Dark types in the metagame, having access to both amazing Speed and Defense, plus an above average Attack. It is an offensive powerhouse that cannot be ignored. I really like Skuntank (I use him on my current UU team), but his role is really just limited to Ghost trapper on most teams. This team should never, ever have problems with Ghosts. Drapion has better better Speed and Defense, while the only substantial difference for Skuntank is HP. Drapion has access to boosting moves (Swords Dance and Agility are the best of the movepool) and has good coverage moves (Earthquake, the Fangs, etc.). Skuntank...does not. The only positive on Skuntank is Explosion, which is somewhat gimmicky and unnecessary on this team. Therefore, I suggest changing Skuntank to a Drapion.

457.png

Drapion @ Scope Lens
Ability: Sniper
EV's: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
Moveset:
- Swords Dance
- Night Slash
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang / Taunt

Drapion is a powerhouse once it switches in. Since it only has one weakness, a Base 110 Defense, a Base 95 Speed, and an amazing movepool, Drapion can set up and take out a multitude of threats with ease. While Absol may have Swords Dance as well, there is no issue with having two SD users, as both are hitting different threats. Earthquake nails Aggron and Rhyperior for great damage, and both will not like a critical hit. Night Slash trades 5 less BP than Crunch for a higher crit rate, which means Drapion can easily score 3x critical hits with it. Ice Fang is simply for coverage, hitting Dragon and Flying types hard. Taunt can be used in the last spot to prevent status and such, which is a great option. The choice is up to you.

That Houndoom wants an EV spread of 100 Atk / 156 SpA / 252 Spe. This will guarantee a OHKO with Sucker Punch against enemy Dugtrio after one layer of Spikes, who will be a nuisance to this team entirely. The loss of SpA will hardly be noticeable after one Nasty Plot boost (you will hit 600 Special Attack - more than enough to sweep).

Hope this helps!

Hey Prod thanks for revealling our dark team. This team is so fun to play. On another note for all those doubting its ability it got me to 38th on the leaderboard. Anyway I feel like I should answer why I chose some to build the team the way it is. All those worried about Hitmontop should please tell me the offensive Hitmontop that is getting past Spiritomb. Defensive tops(usually lacking mach punch) are pretty easily disposed of. Honestly I have never seen a thick fat hariyama as guts is usually more appealing. WoW is very handy on Spiritomb but if you think that he is staying in to Wisp Perior or Aggron you are sadly mistaken. I honestly can't believe you are suggesting Rock Smash on Skunky. It has what 40 base power if that. Whoever suggested dropping the cool shades on tomb and Tank must not understand the purpose. Tomb needs to hit as hard as possible while also faking a choice item. Stunky, I personally use life orb over black glasses only because I like to the power of boosted explosion. Which leads to the last suggestion. Stunky>Drapion specifically for this team. To begin ingeneral Drapion has been sadly disappointing to me any time I have tried to use him. He lacks the power out put. By using Drapion I honestly see him as a weaker slightly faster Absol without Sucker Punch. Plus another sword dancer is not what the team needs. Stunky's job which he does well is to puts some wholes in the opponent to allow for other to clean up. Stunky has a great insta kill button in explosion while also being able to ward off ghosts. Not only that stunky has no set up so it can start breaking necks and cashing checks as soon as it come into battle. Well thats all I got for now. MonoDark FTW
Edit: In the end this team does take alot of prediction to play properly which is simply hyped up guesswork which makes it all the more satisfying to win.

Thank you for explaining the team more thoroughly man. Fiction hit the nail on the head.

ok so i made a few changes and I tested the drapion and changed some of houndooms ev's. Everything is good. I like the drapion but Idk if i should try agility or not. The Sd set is definitly cool. As of skuntank, i'll just switch back and forth depending on what I feel like using both of them work great. Thanks everybody

Have you guys considered using low kick Sneasel? I would think it would hit Rhyperior and Aggron for major damage as well as giving you another possible priority option: ice shard.

Hm, sorry to be useless on that one but I am not completely sure. You could try giving it a similar as set with lum like Absol and maybe try swapping them?Seeing as you are probably more experienced with ins and outs of the team so maybe you could see which pokemon is more exendable. Again, sorry to leave you hanging on the decision.

i tried out sneasel and it definitly isn't as good as absol...idk if i could try it in anti lead position and switch cacturne back to a sword dance substitute set?

anybody know a wallbreaker style drapion with agility? or some other cool set for drapion that is "genuine"

Props for making a monoteam! I also like the fact that you decided to make nicknames for each member, even though that doesn't have much impact on the matches. I have battled this team, and I will admit that this is a good monoteam, but I also must say that it does have problems. I second DrkSlay's Drapion replacing Skuntank. Drapion is a great wallbreaker, and fast killers are fulfilled in Houndoom and Sharpedo. Also, Drapion adds some bulk to your team, because most members of your team are glass cannons. Finally, Drapion's Ice Fang allow it to deal with Torterra, since the Choice Band ones can sweep your entire team if Houndoom is gone, especially if it's locked onto Earthquake (Even though Cacturne resists EQ, it can't stay in long against it). Still, this is a great team, and I hope that my comments helped!

Thank you, it was me and Fiction who put this team together. I tried Drapion and as much as I like the sd set for him, he hasnt been working for me as a wall breaker as much as id like. i would like to add a little bulk to the team but theres only so many pokemon to chose from that'll still fit the team...If i can find some special ev's or something that would be interesting though
