Articuno Moveset -- Need Good EV Spreads

Well, I have a copy of Miamisportsfan45's redistributable Articuno, and I thought up of a moveset that I could use with it. Anyways, here goes:

Articuno@Life Orb
IVs: 9 / x / 10 / 31 / 30 / 25
Bold Nature
Move 1: Ice Beam
Move 2: Ancientpower / Hidden Power [Bug 64] (which would be better?)
Move 3: Substitute
Move 4: Roost

Anyways, Ancientpower is meant to hurt Fire-types (other than ones whose second type keeps Ancientpower from being super-effective, such as Infernape or Heatran), however, it probably won't OHKO them unless it has low Special Defense or it is 4x weak to Rock (Charizard, Moltres, etc.). Note that the Life Orb is there to try and give a power boost to Ancientpower / HP Bug, and will also cause its Ice Beam to hurt more. Substitute and Roost can be used to stall to a limited extent, but only on things that are slower than it, most likely. Roost can also be used to recover from Life Orb damage. Essentially, I am trying to mix sweeping and walling here (a 'swaller', albeit limited). If you have a good suggestion for its EV spread (consider its IV and moveset situations), post it, but please provide an analogy for that EV spread and what it does for this Articuno. Eventually I have plans to provide this in my trading thread as a trained version of MSF45's Articuno. (And I didn't provide an analogy for HP Bug since I thought Ancientpower was superior for dealing with some of Articuno's weaknesses)

I think you're going about using Articuno the wrong way. With such a limited movepool, it isn't really supposed to take a sweeping role. I'd just go with the standard, and tank hits with it.

252 HP / 96 Def / 64 SpA / 96 SpD
- Ice Beam
- Roost
- Toxic
- Roar / Reflect

Alternatively you could try Rest and Sleep Talk, but Articuno's moveset doesn't really allow it to be all that offensive.

Actually, just to nitpick, the standard would be Ice Beam, Roar, Roost, and Toxic/Reflect in the last slot. Roar is emphasized more than Toxic.

Well, I guess I was just wanting to try something new with Articuno, different than the standard... well I guess I'll go with Ice Beam / Roar / Roost / Toxic with the suggested EVs. I could see using that over my "invention" now.

Sadly, this Articuno can only go for 362Hp (which I'd turn it into 352), SpDef is good, though. The rest should be thrown into SpAtk and go for the standard set. That's it =/.

well first of all, I would like to say that baiseing an EV spread for a single pokemon is in it's own sense dumb as most players generally play simulaters that give a pokemon 31 IVs all around

2nd of all, the articuno MSF45 gave out is bold. you are mainly suggesting an offensive moveset with two filler slots. Articuno is a HORRIBLE attacker and is best left using supporting options. Not to mention, It's offensive options are also poor as he has hidden power and Ice beam

3rd, we cannot even judge on it without you giving us EVs, or damage calcs sowing effectiveness. Maybe trying to actually take the time to experiment with a damage calculator would help.

about your set now. What are you actually planning on articuno to do? At first glance it looked like an offensive articuno with two mindless filler options picked for no reason what so ever. then looking upon it, I aw that maybe you were trying to create some sort of wall using roost and attacking with two horrible options. Even the offensive options you suggested were poor. Acient power (beyond the rare chance of all your stats being boosted) is useless. The HP is no better as bug has poor coverage with icebeam, electric would be prefured.

The best moveset for this, and nearly any other articuno is listed plain as day in the analysis, only requireing a tweak of it's EVs to match up with its IVs.

Oh, and your "swaller" idea is nothing new. A mix of defensive and offensive cabibilitys (can't spell) is called a tank.

sorry if I sounded to harsh
